Critics: Johnny Depp is Bloody Good!

Johnny Depp keeps with the bloody theme at the New York premiere of the Tim Burton-directed Sweeney Todd at the Ziegfeld Theater on Monday in New York City.

The film, the silver-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical thriller, is scheduled for a nationwide release on December 21st.

Here are some of the early reviews from last night’s screening. Critics are bloody loving it!

His acting is just amazing. He jumps into a character like few artists that are around now. I love that he is and has always been a bit of an eccentric character. He’s not trying hard, he is being himself.

Yes for both Johnny and Sweeny Todd!!! Ever since I heard this was being made into a film I have been itching for it to be done so I can view it!! And the fact that Johnny, my all time favorite actor, is in it as Sweeny AND Tim Burton is directing it is just like all the cherries in the world on top of this ice cream cake! On top of all that yummy-ness it is a musical! Gah, musicals how I love thee, I have been waiting so long to see Sweeny Todd so I will def be there opening weekend to fall in love with a demon barber of fleet street!

And Johnny looks damn good, love the black and red! All the awesome, amazing talents are wearing it now a days! at anyone who gets that….

Wow. I didn’t think anyone would hate Johnny Depp out of all of the crazies in lalaland. I don’t know why but I am almost sorry for you because to me, he’s always the coolest and sweetest man and it’s a shame you can’t see past his “weird” proclivities.

I think that sentence shows your credibility. You can’t stand him because he ‘looks’ like a creep? Have you ever actually sat down and watched one of his movies before you say such a thing? No ‘Pirates’, doesn’t count.

#22, reviews from Variety and Hollywood Reporter were already released and they seemed to love it. They rave both Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. One says that they couldn’t have had a more perfect director for the film. One says the adaptation is satisfying…etc… In a nutshell, I can’t wait!

What, so he can be like every other average joe actor around these days? Johnny keeps things interesting and does things he wants to do and doesnt do things for the money.

Can’t wait for this movie, its a shame we have to wait until the New Year to see it in the UK.
