I love the last 2 photos. It’s so natural the way Brad explaining to Angelina about the sport..after all, he was in the Fight Club, right? He knows the ins and out. They both look gorgeous. Leftists want Angelina Jolie’s help to save displaced farmers in RP

A militant farmers’ group on Friday urged the United Nations to send actress Angelina Jolie to the Philippines to witness the country’s rising number of internal refugees.

Willy Marbella, secretary-general of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), said the group on Friday sent a letter to António Guterres, chairman of the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR), requesting Jolie’s visit to the Philippines, particularly in provinces where thousands of farmers have been allegedly displaced because of military actions.

“We are asking the UN through chair of the UNHCR, Mr. António Guterres, since June 15, 2005 to look into this and send Angelina Jolie, a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, to see the real situation of internally displaced people in the country,” Marbella said in a statement.

He said hundreds of farmers are being displaced from their lands almost every month because of military actions. He said that as of October 31, a total of 7,542 farmers and poor Filipinos were forced to leave their homes and lands.

He said 3,000 of the internal refugees, or internally displaced people because of threat and conflict, in the country are farmers in Hacienda Reyes in Quezon province and Diatagon, LIanga, and Buhisan towns in Surigao del Sur province.

Hundreds of farmers from Sumilao, Bukidnon, were expected to arrive to Malacañang on Friday and meet with Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita. The Higaonon farmers were stripped of their right of ownership of parts of a 144-hectare property after its original owner, the Norberto Quisumbing Sr. Management Development Corp., sold it to San Miguel Foods Inc. in 2002.

Carl Ala, KMP spokesman, told abs-cbnNEWS.com that their group particularly requested for Jolie because of her global influence as a Hollywood superstar.

“Sa tingin namin magkakaroon ng massive effect sa international community kung siya ang makakita at magsasalita tungkol sa mga paglabag ng karapatan dito sa ating bansa (We believe that it will have a massive effect to the international community if Jolie will be the one to witness and talk about the rights abuses in the country),” Ala said in a phone interview.

The spokesman added that their group has witnessed the effect of Jolie’s intervention to prevent the genocide of hundreds of children and mothers in Darfur, Sudan.

I Was Wrong: I Realize Now That I Was Wrong
I’m always claiming that I’ll admit when I’m wrong, so here it is. Brad Pitt is the most beautiful man in the world, but not for the reasons that PEOPLE magazine gave him the title. Pitt appeared on Larry King Live on December 5th, 2007 to speak about his project “Making It Right” which supports rebuilding the 9th Ward in New Orleans. I (someone who was completely disgusted when Pitt left Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie) could not believe Brad Pitt’s depth.

To begin, he’s intelligent. He speaks articulately and enthusiastically about architecture, Ethiopia, domestic and international politics, and of course “Making It Right”. He’s humble, self-aware, and secure with himself and who he is (and I don’t mean physically). Pitt is also green. He explains that the new 9th Ward will be eco-friendly and that he is fascinated by the concept that within nature, we can exist without wasting. Pitt is also a vegetarian (OK- now I’m in love). And while these all contribute to his sex appeal, his respect for Angelina Jolie is the most beautiful and fascinating thing about him.

Several months ago, I wrote “the ego of an insecure man cannot sustain a good woman”. According to Maureen Dowd (she’s great by the way), Jane Fonda wrote that “men were attracted to her strong, independent spirit, but then tried to break it”. Clearly, Brad Pitt is not the kind of man Fonda and I describe. Now one might laugh and think that appreciating Angelina Jolie shouldn’t be that difficult. Though I’d bet my life, that if Angelina had an insecure partner, he would cheat. You don’t think so? Let’s recall Hugh Grant’s infamous indiscretion with a prostitute named Pancake. Not all that surprising. Pathetic men that cheat on women like Elizabeth Hurley cheat because it makes them feel better about being losers.

At any rate, I am beginning to think, that perhaps Pitt (who I accused of being an ******* for doing so) left Aniston because Aniston did not offer the intellectual stimulation that Jolie does (actually, I’m the jerk because clearly, pretty has NOTHING to do with it). Let me be clear, I am not dissing Aniston. I’m sure she’s a sweet girl, but perhaps Aniston doesn’t have the depth and drive that Jolie has. Aniston is preoccupied with acting goals not relieving global suffering. Clearly Pitt admires and respects Jolie’s work. Jolie, a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency, has an extensive curriculum vitae of humanitarian accomplishments. In fact, she has accomplished so much since she began humanitarian work in 2001, that listing some of those accomplishments and not others would be completely arbitrary. I will include however, that she has entered into some of the world’s most dangerous conflict zones to personally deliver aid, and notably, has always refused special accommodations.

Jolie is obviously a good woman, and Pitt knows it. That being said, when King asked Pitt about Jolie, Pitt responded “she is a woman of strong opinions and very specific beliefs and a great voice…. great intelligence… I respect it. She is a great leader as far as helping and changing… the world as we know it”. Pitt is not intimidated by her intelligence, drive, and sophistication- he admits- he respects it. There is nothing sexier than a man that appreciates a good woman.

First of all, Pitt is a breath of fresh air as far as I’m concerned. Clearly, he loves Jolie not because of what she has to offer him (the reason most men love women), but because of who she is. This illustrates Pitt’s depth and inner beauty. Second, Pitt completely debunks my theory- which was that aesthetically gorgeous men are emotionally and intellectually undeveloped. That’s it people. That’s all I really wanted to say. You were all right and I was wrong. The Brad Pitt bandwagon… not such a bad thing.

A Boxing match? It’s probably the game most reducing of human kind condition. It just reduces to what we are … animals.
While there so many people fighting against all types of violence in world (domestic, in countries where freedoms and rights are just a light in the dark, etc, or even against animals violence) I don’t get why there is a sport there is main imperative is violence. For what? MONEY? Violence for money.
I would have prefered to see Angie presence in a totally different type of sport. This is like a contradiction to all the works she has been doing as an UNHCR ambassador. Because lots of the refugees she fights for, run away from their countries because of the violence.

Well, I don’t really care to watch boxing or prize fighting either, but Brad obviously likes it, considering he has done so many movies with a fighting theme, Fight Club, of course, and Snatch, and even MAMS had a boxing scene in it. He’s also getting ready to do another fight movie called The Fighter…so Angie loves her man, and she shows interest in what he likes. She’s a good companion who supports him. That’s a good thing. Plus, if he gets all worked up after the fight, she can spar with him all over their hotel suite, and then help him discharge all that pent-up energy.

It’s win-win situation if you ask me.

Boxing is not my kind of sport either but many people like it. As you said Brad has done Snatch and Fight club which they had various boxing scenes and Brad will start shooting the Fighter in which he plays a former boxer by the end of next year so he must prepare himself and get in the atmosphere besides training.

I don’t understand why some people are complaining about that. You don’t like boxing fine. Nobody forced you to go to the game with the JPs. There is a simple solution to your problem. Get the hell out of here.

Jennifer really didn’t love Brad for a while I think he is so self-centered, loves to promote himself that has to be hard to be around after a while. Jennifer is loving her life she is private and no one on this board has a clue what she is up to. WHo knows one day she will just turn up married. Way more expensive than Beowulf, the 180 budget isn’t accurate and took in less than Beowulf on the opening weekend although this is still an estimate. Hopefully it will be better when the actuals come out on Monday.

The Golden compass should have made more than Beowulf in the domestic market since it caters to all ages, it has a GP rating, while Beowulf was rated PG 13. It also opened in more theaters, +3,500, while beowulf only 3,154. I think the controversy surrounding it didnt work like it did for Da vinci code.

But I think TGC, did better in the international market. And maybe it will do well overall in the long run. I saw it and it was rather slow and boring, but the images are spectacular.

Nicole’s last chance to establish her box office power will be her movie with buz lurhman, Australia. Since Russel Crowe was replaced by hugh jackman, Im not sure whether it will be successful. Hugh also had a recent flop, The Fountain. But I think his Wolverine will do well because it has a lot of X-Men followers.

Brad allowed Jen to file for the divorce because he was trying to be a gentleman and give her an out. She dragged her feet and delayed it for a few weeks through February and into March until he was crawling the walls. If she had waited any longer to file, he was going to do it himself. Just wanted to add something to the Nicole K discussion:
I really like her as an actress and think she’s a nice person. Considering the life she had led so far, I think she’s been graceful through it all.
I used to be fascinated by her, mostly after her divorce. Probably because I think she just appeared less “stepford” when she separated from Tom, but after a while she kind of just became sort of boring… I don’t know… maybe that’s just me.
As for The Golden Compass, well I have to agree with most of the ladies that it is an extreme double standard that they are calling it just her “flop” when Daniel Craig is prominently in it, like he was in Invasion too.
Besides, the story/concept coupled with the controversy, at least for me, just isn’t that interesting for this Holiday season.
I hope it all works out for everyone though, but obviously this is going to be another stain on NK’s BO record, which is just very unfortunate.

I think Angelina took boxing as a teenager. She said in one of her old interviews…

Angelina and Brad have so many in hobbies common—bike rides, love of flying (which she inspired in Brad), now boxing etc. etc. And more seriously, family and philantropy. Brad didn’t have much in common with his X. Not even a family. No wonder there was not much to hold that marriage together.

Question: If Jen is so happy, fulfilled, why are her fans so freaking sad? Why are they constantly on our threads going on and on about how happy she is? If she is happy not to have Brad’s child, I am just as ecstatic because that union would have produced Rumer Willis2 and thats a butt ugly child.

Army birthday parties, fighting asians and now boxing - way too many blood sports for humanitarians to still hide behind that title. The thought of two full grown men punching each other bloody, for money to boot, is disgusting.

.. Still wondering where the 10 million from the two investors is going. That is 66 houses at 150,000. How many are they building? And for sure it would not cost 10 million to prepare the site.

Try reading more and you’ll get your answers. The biggest costs in homebuilding are upfront costs - labor and materials. That money has to be paid out before any homeowners financial resources (mortgage money, available Katrina funds, etc) are available.

The project also anticipated environmental issues for that site and funds need to remain available. Part of the project’s goal is to reclaim polluted areas for residential use. Even if they can get the polluting companies or the feds to help with clean up costs, there are initial costs to even discovering environmental problems and raising the issue.

It’s an excellent project and it seems to have covered most bases - environmentally sound homes, homeowner friendly and requested designs and features, funding that allows for the best use of available Katrina funds and low cost financing before tapping into the project’s funds - thus allowing for pride of ownership and preservation of project funds to extend the project to more homes.

Observer2, I’m not doubting you just wondering where you learned this. It makes sense to me. Men traditionally and statistically allow the wives to file the divorce pleadings. Who actually files rarely has anything to do with who wants the divorce or who wants it more.

Divorces with the kind of assets the Pitts had take time to prepare the pleadings and arrange for the court filing. I am sure the preparation for it began soon after the separation was announced in January.

I just saw Reporter Guy’s post at 2:52. Okay, I understand. I won’t ask. I don’t want to get some paralegal fired.

I do not ever go to JA threads, people like her who give nothing back to those with less I view with great distain and dislike. Jen Aniston is nothing but a parasite.

Those to whom much is given should reach out and help those to whom little is given. Anyone sitting on an estimated $110 million with no family of their own, no children, no contact with their own family, has an obligation to get off their butts and do something positive in their lives. J Aniston does one commercial for St. Judes. How about sponsoring families whose kids are undergoing treament at St. Jude’s?

And don’t give me a lie that she does, it would be known and reported if she did because people like to thank those who help them. Jen contributed zero, zilch, nada !!!!
