Ashley Tisdale performs double duty at the 2007 Annual Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony in New York City on Wednesday night. The 22-year-old High School Musical star co-hosted the event with former boybander Nick Lachey and sang “Last Christmas” and “Suddenly,” the fourth single off her debut album, Headstrong.

I wasn’t even going to post, but I figured you Ashley fans need a reality check. Vanessa’s working on her second album right now, and she’s auditioned for a movie role, one that, if she gets it, she’ll work on right before HSM 3. She’s promoting charity causes right now, and she applied for her drivers liscence as well. She’s also the spokesperson for Ecko and Neutregena (sp?). Just because you don’t SEE her doing something right now, doesn’t mean she ISN’T.
And to add to that, in all honesty, Van doesn’t even need to work. She’s gotten so much money from her CD, from HSM, from the two other movies she did before HSM. She’s earned EVERYTHING she has, and is entitled to a resting period. The past two years have been insane for her, between HSM, the tours, the concerts, her concert with the Cheetah girls, and a whole bunch of other stuff. She HAS worked hard, and there is NOTHING wrong with taking a break, especially when you’ve earned it.
As for Ashley, I think it’s time you really face facts. Ashley is an entertainer, not an artist. She lip-synched the entire thing, even my mom, who’s very slow on these things, could tell. And my mom and sister, who for some reason adore Ashley, both said she was trying to hard with her dance moves.
You guys really need to stop making excuses for this girl. If she is as talented as you all say, than she should have no problem singing live more often than she does, which is pretty darn close to never. And I’d just like to add that lip-synching is not something EVERYONE does. Even Vanessa, whom you all believe to be SO untalented, sang live during the HSM 1 and 2 concerts. I think that says a lot on it’s own.
Susanna, I wish you would take your “reality check” self righteous speech somewhere else. I know you were not personally addressing me, but I am an Ashley fan that DOES NOT bash on Vanessa and your post drove me to speak up about how I feel.
I don’t understand how if you weren’t “even going to post” why you felt so compelled to make assumptions and generalizations of Ashleys’ fans? I don’t agree with every comment on this thread. I think it’s disrespectful not to mention hurtful to use racial slurs and foul language against anyone (Vanessa or otherwise.)
All I’m saying is next time, maybe you ougt to seek out a particular commenter(s)and not make the generalization that every Ashley fan is some ignorant tween engaging in name calling and finger pointing. I’m a graduate student and I just so happen to also like HSM. But, it irks me to no end that people like you keep lumping all of us Ashley fans into this ‘big bully of Vanessa’ category. No, I don’t like Vanessa, but I also know how to keep my opinions to myself when I don’t have something nice to say about her or her fans.
I honestly don’t mean for my comment to come across nasty, but your post seems so negative, nit picky and downright mean hearted. Most of us here just like Ashley, simple as that. I am no ones’ movie director, voice or acting coach and I’m not going to give out a critique of what any star does. But for you to bring that attitude in here and dish out a critique that is completely one-sided and bias isn’t sitting so well with me, and frankly it’s unappreciated.
You should have stopped after you said I wasn’t personally addressing you, because that’s just it, I wasn’t. Before you get all defensive on me, maybe you should have read the majority of the posts before yours to see that I was CLEARLY talking to all the Ashley fans who feel the need to bash Vanessa in order to make Ashley look good. I was not talking to you in particular, or even people like you for that matter.
No where in my post did I say that Ashley fans are immature, little tweens. In fact, I was not even trying to imply that Ashley fans are immature or ignorant. It’s very unfortunate that THAT is what you believed my post was about when it was not it at all. My point was to show the people who insist that Ashley is better because Vanessa’s “not doing anything” that that simply isn’t the case. And since you said that you keep your opinions to yourself, then that certainly does not apply to you.
And, of course, the fact that I’m a Vanessa fan automatically makes me biased right? Because it’s not possible for me to simply dislike Ashley’s singing ability without it being one-sided as well? I suppose that’s more of an opinion than a fact, but now it’s my turn to come down on you. Before you come to a conclusion, it’s probably best to know the whole story first.
We could go back and forth with this possibly forever, but really, I’ve said all I needed to say. Have a nice day.
Susanna, I’m not trying to continue arguing or cause a rift with you- especially not on some gossip site. Like I said in my earlier post I did not mean for my posting directly to you to come off as nasty.
I actually went into the recent Vanessa thread about her charity work to ask some of the Zanessa angels how they combat the extreme negativity they face. I got some good advice, and hopefully have made a few new friendly acquaintances here on Just Jared.
I see you still have ammunition in you, which is valid I suppose. Vanessa (and Zac) are met with quite a bit of negativity by some immature fans on the threads. I’m honestly too old, and don’t care enough to making virtual enemies, so again I apologize if that is what you assumed I was after. I just wanted you to personally know that I am NOT one of the Ashley fans that your post was obviously directed toward, because I am tired of the vapid generalizations.

OMG! Ashley was da bomb! Even if she was lip-syncing, she still sounded good.
So what if she lip synced this song? At least only for this show. But she did sang live for her performance ‘Suddenly’ at the rockefeller center. She only lip synced one song and thats only for “Last Christmas”. When she had her Mall tour,She didnt lip synced. When she performed at Good Morning America,Live With Regis And Kelly,TRL And The Early Show.. She didnt lip synced. So give her a break already. She’s not use to lip syncing that’s why it’s bad. And thats her only lip syncing performance. And she also sang live at the Walt Disney Parade for the song from HSM 2’s ‘What Time Is It (Christmas Time)’
