Fashion Faceoff: Marchesa Dress
Dita Von Teese wore a gorgeous Marchesa ebony silk tulle ball dress with gold hand-embroidered lead appliqué to the Seventh on Sale dinner gala in NYC earlier this month. The burlesque queen made her outfit pop with dark red lipstick.
Penelope Cruz wore the same Marchesa gown in the December 2007 pages of Vogue. The Spanish actress went a little more au naturale makeup-wise.
Who wore it best — DITA VON TEESE or PENELOPE CRUZ?

Both look gorgeous but I have to go with Pene. And to the poster who said Dita has to do her hair and make up all by herself-I highly doubt that. No way a person could always looked that groomed without the help of professionals. Majority of celebs have a team to help them look good when they go out to events…thats why they always look so polished!

It is important to take into consideration that the comparison is not really fair for Dita being that Penelope is actually posing for a photoshoot. The lighting is aimed to flatter Penelope and the dress, while Dita just posed for a regular camera. Although Dita is quite beautiful, Penelope definitely rocks that dress! Her look is much more natural, sensual and exotic. While Dita looks like a mannequin (which I mean as a compliment), Penelope looks like a living work of art.
haaaa haaaaa what a joke, the stunning Dita Von Teese of course, and for sure and she said in a interview that she does her own make up and haircut yep.
She surely know how to look glam.
So hard to decide. Probably a tie because Dita Von Teese brings something totally exquisite to the gown whereas Penelope Cruz has the wonderful backdrop to compliment the gown and her look.

Penelope cos the gold leaves match her skintone much better and she looks so much more exotic. Dita looks great too, but her looking old hollywood is down to her hair and make-up not the dress, which because it’s so dramatic and dark, together with her PALE skintone, make her look a a bit gothic and vampire-like.
Gorgeous dress on both but I just prefer Penelpe’s natural-yet smouldering look. Also the dress looks quite Spanish too.
