Beyonce - “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”
During last night’s Movies Rock, Beyonce (in Elie Saab) opened up the show and sang a rousing rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” most famously performed by Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale in the 1939 musical fantasy film The Wizard of Oz.
Naturally, Beyonce received a standing ovation after her spectacular performance.

YOU PROBABLY HATE HER CUS SHE BLACK.

BEYONCE FER EVER.
you say shes over-rated VANESSA HUDGENS is over-rated u all see her daily with pictures and videos its like UHHHH STOP SHOWING HER STOP WITH ZANESSA.
but with beyonce you talk about her.
SHUT UP ******* DOUCHES.
No one will ever beat Katherine McPhee’s version of the song. I don’t even like her that much but the way she sings it is absolutely spectacular.
no one will EVER be better than Judy Garland’s version. it is her song. she put so much emotion into it, she had it simple and understated and let the feelings and the lyrics speak.
Judy’s version has lasted almost 70 years. it’s HER song.
also the song isn’t called “Somewhere over the rainbow”
the title is just “Over the Rainbow”
Love her! She has the most amazing voice! And the dress…gorgeous…clearly ELIE SAAB!! He makes beautiful dresses. Without a doubt my favorite designer!
dis song is so beautiful.^^
Not Barbra Streisand, not Beyonce, not anybody (including Judy Garland herself in her later years) EVER sang it as touching and beautifully as 15 year old Judy Garland in the original movie.
Flawless and emotional! Just WOW!
Absolutely beautiful. And y’all HATERS need to back off.
No one said Beyonce wanna top or beat the original version! Says who? Both totally different version! Beyonce made this song on her own. She add some jazz blues in it that no one can.
Beyonce definitely didn’t over sing here. AT ALL. Y’all need to check your ear seriously. She sang it so beautiful, subtle and smooth. And the note and run of Beyonce’s vocal are absolutely amazing. No one can do it like her.
So shut up, and why bother coming here if you gonna hate on her. Stupid. The standing ovation proves that Beyonce did this fantastic.
I’m not that big stans of Beyonce at all. But no one can deny she did excellent here.
Beyonce did a wonderful job on this. I can’t hate this performance for some reason. She did awesome.
All saying Beyonce’s version isn’t good is closed-minded and young. If you paid attention, you’ d’ realized EVERY song’s version was changed to not sound like the original. Beyonce did a wonderful bluesy rendition and got a standing “o” - well deserved. Any one who wants her to go away - don’t be mad because she’s better than the person you like. She’s #1 and that’s why she opened the show. Not katherine or whomever other version you like. They didn’t get them, they got Beyonce because she can sing in any genre and look good while doing it. She doesn’t try to be seen - she’s followed - it’s a difference haters. Keep looking and sounding beautiful Bey - you’re still killing ‘em.
y’all haters should shut the hell up! she killed this performance. it’s a vulnerable, emotional song, that requires to sang in subtle manner. she preserve the innocence to the song, with right vocal power and control, without oversinging it like patti.the crowd definitely received her well with that standing ovation
To say she butchered it is an understatement. she ******* sucked~
To say she butchered it is an understatement. she ******* sucked~
This performance was bad. I have no idea why people are so in love with this girl - she sings every song the exact same way. Don’t get me wrong, she can sing. But the constant vibrato is so annoying after awhile. She needs to learn how to tone that down and sing smoother. Also, there was no emotion in her voice at all. I know the rendition she did was different from Judy’s but it totally ruined the point of the song. No one can sing this song better than Judy Garland did…ok, maybe Patti LaBelle comes close (her version is chilling). And Katherine McPhee’s was nice, but again, she’s another one that is so caught up in technique that the song loses it’s meaning in the process. Oh well…Beyonce, please fire your stylist ASAP. You’re a pretty girl who looks like sh!t 90% of the time and it makes no sense.
Too each his own, she was lovely and sang the song very well, she did not over do it like J-Hud always do Beyonce sang the song and that was that, that’s why she got a standing ovation cause she deserved it………………….
I guess Matthew made them stand up for her……….
Go buy the Beyonce Experience and then comment……..
she killed it!
get’em B!
i think she did a good idea i get everyone says she over sings but she naturally has a operatic voice she is why she has such a strong vibrato which in my opinion is good because she stands out i guess she needs to find an equal medium
Well i actually think she did a great performance, I love this song, and The wizard of oz. so, i trutly like it
Her voice is ok, but I don’t like the way how she performed it. Judy’s performing I like more, but the most I like is Israel Kamakawiwaole. He sings it with his heart.
im sorry beyonce has heer moments but this is not one she is over dramatic with all that yelling and is so overly played out and exposed this year
beyonce has her moments occasionally but this one is not it she is over dramatic with all that yelling and has been over exposed and way past played out this year
