Angelina Jolie: EW’s Entertainer of the Year

Angelina Jolie was named one of the 25 Top Stars of 2007 for Entertainment Weekly’s “Entertainers of the Year.” Check out a sample of what they had to say:

Angelina Jolie is currently fulfilling fanboy fantasies in Beowulf with her role as Grendel’s mom. Grendel’s naked mom. In digital 3-D, no less. But energizing her base is hardly the 32-year-old actress’ only accomplishment this year. In A Mighty Heart, Jolie strapped on a prosthetic pregnancy belly, donned a curly wig, and delivered the sort of heart-wrenching turn that reminded audiences why she won that Academy Award (for 1999’s Girl, Interrupted) in the first place. In other words, she acted.”

go angelina!

Man! People are obsessed with this woman. I click to read the first page and I thought I clicked on a time warp/machine or something? Is it 2005 again? I didn’t know there were still people who feel need to wave a red banner against a woman who they accused of adultery. Which, by all means if we have to discuss this on this lazy day, was disputed by ALL parties involved! His ex-wife, his ex-wife’s bestfriends and practically anyone who had eyes and ears who were supposedly near them said he did not, I repeat, DID NOT, have an affair. He told his then wife that he had feelings for this woman… and it seemed at the time that she was accepting of the situation. Now, years later and the slow burn or obscurity on her part and people who suddenly feel the need the bring any and all mention of her just so she can still be talked about, try to bash a woman who has done nothing wrong to her.
By the way, I don’t think Angelina justifies anyone else’s feelings getting hurt despite any of her decisions. Remember that she knows what it feels like to be on the other end. I remember an interview of hers where she talked about her father’s former affairs and the way he flaunted those women in front of her and her mother and brother. That time when her father brought his girlfriend to the oscars where he won when he was barely separated from her mother. That sucked. And after that, she went through so much more! Dam*, no wonder people are so fascinated by her. She’s just so complex. And that’s why I think she’s really awesome to watch. And she has so much more life to live, and us- the public- are only too eager to be witnesses.
Well, hope for the best for her, her family and to everyone else in the world!

Jolie-Pitts rock!

Apologies if I double posted, IP glitch.

OT: I don’t think authors would consider themselves entertainers per se. They don’t call themselves that. That’s what’s important. The literary elite would pooh pooh that label. They have been vitims of the real entertainers, the film industry. I notice how Hollywood will take anything in the public eye and call it entertainment. Soon chefs will be considered entertainers, clergy will be considered entertainers, good samaritans will be considered that as well. Ceo’s of fortune 500 companies, doctors, lawyers, nannies, hairdressers, etc…..I guess the President of the United States is an entertainer with his famous quips……

Good evening to the fabulous JPs fans. Hi guli, still enjoying having everyone home I hope. Been kind of brisk in NY too! Hope you’re still here when this posts.
Re Angie: Angie had a big loss this year(her mom), so given the balance of the universe, 2008 will probably be a very good year for Angie and her family. Her mother will always look out for her in spirit. I admire how she worked through her grief. She deserves every accolade she gets. Congratulations to her!! (a very difficult year by any standards) Oh, I still miss the children they are getting big, would love to see them. But I will watch the videos until the next sighting.(smile)

Thanks, Jill. I appreciate your message. In fact, I am going to go make dinner for my hubby right now.

I laughed at your comeback about DAMN being directed to DListed! Some people (like her/him) have a hard time with more than 10 words strung together to communicate.

If you’re here later, I’ll shout at ya!

Can not believe this, angie won,oh my goodness how sweet it is.i am so happy for brads little woman.

ENOUGH WITH THE DISSERTATIONS. WHAT A BORE!

Wow Kelly Marie. Thank you for sharing that. ;)
I’m glad that it all worked out in the end.

and DAMN how does that even qualify as a dissertation? Have you ever written one? Do you even know what one looks like?

mary jane @ 11/24/2007 at 5:14 pm

If the woman was anyone other than Angelina Jolie people wouldn’t even be talking about this **** anymore. It’s all about Angelina the superwoman Jolie.

Did ya take Jen to the movie with ya, Court? Oh snap…y’all aren’t speaking. My bad. I forgot.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That was my OPINION of the movie. I didn’t like it and I’m entitled to say that. If you would have had something on here about A Mighty Heart, then I’d say go see it or rent it immediately- amazing film!! See smart a**, you labeled me based on 1 comment. I didn’t even mention Angie. I just thought the movie was bad. Geez, defensive any??

Re: JK Rowling

Of course she’s an entertainer. Her works are responsible for various film blockbusters, including the most recent installment this past summer. She just released the last installment of the Potter book, which was also a huge event. She did junkets about a book, not a movie. And when she revealed the sexuality of a pivotal character, it reignited many of its core readers to re-read the books, along with attracting new readers to the books, not to mention how the blogosphere went nuts over the revelation.

If Tyler Perry can make the list, then JK certainly can.

Those staying on topic thank you. The rest of you mofo’s …well you all know what you can do with your tired posts and long & lenghy analysis of something nobody cares about.

I love it when the trolls start a convo, are getting creamed…and then post saying we talk about X and the divorce too much.

Could you try being a little less transparent? Thank you.

**** jolie, brad, jen
***** bought in a store that sells fur. Didi you see the “poor bear, wish I could save him”? Now imagine him being skkined alive, not so cute. She doesn’t care abt that. If she did she wouldn’t have bought there (even if she didn’t bought fur)
I respected her b4, now.. **** her!

Kelly marie @ 11/24/2007 at 5:17 pm

Thanks Janice…I must have hit a nerve with DAMN, cuz you are right, we’d all be bored with a dissertation on “homewrecking”.

Enjoy your evening!

The whole truth says, “that it takes courage to admit that the person you married is not the person who fulfills you, and that you want someone and something else in your life. This is reality.”

———————————————————————

Pathetic as it is, the whole truth is right. Too many people believe that their mate should fulfill them and that is exactly why people fail in relationships. The whole truth is, you have to be complete within yourself to make a relationship successful. Don’t ever put that expectation onto your spouse, you will end up a failure everytime. Just like the reality of all these celebrities who have failed so many times.

Valentina, Brad and Angie deserve each other.Be happy for them. They have found a beautiful life together.

It is nice to see so many in Hollywood finding true love as Brad and Angie have. Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony, Julie and Danny, Tom and Rita, Nicole and Keith. The positive is their commitment to each other saves so many innocent souls from being hurt by them. Now they need to find that special someone for George Clooney. Aww well, maybe not, I kinda find “heartbreaker” sexy and attractive on him. :-)

That's my girl @ 11/24/2007 at 5:17 pm

Congratulations to Angelina for being an entertainer of the year. You have been quite entertaining in your films and in your personal life as well. You, are not boring.

166 courtney : 11/24/2007 at 4:34 pm

What exactly were you expecting? I know the film has been bad-mouthed by a lot of English Lit majors who expected the script to follow the epic poem. If that’s what you were expecting to, no wonder you were disappointed. “Beowulf” is a straight-up action/adventure movie, nothing more, nothing less. Taken on those terms, it’s an eye-popping, jaw-dropping spectacle. Just pass the popcorn, relax and enjoy it. It’s a fun movie. That’s all.

#120: valentina, you’ll be in hell way before anybody else is. You are a judgemental pig. That’s a bigger sin than most. You are trying to play God. At least, we all have a chance but you, an unrepentant witch will go straight to hell for sure. Bring an ice cold drink and a fan. You’re going to need them. Bye bye!

Dumb Americans don’t know English. A home is a couple with children.
***********************************************************

Honey, you sound dumber than Pouty, if such a thing is possible. What about all the single parents raising children? They don’t have homes? What about empty nesters or people who are childless by choice or because they can’t have children? A home is where you make it.

+++++++++++++++++

I guess #91 has never heard the phrase, “HOME is where the heart is”…and my personal fave, courtesy of Elvis Costello, “Home is anywhere you hang your head.”

That picture is not flaterring, she can look better..
Dont like her anyway…..but photographer can do a better job of showcasing her beauty..maybe is the weightloss

Pouty, did you just came out from the Loonyville? We forgive you. We know you’re sick.

Congratulation ANGELINA JOLIE!!!
