Angelina Jolie is The Sexiest Movie Star

Angelina Jolie is The Sexiest Movie Star

Angelina Jolie tops Empire Magazine’s Top 100 Sexiest Movie Stars. They say her sexiest moment was “beating the hell out of Brad Pitt in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and then banging the hell out of him by way of apology.”

And here’s what Empire had to say: “Jolie seems to have been precision built to turn cinema audiences into drooling wrecks. The pneumatic figure, the feline eyes, the lips that could have been stung by several hives of bees. Simply unimprovable.”

As for partner Brad Pitt, he came in at #7. We learn his high school nickname was “Pitt bull” and here’s what Empire had to say about the stud: “So empirically good-looking that you’d have to hate him if he wasn’t clearly such a nice guy with it. The eyes, the smile, the rippling six-pack despite being the wrong side of 40 – he’s the man men dream of being and women dream their man could be.”

And to save you some clicking, here’s the top ten: 1. Angelina Jolie 2. Natalie Portman 3. Daniel Craig 4. Jessica Alba 5. Johnny Depp 6. Eva Green 7. Brad Pitt 8. Scarlett Johansson 9. Keira Knightley 10. Gerard Butler

I don’t think the WGA is being greedy at all. They and the other unions have been fcked over by the studios for so long that they are trying to make a stand. There are many issues.

+++++++++++

Hey Groundcontrol -

I misread the story last night. Someone pointed out my error to me and I went back and found the story. Now that I see it’s $250 per ep for the entire year…no, they’re not being greedy. They’re simply trying to keep from getting stabbed in the back!

An hour show may have 10 writers that take turns doing scripts. Someone could end up doing 3 or 4 scripts and only make $1,000 for the online use. That’s total BS.

Observer2 @ 12/08/2007 at 11:29 pm

I have a question: If the studios do not want to accept the offer of WGA, as a signal for the upcoming negotiations with DGA and SAG, why do not these two unions act in solidarity with the WGA? I am not suggesting a solidarity strike, but there are many ways unions can support each other, especially if the latter negotiation round can see what is coming..

This may very well be a rhetorical (or redundant) question, since my reading of history of US unions is very limited.

PT - remember that song, “When you’re hot you’re hot. When you’re not you’re not.”?
It’s so true.Brad is hot and it’s not just his physical appearance.

groundcontrol @ 12/08/2007 at 11:56 pm

Here is some more info about the strike. The WGA was able to get an end of contract date moved to late fall. That was a good thing since the studios have less of an advantage with a strike now than if the strike was in June. The studios can outlast the unions easily with June strikes. The WGA was the only union that was able to get the extended date (Contract up end Oct). The ideal situation is to have them all end at once so they can all go out on strike together.

Explore the blog. It’s incredibly informative about how the undustry works and how the other unions are treated. The unions are trying to get benefits & more protections for other workers in the industry as well - grips, etc.

Moguls Break Off Talks Without Real Offer

As of right now, the Moguls have broken off the talks with a very long, very prepared and very nasty statement. It’s also full of half-truths and outright lies.

It clearly took someone some time to write, and a lot of thought has gone into crafting it for maximum potential dissent within the ranks. It’s a PR doc, and it’s very well-written. You don’t create something like this in ten minutes, or even an hour. This kind of thing takes days, especially if a large group of CEO’s have to sign off on it.

So they’ve been planning this for a while. Which doesn’t speak to good faith in the negotiation on their side.

One of the sticking points, apparently, was our leadership’s refusal to promise they would cross a SAG picket line. It certainly appears that someone is planning for another strike sometime soon. And they want to crush that union, too. Assuming, of course, that they can crush us.

We’re going to have more on this soon, but right now, all I can say is: remember that a very, very expensive consultant has orchestrated all of this for precisely one reason — to win. This isn’t about the moguls being “reasonable” or protecting the internet streaming business (that is really so laughable it was almost impossible to type) or any of the things that document talks about.

It’s about winning. And they can only win if we let it happen.

Stay strong, we’ll have more soon.

WGA’s Response to AMPTP Breaking Off Talks
This is the letter that was just sent to the membership:

AMPTP BREAKS OFF NEGOTIATIONS

Today, after three days of discussions, the AMPTP came back to us with a proposal that included a total rejection of our proposal on Internet streaming of December 3.

They are holding to their offer of a $250 fixed residual for unlimited one year streaming after a six-week window of free use. They still insist on the DVD rate for Internet downloads.

They refuse to cover original material made for new media.

This offer was accompanied by an ultimatum: the AMPTP demands we give up several of our proposals, including Fair Market Value (our protection against vertical integration and self-dealing), animation, reality, and, most crucially, any proposal that uses distributor’s gross as a basis for residuals. This would require us to concede most of our Internet proposal as a precondition for continued bargaining. The AMPTP insists we let them do to the Internet what they did to home video.

We received a similar ultimatum through back channels prior to the discussions of November 4. At that time, we were assured that if we took DVD’s off the table, we would get a fair offer on new media issues. That offer never materialized.

We reject the idea of an ultimatum. Although a number of items we have on the table are negotiable, we cannot be forced to bargain with ourselves. The AMPTP has many proposals on the table that are unacceptable to writers, but we have never delivered ultimatums.

As we prepared our counter-offer, at 6:05 p.m., Nick Counter came and said to us, in the mediator’s presence: “We are leaving. When you write us a letter saying you will take all these items off the table, we will reschedule negotiations with you.” Within minutes, the AMPTP had posted a lengthy statement announcing the breakdown of negotiations.

We remain ready and willing to negotiate, no matter how intransigent our bargaining partners are, because the stakes are simply too high. We were prepared to counter their proposal tonight, and when any of them are ready to return to the table, we’re here, ready to make a fair deal.

The Producers don’t want to give into the WGA and give them a sweet deal. They still have to deal with the DGA and SAG coming up.

If they don’t fold for the WGA, it gives them greater leverage in their negotiations with the DGA and SAG. The 2 unions that are looking at striking in the summer of 2008. The two unions that can essentially stop HW in their tracks, the moment they do. Everything shuts down. TV and movies. The moment they strike.

++++++++++++++

It’s obvious the studio is trying to put a beatdown on the writers to send a message to the other 2 unions, but they’re missing a key point - if they have no scripts, they don’t need actors and directors! LOL!

If I were any and/or all of those unions I would make the studios have to share the TRUE numbers of their net profits and not those fake accounting numbers they give out to hide their money. The unions should get a copy of the same report they get inside the studio. Maybe if they thought the studios were playing fair with them they would be easier to negotiate with. The studios set the tone when people realized they were deflating their net profit margins. I scratched my head when I read that. Did they really think no one would notice?

There is a picture of BP and AJ on yahoo. I tried to post link but waiting moderation.

There are stories that the WGA is asking the DGA to not start their negotiations early. That they wait until the WGA and the producers have reached an agreement. The DGA and SAG usually start initial talks 6 months early.

The Producers are trying to break the HW unions and unfortunately, for the WGA, they’re the weakest in terms of power of the three.

It will be interesting to hear what they say they’ll do and if this strike backs into the next two possibles.

This tv season is already down the drain and I’ve no doubt that more movies, that were greenlit, will be stalled, due to the Writer’s strike.

Wow PT is running the blog tonight. I love your wit and snark. I am beat after shoping in looneyville Manhattan where there were literally a million people in the streets from 57th Street to 34th street. This included the bulk of the crowd looking to see the tree at Rockefeller Center. The store Abercrombie & Fitch had over 100 people on line to GET IN the store! It was insanity. They had red velvet ropes like it was a club! LOL!!! I took a commuter bus from that stores location and rode downtown and saw everything from there.

Here’s an article I found in my favorites. I’m cleaning everyting up so I’m posting it here. I don’t know if I ever posted this but nontheless it is interesting to me. I’m tired. Good night all.

However, who cares about real estate when stuff’s been going around the web about this earth-shattering break-up. One email I got is the best (and maybe old news to you right now, but I’ll share it anyway):

Letter from an Unknown Woman: (or Fame Will Never Bring You Happiness)(or, Max Died Over the Weekend)

The dirt they found out: Brad and Jen have been on the outs for two years now — and it all comes down to the baby issue. She clearly does not want kids and has been delaying him at all costs … but now she has 6 movies lined up over the next 2 years, and Brad has finally caught on that his wife will do anything BUT have his baby. She has deep mother issues, which also plays into this mess.

(Ed. Note: The messy part cannot be printed; not here anyway. That’s their problem, not mine … although who knows, maybe it’s yours too. No problem’s unique.)

As for their new years getaway: It was Courtney Cox’s idea since she was hoping this trip would bring them close again (which is why Courtney & David tagged along — in case Brad & Jen needed some guidance.) But their last-ditch attempt only proved how different they are — she wants to be a big movie star, he is content with making a movie here and there and being a dad full-time, and he thought she wanted the same.

I am no Brad Pitt lover (since “my husband” is George Clooney!) but I have to say she is one stupid girl for giving up this man for MORE fame and fortune. It’s the oldest lesson in the book that money and fame will never bring you true happiness … but I personally think she is headed for a breakdown since her therapist died in December, so I’m sure she feels totally lost and out of control.

PT, some are saying that is why the producers are basically jerking the writer’s chains. They don’t want to open their books to them. They’re getting nervous at the idea of having to do that.

Thank you for the pointer. I forwarded the address to several European friends who have been following the strike.

LOL. I know. They were actually there. With the BW 10 MFP of 2006, they weren’t. She couldn’t get them to do an interview. Though she tried. She tried very hard and they kept saying no. The only time that Brad has agreed to interview with BW was in 2001 for Ocean’s 11 and that was with the whole cast. Otherwise, he’s only done sit downs with Diane Sawyer.

—————————————-

Speaking of which, I have to say, even though I love them, Brad and Angie chose the worst people to interview them, LOL

Larry King = that old **** needs to retire. He was trying to get Brad talking about the fake adoption story from Intouch regarding Z. He’s just so out of it.

Ann Curry = that woman is just frustrating. She tries to be so dramatic about everything. Even Angie sometimes gives her looks like “WTF woman? It’s not that serious!!!”

Diane Sawyer = What was the difference between kissing Matt and Brad? That question was the end of what I could tolerate from her. Also, she used to work for the Nixon Administration. Enough said.

B and A need to stick to Charlie Rose, Jon Stewart, and that Newsweek guy who interviewed Angelina in India. That lady who interviewed Angelina when she was pregnant and wearing that grey skirt and sweater set was also really good. She works for Dateline, I believe.

Hollywood stars Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Denzel Washington, Jude Law and Sylvester Stallone looked on approvingly as Sir Tom Jones belted out the British national anthem but British hundreds of fans showed total disrepect for the American anthem and jeered throughout.

newbie

So I made a mistake with one LETTER. So did you.
Undeserving is one word. Also, in good English you do not say “secondly” or “thirdly”, but simply second or
third.

+++++++++++++

ROTFLMAO. Who’s Style Manual are you using? I say “secondly” and “thirdly” all the time and nobody here has felt the need to correct my grammar.

It is prefectly CORRECT ENGLISH, not “good English” as long as the style is the same throughout your theme. If you start with, “First”, then “secondly” and “thirdly” are the appropriate way in which to continue to list your points. Check out Roberts Rules Of English sometime.
