OlderBrad Pitt Greenlights “Make It Right” Project
Actor-activist Brad Pitt announced more details of his affordable housing “Make it Right” project for the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans on Monday’s Today show. The first of at least 150 environmentally friendly homes will be ready by next summer.
On putting his money where his mouth is after pledging $5 million toward the reconstruction: “This area where we’re standing right now, they lost over 5,000 [homes]. I’m hoping we can expand over to the rest of New Orleans. There’s no reason why we need to stop here. It’s just going to be if we can get the financial support to make up the difference people need to return to their homes.”
On asking for money to make it happen: “This is an adopt-a-house campaign. I’m asking for foundations, for high net-worth individuals, for church groups, for corporations to come in to adopt a home. Basically, $150,000 will get a family back in their home.”

Seriously, I taped the interview because I knew it would happen, lol. Two seconds in, if I wasn’t watching his yummy lips move, I was fixated on his eyes. I thought it was so cute the way he didn’t quite know how to answer at times and seemed sort of shy about it. All he knows is that he wants to help and that’s it. He’s so freaking cute! So I rewound my tape and rewatched the interview to get it all in because I drifted off the first time, lol.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve said it before, but he’s like fine wine. I think he was good-looking when he was young, but life experience sure agrees with him! He’s ridiculously HOT these days! His generosity and humility and how grateful he is for his family make him that much hotter. That goes for Angie too. I love her because of her awareness, generosity and humility, not just because she’s physically gorgeous.

James’ parents had originally given him the the middle name of Shiloh, but changed their mind before the paperwork was finalized, and decided to name him James Haven Voight. When Brad and Angie were pregnant, they approached James and asked him if it was OK to name their little one Shiloh. James says he was very touched and honored by this. That’s how we got Shiloh’s name.

While filming on a set in New Orleans, actor Brad Pitt became seduced by the powerful image of a pink-clad CGI house within the lush Louisiana surroundings. He saw the pink structure as a metaphor, representing the future of renewed housing for those displaced by the recent disasters.
With the vision fresh in his mind, he picked up the phone and described the concept to the Los Angeles office of Graft. A hurried telephone conversation was followed by a lengthy brainstorming session over a number of bottles of Pinot Noir. The master plan was confirmed, and work began the next morning.
