Jonathan Rhys Meyers @ Mother’s Funeral
Jonathan Rhys Meyers bid his mother, Geraldine O’Keeffe, a final farewell at her funeral on Friday at St. Joseph’s Church in Glanmire, County Cork, Ireland. Mrs. Meyers O’Keeffe passed away on Tuesday morning at Mercy University Hospital following a short illness.
The Tudors actor was accompanied to the funeral by his girlfriend Reena Hammer. Fellow Irish actor Colin Farrell was also in attendance, seen embracing Jonathan (pictured below). Irish actor Cillian Murphy was also reportedly there. His flowers and card can be seen below.
JRM’s father John O’Keeffe and his three brothers Alan, Jamie and Paul, heard Priest Noel O’Sullivan describe Mrs. Meyers O’Keeffe as a “loving, caring mother, who would go out of her way to help people.”
Our deepest condolences go out to Jonathan and his friends and family.

To take photos of someones funeral i not at all right- even if its a realtion to a celebrity, there are more important things in this world than celebrity.
Wow. I really do not think it is appropriate for these pictures to have been taken in the first place and shouldn’t be circulated. This is private. We have no right to intrude.
Why are they taking pictures of him at his mothers funeral? That makes me sick! Let the man grieve! ugh stupid media!
wow i feel bad 4 him
but he’s still hot
Jonathon was obviously comforted by the presence of his good friend Colin. Smoking or not, isn’t that what matters most?
this is ridiculous, this is a very personal matter, the paparazzi should leave them alone to grieve. who would want cameras all over at a funeral? geez, show some respect. deepest sympathy to them all.
Why did Splash news feel the need to take pictures of this? Privacy is a word that is so obsolete now. Sad times are upon us.
Please take these pictures down. It is inappropriate and it is unfair to those who are grieving.
Aww, that’s so sad. What’s even more disgusting is that people are photographing him at such a sad time. Grow up! People will never learn. Don’t they remember what happened to Princess Diana or what?
why are there paparazzi at a freaking FUNERAL? that is disgusting
I think it is disgusting that people are paid to take these pictures… have a little respect
I also think it’s disgusting that you are choosing to post them, creating a demand for this type of product
He is a man who lost his mother, respect his privacy.
Sad about the paps. Its not right. My thoughts go out to JRM’s family
Is not too late JJ, remove those pictures, please, and get some credit with us, the fans.
I am also disgusted by this gross invasion of privacy. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a popular actor but surely he and his family have the right to some privacy at his mother’s funeral. JJ, you don’t have to post everything that comes across your desk.
I hate seeing people unhappy, it makes me depressed. :(
Why would someone take pictures of a funeral?? My prayers go out to his family. I wish they had gotten some privacy on this day.
There would be a lot more upcoming funerals if that was me…
JJ, very digusted with you right now, this is very inappropriate
The papparazzi really shouldn’t take pictures of him (or anyone) at a funeral. It breaks my heart to see this :(
There would be a lot more upcoming funerals if that was me…

Ha! Couldn’t agree with you more.
Prayers to you and your family.
No one knows your pain til you’ve lost your mom or a parent.
Jonathan, sorry to hear of your loss, my your mother rest in peace.
how is this possible? WHY would a human being take photos of someone grieving? it is so disrespectful.. :(
My condolances to Jonathan Rhys Meyers, I lost a relative recently and I remember the horrible feeling that doesn’t go away that fast..
Deepest condolences to Jonathan and his family. I didn’t look at the pictures because they are so intrusive. Very sad that celebs can’t have one moment of privacy even for grieving. I hope he can get through this and pull himself together again, not spiral downward further.
ok…the comment about colin smoking at the funeral…get over yourself…it’s totally acceptable in ireland, nobody takes offense…
and i do have to say that it is tasteless to take pictures of a funeral.
