Packs of press flooded Hollywood last Monday to interview the super-skilled singers and actors, only to discover that the film’s stars Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron (who just walked the carpet at the DVD premiere) suddenly had better things to do at the Renaissance Hotel together … leaving their fellow film “friends” to do all the dirty work.
At a time when Ness needs to pick up the pieces of her naked photo scandal, peeving the press probably isn’t the smartest thing to do. Especially when you decide to do a no-show and not even tell your director.

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens did very few red-carpet interviews Monday night at a splashy party in Hollywood celebrating the Dec. 11 DVD release of “High School Musical 2.” They also skipped the press junket.
So, are they becoming a couple of prima donnas?
Not a chance, sources confided. But because these two young stars are so hounded by paparazzi everywhere they go, there is a fear of overexposure when there is still another “High School Musical” movie to make.
I
wondered if the director ever worries that it might be too much attention, too soon, for his young cast.
“Yeah, I do,” he admitted. “Not that they can’t handle it or that they can’t be responsible. It’s just that they’re chased around a lot. I’m discovering that it’s hard for them to have personal lives - just to step outside of an apartment and go down the street and grab a sandwich is a thing of their past. That bothers me.”
… thats a bit of confusing report from fox news, i think i will stick to daily news.
Thanks for posting the two excerpts together like that V-Loyalist because they do seem to contradict each other. Here’s what I think probably happened the higher ups at Disney told Zac, Vanessa and Ashley they didn’t have to do the junket at the last minute. Fox News sees they aren’t there and mentions this to Kenny Ortega. He most likely contacted the higher ups and they told him everything was okay. So when he talked to the Daily News it had been smoothed over.
As Go Sox said it probably was a massive case of miscommunication on all sides.
Most probably troy, now i dont want to give that impression on Fox news but i dont like the way they announce Vanessa as High maintenance! no way!
Also if Zac and Vanessa were their in the afternoon like Kenny said it’s not like they did’nt bother to go at all so perhaps it was felt it would be nice for the other cast member’s to be in the limelight for a bit.
When it come’s to press work with HSM Zac and Vanessa are usually there everytime so I would imagine it was something to do with either Disney or their rep’s people.
Either way can’t wait for HSM to start filming and see how the new charector’s will mix things up.
