Older2008 Spirit Award Nominations
Actors Lisa Kudrow and Zach Braff announced the 2008 Film Independent’s Spirit Award nominations at Sofitel LA on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Best feature nominations: “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,” “I’m Not There,” “Juno,” “A Mighty Heart” and “Paranoid Park.”
Best actress nominations: Angelina Jolie ( “A Mighty Heart”), Sienna Miller (”Interview”), Ellen Page (”Juno”), Parker Posey (”Broken English”) and Tang Wei (”Lust, Caution”).
Best actor nominations: Pedro Castaneda (”August Evening”), Don Cheadle (”Talk to Me”), Philip Seymour Hoffman (”The Savages”), Frank Langella (”Starting Out in the Evening”) and Ton Leung (”Lust, Caution”).
Besides the two aforementioned nominations for A Mighty Heart, John Orloff was also nominated for Best first screenplay.

Either way, it is good to see BP marching forward with his Clinton Global committment and his rebuilding effort. I am happy that they are moving forward with the rebuilding of the Lower 9th ward. New Orleans is becoming a viable city once again, but the Lower 9th ward is still destroyed. New Orleans is one of my favorite city and my old stomping ground. I went to college there and still have family in the area. Peace to all.

you have a lot of insight, good post. Its a case, (sadly) of the more things change the more they remain the same. As an Activist for women rights and civil rights during the 60’s and 70’s. Some of us have not come a long way baby. Young women like Angelina have come a long way (girlfriend fly’s a plane, she is a humanitarian and an activist, a mom and loves her man, all while looking fabulous) Way to go Angie. Love her!

Nice that Brad’s project is moving ahead. He is one great guy! Love the interviews where he says that “Fatherhood is my greatest role yet”. Also love the interview in London. Miss not seeing the kids. But at least they are having some private time. Wish all would stop with the negatives about X, that is old hat and history.

If the girl was just cruising till a better deal comes along and here comes this once in a lifetime opportunity…I mean, Brad Pitt at his peak? That Brad Pitt that women were going ga-ga for, with the tight abs and lithe body that guys were killing themselves to have, the A-lister that looked like an archangel (he would have made a very good Michael, no offense to John Travolta) with the heavenly voice to boot. If I was that insecure woman who had wanted to show everybody how I can have this man eat out of my hand, why wouldn’t I go for it? Never mind that the guy was mostly depressed and just looking for a rebound relationship that wasn’t gonna tax his remaining strength and scoop up what little ego he’s got left. Who’s to know anyway? The ex wasn’t about to enlighten anybody.
She got lucky that she was able to guilt trip him into anything she wanted for years. She probably thought she could manipulate him forever but unfortunately for her, Angie came along to break him out of his trance. That blew the taco stand and got her out of business fast, LOL. Lightning seldom hits twice but it seems she’s not done hoping it will again (nor her fans).
