OlderBrad Pitt Greenlights “Make It Right” Project
Actor-activist Brad Pitt announced more details of his affordable housing “Make it Right” project for the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans on Monday’s Today show. The first of at least 150 environmentally friendly homes will be ready by next summer.
On putting his money where his mouth is after pledging $5 million toward the reconstruction: “This area where we’re standing right now, they lost over 5,000 [homes]. I’m hoping we can expand over to the rest of New Orleans. There’s no reason why we need to stop here. It’s just going to be if we can get the financial support to make up the difference people need to return to their homes.”
On asking for money to make it happen: “This is an adopt-a-house campaign. I’m asking for foundations, for high net-worth individuals, for church groups, for corporations to come in to adopt a home. Basically, $150,000 will get a family back in their home.”

Thanks Jared for this thread, Angie must be so proud of her man. How can anyone criticize them when they are doing such good for mankind.
Ann Curry didn’t fawn too much over him this time, which was good. She stayed on the topic of everything Brad wanted to do, and he talked about everything. Or is it Diane Sawyer who fawns? I like that he reinforced his “family first” motto though. :)

They got Brad again at CNN in a few minutes. They are showing him as he walks around and does things (don’t know what he’s doing but he was handing a bike to somebody). Guess they are devoting plenty of coverage on this project.

Brad and Angie are so lucky to have each other, they support each other in everything. He said it himself, his love for his family makes him want to help. He puts himself in other people’s shoes and helps for the simple reason that it could be him and his family in a terrible situation. He understands how it would feel and acts on it. Brad and Angelina have shown that not all celebrities and rich people turn their nose up at the less fortunate. They both are as selfless as can be. Thank you Brad for all your help in New Orleans, thank you Angie for loving him and supporting him. Thank you Angie for everything you do for the U.N, thank you Brad for loving her and supporting her. Thank you both for everything you do around the world. Your children are the luckiest for having you as parents, and they will learn from the best. Just THANK YOU.

I am reading all the comments and I have tears in my eyes for all the caring Jolie-Pitt fans who support them. God bless all.
If anybody really wants to help, a cash donation of 5 or 10 bucks is okay. On that list is a line for cash donations. If a lot of people gave 10 bucks, it will add up and still make a big difference from 0 dollars. Every little bit helps when you are in need.
When I was in school, us kids used to give our soda pop money when the alms box comes around. It helped a lot of hungry people we were told and it was only a day that we didn’t get to drink soda during recess. Now it’s you can do away without Starbucks for a day so it’s okay.
I just came back from my trip to this wonderful sight. Thank you so much Jared for the updates about the family and MIR project.
