The last time I checked ShitzySpamboJoeyGal, the American Cancer Society didn’t own the color pink. Maybe you’re confusing them with Prince, who seems to have bought the color purple from Crayola.

Yesterday at lunch I got an education on how tabloids get celebrity quotes and behind-the-scenes stories. I always thought that the source “close” to the celebrity quoted in a tabloid story must be a friend or family member.

But more often, “close” has more to do with proximity to a celebrity than an actual relationship with them.

Certain magazines hire people just to trail celebrities, without ever taking a picture. For example, a reporter on assignment from a tabloid magazine had to follow Britney Spears for three weeks, going to every fast food restarant imaginable along the way. He sat at the table next to hers, listening in on her conversations and writing them down. After three weeks he’d gained 15 pounds from all the fast food he’d eaten so he wouldn’t draw attention to himself.

Another classic tabloid plant are beautiful girls/reporters who are comp’d by a restaurant or club to mingle in the VIP lounges then report on the celebrity goings-on. As we left our lunch yesterday, a huge car pulled up in front of the restaurant, coming to a stop maybe two inches away from hitting my friend Rachel. A woman jumped out of the car with an enormous camera and ran across the street to Ono, where she hurriedly snapped a bunch of pictures of an oblivious celebrity through the restaurant window.

Observer2: Yes Brad had an affair. Admit it and move on. I personally have no problem with it because I think that Jen got the better end of the deal. Brad will do it again. Not for a few years but once a cheater always a cheater. He is all excited now but wait until Angie is in her forty’s and he has a hot new thing to do love scenes with in ten years. What I dislike is that Brad lies about it. He should just come clean and say he fell in love and couldn’t help it. The affair isn’t so bad the lying is. Brad and Angie need to get it together. So they had an affair and now they are together. Fine. So have children and get married. The kids need that. Obviously Brad doesn’t want to get married. As far as I am concerned if he refuses to marry Angie he is just using her. Sure he will have children with her, say she is smart on TV, and say his family comes first. But it really doesn’t if he isn’t willing to make that ulimate committment. What is so bad about marrying Angie? Does he love her or not? As long as he refuses to do this I really wonder about his motives.
