OlderReese, Angelina Lead List of Highest-Paid Actresses
Reese Witherspoon ranked number one on The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the highest-paid actresses. The 31-year-old actress commands $15 million to $20 million a movie.
Angelina Jolie came in second, and Cameron Diaz came in third with a $15 million-per-movie requirement.
While Angelina and Reese are now asking for $15 million-$20 million per movie, they frequently agree to “no-quote deals” — deals in which the studios actually pay them far less than their usual fee (usually when they take on supporting roles).
Here’s The Hollywood Reporter’s top ten list:
1. Reese Witherspoon — $15 million-$20 million
2. Angelina Jolie — $15 million-$20 million
3. Cameron Diaz — $15+ million
4. Nicole Kidman — $10 million-$15 million
5. Renee Zellweger — $10 million-$15 million
6. Sandra Bullock — $10 million-$15 million
7. Julia Roberts — $10 million-$15 million
8. Drew Barrymore — $10 million-$12 million
9. Jodie Foster — $10 million-$12 million
10. Halle Berry — $10 million

I am really surprised that NAtalie Portman and Cate Blanchett aren’t on this list. And really. It looks as if Angie and Reese are tied for first place. How do they calculate this??? I doubt seriously if either Angie or Reese got that much $$$ for A Mighty Heart or for Rendition. Don’t tell me MEryl Streep cannot get this kind of $$$. She can open a movie for me any day!
BTW: In my home town, Rendition was in and out of the theatres so fast if you blinked you missed it. But Lions for Lambs and Michael Clayton are still showing. And Lions for Lambs was trashed by critics.

While I do love Cate, and think she is a wonderful actress, you have to admit, most of her films bomb.

Who knows what is going happen in the future? Maybe Brad breaks up with Angelina. and Cate divorces. Then they can be together. They have a great on-screen chemistry too and admire each other. Anything can happen in Hollywood.

I feel Cate is the perfect match to Brad. They both are low-key people. Not like Angelina, out there all the time. Angelina loves attention.
The studios spend their money but I don’t like to see the movies from none of then. At home I don’t allow the films of most of american actresses because I don’t like the most part of themes of their films!
I don’t recomend this actresses for other people too!! I like the french and English or german actresses and I like another kind of actors and most of then aren’t american too! I don’t like the american society and their values and I can’t laugh of their jokes in films! I wouldn’t like to visit USA or Hollywood again and I hope that I never meet this actresses front of me here in Europe too!

cj–great post and ITA GC did not deseve an Oscar for Syriana, sorry AG :-( You really have to see AOJJ, it starts slow, but then it hooks you. The acting from the whole cast was awesome. But, ohh man Brad was Jesse James, you don’t see him as Brad at all JMHO. I can’t wait to buy the DVD it is a keeper and will be a classic.

Maybe Cate gets about US$ 7-8m, thats why she gets so much projects, she is good and she is not that expensive. I think she is paid more for Indiana Jones. Catherine Z gets US$8 -9m and Scarlet, Natalie, Sienna, they are probably paid US$ 5m at most.

Aniston didn’t get most of her money from Plan B. She got most of it from Friends. People seem to forget that the last 4 years of Friends, that cast made some serious bank, plus the residuals earn them 5-8M/year.
The last 4 years of Friends earned them each 78 million dollars, add in the residuals plus what she earned for her film work.
I’m not an Aniston fan by any stretch, but, she didn’t earn the bulk from Plan B. She took her movies from there and her % fee of the movies that were made while Plan B was at WB. She received a small payout for her ownership, which was the minority. When Brad Grey left, his ownership went to Brad, with a % to Dede Gardner that was more than Aniston’s ownership.
It was done on purpose to force Aniston out. Brad, Brad Grey, Dede Gardner and the rest of the executives wanted Aniston out of the company when Brad and Aniston split. Brad Grey leaving to go to Paramount gave them the ammuniction to do it.

Your numbers are all WRONG !!! You cut and paste and INVENTED those numbers.
Aniston’s ratio is 1:17.
Tom Hank’s ratio is 1:12.
Tom Cruise’s ratio is 1:11.
The Forbes list just means that big stars like Tom Cruise, Will Smith, etc. because of their high salaries actually contrbute less to a film’s profitability, ratio-wise. On the other hand, Aniston contributes more because she is very CHEAP (ratio-wise).
Statistically, it is interpreted as: for every $110 million profits, Tom is being paid $10 million; for every $17 million profits, Aniston is being paid $1 million.
Even Tom has a lower ratio compare to Aniston, I would hire Tom because I can make $110M in profit vs Aniston’s profit of only $17M.
But in the final analysis, Hollywood bosses would prefer Tom over Aniston because $110 million is much greater than $17 million and with Aniston, a profit of $110 million is unlikely but a loss is highly probable.
Hollywood bosses may pay Tom Cruise higher salary because the risks are lower, while they may be hesitant to HIRE Aniston because the risks are greater.

Reese is a better actress than Angelina by far. However I think Jodie Foster should be #1. She is the only one on that list that really sells movies just with her name. Sandra is another actress who is also successful at the box office, so she should be paid better than Reese, even if Reese is a better actress. Both Reese and Angelina’s movie flopped big time this year. They don’t deserve to get paid that much. And Beowulf is not Angelina’s movie, she got paid that much (8M) because it was a high budget movie and because of the special effects, they knew it will sell. But if she would not have been in that movie, it still would have been a successful.
Cate is too good for Brad but then again so is Angelina.
