Angelina Jolie and 6-year-old son Maddox talk with a member of the National Guard during a news conference in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward on Monday
Angie attended the news conference where partner Brad Pitt announced his latest “Make It Right” project to build affordable, environmentally friendly homes in the area devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
Brad has pledged $5 million of his own money toward the project and is asking for donations from church groups to corporations to “adopt a house” for $150,000 each.

In Southern Virginia Townhomes start at $200,000. You couldn’t find a new single family home for $150,000.

#10: Here in Cali, the lowest home you’ll find is $350,000. Besides, that is why he is asking for donations…to offset some of the costs so the new homeowners won’t have to shoulder the whole amount. Do you read English or do you just have this difficulty in reading comprehension?

I’m commenting from Australia so I don’t know much about your house prices, but you would expect to pay slightly more for an environmentally friendly house, & isn’t that what Brad is on about? Residents will reap the benefits for years to come, that ‘cheap’ housing won’t deliver even once!!!

Damn that’s a recruitment poster if I ever saw one!!!LOL!!!! Join the National Guard and meet Angelina!!! Most of the time a celebrity will use a charity to promote themselves. They don’t really stick with something. Katrina happened two years ago. Most people, including George Bush, have “moved on” & they are leaving the people of NOLA behind. But Brad saw an opportunity not only to help out, but to stay for the long haul and really make a difference. The opportunity he saw was to develop some environmentally friendly housing. It will lower utility bills and really help make things better. He is only one man. As rich as he is, he doesn’t have the kind of deep pockets the government or some foundations have. I think people should get behind this and make it work. I am going to donate to help build a house. That is what I am getting my brother for Christmas.
I think Brad and Angie are doing wonderful things in NO. Brad’s a new man because of his relationship with Angie. I’m so proud of him.

You can probably buy a house for $150,000 and below, but to build a house from scratch, $150,000 nowadays would be the bare minimum an individual could buy a new house for. Not to mention if these houses are to be environmentally viable then that would automatically add on to cost of building them. It’s not cheap, that’s for sure.
Does that mean last time when Pitt was there,Jolie was not in NO because If she was,she would attend the Press conference???

LOL!!! You couldn’t buy a shack for $150,000 where I live in Calif. Actually….I think I saw a shack in the woods in a real estate magazine going for $500,000. So, where I come from $150,000 is very, very, very affordable.

Saw Brad on the Today show and all I can say is that Angie is a very lucky woman. They both are. I don’t care what any negative person has to say about this couple, they make a perfect match. They bring out the best in each other and I just love watching them grow together.

Ok, I haven’t commented on it all weekend, but Angie looks gorgeous without makeup. She’s stunning in these pics, and Brad is sexy as hell. Maddox is just too precious for words, he’s gonna be a heart breaker when he gets older.
I guess it’s safe to assume that Angie’s done filming? It seems from an earlier article that they’re in New Orleans for the holidays.

i just hope they give these houses to people with good heads on their shoulders. i’ve lived in new orleans for 30 years and the most aggravating thing to see is all this money spent on building new houses for “low income families” and in a year are two they are all TRASHED!!! hate it. and you CAN NOT buy a house down here for 150,000, not since katrina. IF, and thats a big IF, you find one, its COMPLETELY GUTTED or just the trashiest thing ever not worth 50,000.

Home costs have skyrocketed in NOLA, $150,000 is actually on the low side. So many homes were damaged or destroyed, labor and material are in short supply and now home costs are much higher than before Katrina.
Did you guys notice that both Angelina and Brad are wearing rings on their right hand ring fingers? Does that symbolize anything, you think?
