OlderAshley Tisdale Gets a Nose Job
Ashley Tisdale got a nose job on Friday in Los Angeles, reports People.
The bandaged High School Musical star gave a little interview about her rhinoplasty procedure:
On the same procedure that Ashlee Simpson had to have to correct her breathing: “Growing up I always knew I had a deviated septum on the right side of my nose, which caused trouble breathing. The older I got, the worse it got. I went to get it checked out, and the doctor told me the septum was 80 percent deviated and that I had two small fractures on my nose.”
On her recuperation: “I’m not feeling great today. It’s uncomfortable and I hope this is the only time I ever have to go through something like this.”
On her five-hour procedure: “I was completely scared. I wasn’t looking forward to the surgery at all. I actually had trouble sleeping for a week before.”
On not advocating plastic surgery and not recommending it to anyone else: “I didn’t do this because I believe in plastic surgery. I did this to help my health. I literally almost could not breathe out of the right side of my nose. I want my fans to know the truth. I’m not someone who is going to act like I had nothing done. I just want to be honest because my fans are everything to me.”
Tisdale, 22, will be fully recovered for the filming of High School Musical 3, which begins Spring 2008.

I love that she had this done because she needed to for a medicial reason and people are still bashing her. Its not uncommon for people to have to do this if they have trouble breathing. My mom went though something similar.

This is interesting to me….I have a question:
I am a grown adult, and I’m certainly not a fan of these high school children, so I haven’t spent hours on end staring at photos of her, so I really don’t know if there’s much of a difference in the look of her face. This is more a general question about nose jobs and “divated septums”, which is the common reason for having surgery on your nose without seeming vain.
My question is this: Is it not possible to correct a divated septum without changing the structure of your nose??

I think that it’s great that she did if it helped her health, and even if she would have done plastic surgery, who cares, it’s non of our bussiness what she does or doesn’t do, as long as it something she wants then it’s all fine.

First of all, she is stunningly beautiful–even without makeup. One would expect a young girl with such beauty to be vain and full of self-importance. Not our Vanessa. How many 18-year olds who’ve made two mega-hit movies and a successful music album would hang out with her mother and younger sister or spend time doing charity work? Such down-to-earth behavior puts her at the top of my list as being a decent, very humble young lady.
Yes, she can act, she can sing, she can dance. And she is dating the one guy that about a million tween-age girls and some “older” females would love to have as their own heart monitor. None of this has gone to Vanessa’s head. She can still let loose with that giggle of hers that has us all laughing along. She’s not into drugs or stumbling out of the Viper Club at 3 am drunk. But wait a minute. She’s a Disney kid. We just have to find some fault with this girl. Got to dig up some dirt on her.
And somebody dug long and hard and they did find something. A simple photo sans clothes that she took when she was younger. A private photo. I don’t know the details, but my inner reasoning tells me that she was betrayed by someone that she considered to be a friend.
Why would the media and people in general go wild over this one single picture? This one mistake a young, decent girl made? Ah . . . here’s the news media’s one BIG chance to bring down a Disney kid. Let’s go in for the kill, folks. Let’s destroy her. And while we’re at it, let’s hit Disney as hard as we can, too.
Despite Vanessa’s recent accomplishments–her first music album selling more than 600,000 copies in the US and receiving Teen Choice break out album award, her being on People Magazine’s list of 21 and Under Hottest Breakout Stars–news account of these accomplishments or Internet article still mentions the PHOTOS (actually there was only one, but go figure).
What strikes me as uncanny, is that when people write about Lindsay Lohan, they never mention her past transgressions, (the girl who had internet pictures with another girl holding a knife to her throat, the girl who was arrested for DUI with cocaine in her pocket). No, the truly bad girls are forgiven. Poor Lindsay, we hope she gets her life together. Poor Lindsay . . . poor Lindsay . . . poor Lindsay . . . .
But, let a decent girl like Vanessa make ONE mistake and she is going to be crucified for eternity. When she turns forty, the announcement will be, “Vanessa Hudgens, whose nude photos appeared on the internet 40 years ago is celebrating her birthday today.”
Sad, but there is a cynical segment of our society who hates good girls. And if you happen to be a Disney kid, those jaded souls doubly hate you. Contemptuous people and the mocking news media won’t forgive a good girl for one transgression. But they will forgive the bad girls a thousand times.
But Vanessa is a strong, grounded person. She had a great childhood and is still close to her family, which means her roots are firmly anchored. She will succeed despite all the shallow people who throw pointless criticism at her.
At the AMAs, in that gold dress, she shone like the true star that she is. She was on People Magazines six best dressed ladies there, and after the voting, she was NUMBER ONE. That is the best way to put the mistake behind you, Vanessa, the best way to answer your critics.
Hold your head high and be proud of your accomplishments. You are already a star.

wow so sad. a deviated septum does NOT require your entire nose to be fixed. a deviated septum can be corrected with a surgical procedure known as a septoplasty, which enters through the nostrils and cuts away the obtruding matter! i know because my mom had a deviated septum which caused her to snore very loudly when she slept and she got septoplasty and guess what she didn’t need a nose job! stupid ashley tisdale she is a fake and hypocrite. she looked fine before she got the surgery.

UHM HELLO?! she didn’t do it to do it. SHe had a deviated septum, it’s a normal thing to have I had one and I had to get surgery for it to get redone. It does fix your nose and make it as flawless as possible but that’s just a plus. If she didn’t have a deviated septum she wouldn’t have gotten it done cuz no doctors would allow her to. okkk i juss have a question… Ashley says she has a really hard time breathing with the whole deviated nose thing or watev.. Buutt heellloo she was on tour.. shouldn’t she have been like completely un able to do the HSM tour because it would’ve been hard for her to breathe ?? hmm.. haha yeahh thats funny … ashley and ashlee simpson have soo much in common… they both are fake blondes who have had nose jobs.. they both have had nose jobs.. they both can’t sing… they both want to be juss like jessica simpson.. hah
I agree with those of you who believe she did this because of vanity, not health reasons. My father is having surgery for a deviated septum over Christmas, and rhinoplasty has no part in the operation. Obviously, Ashley is using her health as an excuse, saying “Ignore the fact that I have the largest nose of the HSM cast and that it’s the dominating feature of my face and I want to change!” I don’t believe a word of it. If she could “hardly breathe,” then how the hell did she manage to sing, dance, and such?
Also, for those of you who think it “noble” of her to admit to plastic surgery–trust me, her publicist advised her to do it. Nowadays if you obviously have had plastic surgery but don’t admit to it (a la Ashlee Simpson) you will get a lot of negative backlash. Certainly her publicist, understanding the consequences of this, advised her to go public with “a surgery” but claim it was for health reasons so we’d feel sympathetic.
What makes me angry is that Tisdale’s fanbase (mostly girls of an impressionable age) are going to get the wrong message: Once they find out that she, what with all her success and talent and NATURAL beauty, felt the need to change herself, how will they be expected to have any sort of self-esteem? They idolize Tisdale, and she’s making a bad example of herself by doing this. Not to mention she’s ruined her iconic face, possibly destroying her chance of getting any other jobs once the HSM frenzy dies down. I mean, you might as well not audition if no one recognizes you because you had rhinoplasty. She made a bad decision, period.
Yeah okay, if she was going to be this up front and not hide it, she should have just said the whole truth but of course no she is a “role model”. Most people with a deviated septum do not need to get a rhinoplasty and the procedure you do get done usually doesn’t leave a noticable change to your nose. She’s always been hoovering on the fake line with no natural beauty and very minimal talent.
I should add a rhinoplasty does also fix the the deviated septum but its foremost a procedure. CLearly she wanted a new nose, which I guess I’m being harsh about, her nose was the worst part of her so she probably would want to get rid of it.

Surgery for a deviated septum (which I had years ago) does NOT last 5 hours (unless there were MAJOR complications) & does NOT make your nose smaller/narrower/whatever!!! My septum was severely deviated, and my surgery lasted MAYBE an hour-AND the appearance of my nose did NOT change AT ALL!! People that truly have surgery to correct a deviated septum never have to tell anyone afterwards (after the swelling goes down, that is) that they had it-to explain why it looks different. This is because the EAR, NOSE & THROAT DOCTOR (NOT PLASTIC SURGEON) only manipulates the cartilage to change the structure of your nose INTERNALLY, & will NOT CHANGE the external structure/appearance IN ANY WAY! Just admit you didn’t like your nose & while you underwent the deviated septum surgery (giving her the benefit of the doubt that maybe that’s why she originally did it), you decided to have it “tweaked”. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I feel for the girl. I had a deviated septum which required surgery 2 years ago. It was painful, but necessary because I was breathing only about 45% of air through both nostrils. I remember having to deflect taunting that I had a “nose job”, when there was NO rhinoplasty performed. A rather nasty professor at my university even announced to an entire class how I “looked good for just having had a nose job.” My nose looks exactly the same as it did before- work was only done on the inside nasal cavity, not the exterior.
I guess time (and pictures) will tell if Ashley simply had her septum fixed or if she in fact had rhinoplasty surgery. It’s unfortunate that this only provides more fuel to the fire for judgemental non-Ashley fans.
I’m sorry she even felt pressure to justify whatever she chooses to do to her body. I’ve always liked her for her charisma and presence- not her nose.

Just wanted to add that I had a deviated septum & had nose blocks for over 20yrs. Finally got it surgically rectified by an E N T specialist. My nose is no bigger or smaller.Looks the same. Just had cotton covering my nose for the bleeding.Had to breathe through my mouth for a week.Maybe Ashley needed plastic surgery as she says she had a broken nose which needed to be straightened.Sorry, am not an authority on this, just relating my experience.

Ashley is not ugly whatsoever before or after the surgery..even though we haven’t seen any pictures yet. I’d like to see what you people look like. In a way, I feel bad for Ashley. No matter what she does, people will point fingers and try to bring her down. However, I always thought Ashley was strong enough to ignore all those hateful things said about her. I guess will find out when that bandaid comes off whether she really is strong enough to ignore haters or not.
I for one, know little about deviated septums, but if it was really 80% deviated, I’m almost positive we would have heard something in her voice that alluded to it. 80% of anything is bad, and if she really couldn’t breath like she says she couldn’t then I assume the problem would have been taken care of a long time ago. I also know that the surgery to fix a devaited septum is a quick procedure, not even five hours long, and does not require the reshaping of a nose at all.
I don’t approve of plastic surgery. Every girl is uber sensitive about their bodies, including me, but I don’t believe changing it is the way to go. I’d be very disappointed in her if she really DID get a nose job. The one thing I sorta kinda liked about her, was the fact that even though she has never been drop-dead gorgeous, she’s never seemed to have a problem with it. Here’s to hoping Ashley rised above the influence and really is true to her word.

No a deviated septurn does sometimesneed surgery. I had to have plastic surgery due to that.
This wasn’t to make her look more beautiful, it’s because she’s had problems breathing out of her right nostril. Ashley likes the way she is, and if I looked like her so would I.. this was just to correct her breathing difficulties.
If you actually READ the article, Ashley said plastic surgery isn’t in her future after this. It’s a painful and greuling process of recovering. She had to do this so she could BREATHE, not for looks. I respect Ashley’s decision. Get well, Ash!
