But Brad saw an opportunity not only to help out, but to stay for the long haul and really make a difference. The opportunity he saw was to develop some environmentally friendly housing. It will lower utility bills and really help make things better. He is only one man. As rich as he is, he doesn’t have the kind of deep pockets the government or some foundations have. I think people should get behind this and make it work. I am going to donate to help build a house. That is what I am getting my brother for Christmas.

You can probably buy a house for $150,000 and below, but to build a house from scratch, $150,000 nowadays would be the bare minimum an individual could buy a new house for. Not to mention if these houses are to be environmentally viable then that would automatically add on to cost of building them. It’s not cheap, that’s for sure.

The Pitts Make It Right
It was press day for Brad Pitt today in New Orleans as he made the rounds in support of a new housing initiative called Make It Right for residents of the Ninth Ward devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Brad donated $5 million himself and is appealing for matching funds with the hopes that the project will be complete by next summer.

When asked by Ann Curry of The Today Show whether or not Make It Right was the most important thing to him, Brad answered that it was his family that was his priority and “that love of my family brings me here” to New Orleans to give back.

Angelina was on hand as well, with Maddox, milling about with civilians and regular folk, no makeup, and her hair obviously not blown out. Shocking. Can you imagine Jennifer Aniston stepping out to greet her public without having first consulted the services of Chris McMillan?

Having said that… Angie’s looked better. But I suppose that’s the point. The Pitts are too busy saving the world to care about appearances. And this is an honourable thing, though I do wish they’d bring back some Pitt P*rn in time for the holidays.

Only Pitt P*rn trumps Beckham P*rn…that story coming up.

Did somebody say $150K wasn’t affordable housing? In New York City, $150K will get you a cardboard box on the sidewalk. You have to rent out your kids to be able to afford to live in Manhattan. $150K for a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house is a fantastic deal anywhere, especially if the program is going to make funding available for low-to-moderate income buyers.

The worst thing about the situation in New Orleans right now is that people who were low-income renters before Katrina are having a hell of a time. They are about to be kicked out of their FEMA trailers (just in time for the holidays, isn’t that big of FEMA?), and there is absolutely nothing in New Orleans affordable for them to rent. Rents have doubled since Katrina hit. If they are kicked out of their trailers, some of them are going to end up in the street.

I think what Brad and Angelina are doing in New Orleans is great. You have to respect people who walk the walk as well as talk the talk. I wish a certain person who shall remain nameless would drag her ass up off her yoga mat and spend some of her $110 million where it would do people in need some good. Like it’s ever gonna happen.

You are so right, NYS is like California; 150,000 dollars per annum is considered poor income, don’t even think about living in Manhattan. Apartments now on sale in what used to be Harlem are selling for 2 million dollars ea and folks are lined up to get them.
$150, 000 for energy efficient housing, sounds reasonable anywhere, it will save money later. Angie’s is on a repeat of the daily show, right now. Love her!

No offense F&LP, I’m so with Jill on this. I watched the interview this am, for those saying Brad looked tired, ahhh there is a time difference, he looked better than I did at that time also maybe that is why Madd was there, before school as if it was anyones business but his parents. He’s learning to give to others, to help those who have been (and yes, the people of NOLA have been) forgotten. To help those who need help, to give back and save a life, or at the very least make it more joyful and secure by helping supply many of the things we take for granted. A home, food, clothes, safety, life. I sat with my family and watched this horror unfold, this did not have to happen. Hence the reason for Brad naming his foundation Making it Right. My family knows this Christmas, all of their gifts will be donations. There are certain lovely ladies on this thread that I wanted to do something special for during the holidays, no matter what their beliefs maybe. So I will also buy something from the ladies and gents of Just Jared. Trolls what are you doing to make the world a better place? Yes, all I’m doing is giving to this wonderful endeavor that Brad has taken on, but I’m sure it’s more than you’ve done or ever plan to do. Did any of you have somebody there during this tragedy? I did, a very wonderful friend. We lost touch with her and thought the worst. She made it home, it changed her forever. If you don’t care for the JP’s that is your right, but please have some common decency and stop vilifying them for helping people. Do you do more? In a business filled with jealousy and one-up-man-ship,what is gracious and classy is AJ supporting her Brad while he gives a speech but staying in the background the best she could for as widely sought after as she is. She fully acknowledges that this is HIS project and he should take credit and shine in the limelight. Sign of a strong relationship between two equally highly successful individuals with strong personalities in very competitive careers. I was just thinking about how these haters/tabloid people underestimate the Jolie-Pitts in relation to their commitment to each other and their family. What’s different in this relationship is that it’s not just talk with them, it’s action too. You have both Brad and Angie saying how much family means to them and how they want to keep their family together always, and you have their actions to prove that they mean it. They haven’t spent more than a week away from each other ever since they started their relationship. Like you said, they place a high value on their family, it’s their top priority. And if Ted C. is so, in the know, why does he have to ask someone about it 2 years later?

According to Ted, Angelina was supposed to be bored of Brad a long time ago. And his source on that would be Jenny S. They’re both recovering addicts and are part of the gay and lesbian community. Jenny S. knows less about Angelina and Brad’s relationship than a man on the moon.

That makes the Today Show, Larry King, ET, Access Hollywood, NPR’s ATC, and who knows who else. Yesssss!!!!

I so admire Angie and Brad for their humanitarian efforts. Lately, a lot of HW types have been following their lead by getting involved in various charitable causes. As a fan of the JP’s, I have also done my part by adding their charitable projects to the ones I have been supporting. Let’s hope more will do the same.

BAMPZS fans, have a good night. This project Brad has taken on is very important. Lets be honest here, I got vilified for saying hi in the past. Here is something that we as fans can actually discuss, see if there is a way to make a difference in peoples lives, to follow in the steps of those we admire, but noooo, lets fight with the trolls! I’m going to make a $100 donation on behalf of the fans of Just Jared. My holiday gift to you. Not much, but I’m hoping it will do some good for a family who at this point who still can’t get on a computer and voice their opinion here. Be angry with me if you wish, I’m mortified that we, as fans are spending more time engaging haters than trying to do something as a group. When PT wrote her Tab Report, every week she did, there was a collection taken at work instead of buying tabs. We sent them to hospital as a tribute to Angies mother. Say what you want about me, but at least I try to be proactive! I’m sure fans and haters will be upset, gosh I ruined your fighting fun! Stop it! This is not about Brad and Angie as a couple but about people who lost everything! HOW WOULD YOU FEEL! The world is watching as your life all you have worked for goes down the drain, literally and you have a bunch of people fighting about stupid stuff! Get real and grow up! My mothers side of the family is still trying to identify family graves from waaayyy back so they can be put back to rest. She, my aunt and her cousins gave blood for DNA which after the time since the relatives have been gone may not work, they are paying for it! We still don’t know where
3 are! But the stupidity rages on here! I found FF before Jared, because I thought it was a place women bonded, wrong, and it’s turning into that here! I don’t understand the hate on either side. Larry King is now 74 years old. Although 74 is not that old for this day and age, he had a heart attack and subsequently went through surgery for a blocked carotid artery this year. He also has type II diabetes. He has had numerous TIA’s which can greatly affect memory.

FALP - I concur with you. Although, his picture here at JJ looks really awful - he reminds me of one of my patient, the only difference is that at least LK was not drooling, although I can almost picture him in my mind, that he will be doing it in the next few years (sorry, it’s not nice of me to say such things….)

Ted may not place value on family, but, Brad and Angelina do. It’s always ashame, when anyone acts like those 4 kids don’t exist. And that these two haven’t formed a family together. Something neither did with anyone else.

That’s why they’ll always underestimate these two.

O2 - you’re way too nice about Ted. Ted underestimates them because he’s paid to. End of story. If E! ever decides to support the J-Ps, then Ted will be singing a different tune…like he did when Brad first dumped X.

All these articles are so great. These people are taking Brad seriously. This is what he has wanted most of his adult life. Not to be looked at as “pretty boy pitt” as Clooney use to call him. He is doing it. From Babel to AOJJ, Brad has gotten people who have not been Pitt fans to really respect his acting. Now this project. More respect. Without question Brad was not shallow before but his looks overshadowed things. Now with the help of Angelina, he is totally coming into his own. Call him old if you like just don’t call him Pretty boy Pitt. Brad Pitt is a respected man who has an amazing woman beside him and four great kids.

I was just thinking about how these haters/tabloid people underestimate the Jolie-Pitts in relation to their commitment to each other and their family. What’s different in this relationship is that it’s not just talk with them, it’s action too. You have both Brad and Angie saying how much family means to them and how they want to keep their family together always, and you have their actions to prove that they mean it. They haven’t spent more than a week away from each other ever since they started their relationship. Like you said, they place a high value on their family, it’s their top priority. Ted doesn’t know a damn thing about the JPs and I’m so happy about that. I’m sorry for his readers and the people who ask those wishing break-up questions. You know life sometimes can be ironic. Here you might be wishing for someone else’s family to break up and then in an ironic twist, it’s yours that ends up being broken.

Ted’s been saying for the last 12-16 months that Angie was going to get bored with Brad and dump him. Then last week he said the sex was still hot “as I’m painfully aware” so they’d be together for a good while longer.

In other words - Ted don’t know shite from shinola. Which also explains why he’s constantly stepping in a big steaming pile to placate his E!-supporting X readers.

Like I said the last time Ted’s name came up here - 3 years ago when Brad dumped X, and Ted still had some clout at E! - he spent the entire year gleefully cackling at X getting her come-uppance and how pitiful she was. Then his on-air profile took a nose-dive, E! trespassed on Brad’s property and almost got their pants sued off…and since then Ted has been anti-JP with a vengeance. If it weren’t so fcuking obvious that he’s just trying to hang on to his piddly little website job it would be downright funny. Instead it’s just pathetic. I bet he’s wishing now he hadn’t chucked his career as a legit journalist when E! came knocking on his office door at Premiere mag 10 years ago!
