I must say I’m so proud of her giving her time and support to charities that truly shows her compassion to other people in need and I know that that is one of the good qualities that zac found in her.

Why We All Love Vanessa and Why Some People Hate Her

Most of us fell in love with Vanessa as the cute and bubbly Gabriella in High School Musical. It wasn’t long before we all realized someone else was falling in love with her, too. But, I won’t go there now. This is about Vanessa.

First of all, she is stunningly beautiful–even without makeup. One would expect a young girl with such beauty to be vain and full of self-importance. Not our Vanessa. How many 18-year olds who’ve made two mega-hit movies and a successful music album would hang out with her mother and younger sister or spend time doing charity work? Such down-to-earth behavior puts her at the top of my list as being a decent, very humble young lady.

Yes, she can act, she can sing, she can dance. And she is dating the one guy that about a million tween-age girls and some “older” females would love to have as their own heart monitor. None of this has gone to Vanessa’s head. She can still let loose with that giggle of hers that has us all laughing along. She’s not into drugs or stumbling out of the Viper Club at 3 am drunk. But wait a minute. She’s a Disney kid. We just have to find some fault with this girl. Got to dig up some dirt on her.

And somebody dug long and hard and they did find something. A simple photo sans clothes that she took when she was younger. A private photo. I don’t know the details, but my inner reasoning tells me that she was betrayed by someone that she considered to be a friend.

Why would the media and people in general go wild over this one single picture? This one mistake a young, decent girl made? Ah . . . here’s the news media’s one BIG chance to bring down a Disney kid. Let’s go in for the kill, folks. Let’s destroy her. And while we’re at it, let’s hit Disney as hard as we can, too.

Despite Vanessa’s recent accomplishments–her first music album selling more than 600,000 copies in the US and receiving Teen Choice break out album award, her being on People Magazine’s list of 21 and Under Hottest Breakout Stars–news account of these accomplishments or Internet article still mentions the PHOTOS (actually there was only one, but go figure).

What strikes me as uncanny, is that when people write about Lindsay Lohan, they never mention her past transgressions, (the girl who had internet pictures with another girl holding a knife to her throat, the girl who was arrested for DUI with cocaine in her pocket). No, the truly bad girls are forgiven. Poor Lindsay, we hope she gets her life together. Poor Lindsay . . . poor Lindsay . . . poor Lindsay . . . .

But, let a decent girl like Vanessa make ONE mistake and she is going to be crucified for eternity. When she turns forty, the announcement will be, “Vanessa Hudgens, whose nude photos appeared on the internet 40 years ago is celebrating her birthday today.”

Sad, but there is a cynical segment of our society who hates good girls. And if you happen to be a Disney kid, those jaded souls doubly hate you. Contemptuous people and the mocking news media won’t forgive a good girl for one transgression. But they will forgive the bad girls a thousand times.

But Vanessa is a strong, grounded person. She had a great childhood and is still close to her family, which means her roots are firmly anchored. She will succeed despite all the shallow people who throw pointless criticism at her.

At the AMAs, in that gold dress, she shone like the true star that she is. She was on People Magazines six best dressed ladies there, and after the voting, she was NUMBER ONE. That is the best way to put the mistake behind you, Vanessa, the best way to answer your critics.

Hold your head high and be proud of your accomplishments. You are already a star.
