Brad & Angelina’s Boxing Showdown
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie hop into a limo together with fellow Hollywood couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale late Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The two loved-up couples had just watched the flashy welterweight Mayweather-Hatton boxing match, where American Floyd Mayweather knocked British-born Ricky Hatton out in the 10th round.
“A true champion can adapt to anything,” Mayweather said. “I knew it’d be tough, that he’d try to bust me up. “He walked right into it and never saw it coming. He walked right into the shot.”
Of note: Brad Pitt turns 44 next Tuesday, Dec .18.

You mean to tell me you dugg up the ratings to prove a point. what is the point exactly>\? what is it that Brad is not loved, that no one cares when he appeared on the show? I don’t get it. I know you watched it to complaint so much of his appearance. If you and x are so over him why the research. Does he owe you money or something? where you get the numbers by the way?

I’m always claiming that I’ll admit when I’m wrong, so here it is. Brad Pitt is the most beautiful man in the world, but not for the reasons that PEOPLE magazine gave him the title. Pitt appeared on Larry King Live on December 5th, 2007 to speak about his project “Making It Right” which supports rebuilding the 9th Ward in New Orleans. I (someone who was completely disgusted when Pitt left Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie) could not believe Brad Pitt’s depth.
To begin, he’s intelligent. He speaks articulately and enthusiastically about architecture, Ethiopia, domestic and international politics, and of course “Making It Right”. He’s humble, self-aware, and secure with himself and who he is (and I don’t mean physically). Pitt is also green. He explains that the new 9th Ward will be eco-friendly and that he is fascinated by the concept that within nature, we can exist without wasting. Pitt is also a vegetarian (OK- now I’m in love). And while these all contribute to his sex appeal, his respect for Angelina Jolie is the most beautiful and fascinating thing about him.
Several months ago, I wrote “the ego of an insecure man cannot sustain a good woman”. According to Maureen Dowd (she’s great by the way), Jane Fonda wrote that “men were attracted to her strong, independent spirit, but then tried to break it”. Clearly, Brad Pitt is not the kind of man Fonda and I describe. Now one might laugh and think that appreciating Angelina Jolie shouldn’t be that difficult. Though I’d bet my life, that if Angelina had an insecure partner, he would cheat. You don’t think so? Let’s recall Hugh Grant’s infamous indiscretion with a prostitute named Pancake. Not all that surprising. Pathetic men that cheat on women like Elizabeth Hurley cheat because it makes them feel better about being losers.
At any rate, I am beginning to think, that perhaps Pitt (who I accused of being an ******* for doing so) left Aniston because Aniston did not offer the intellectual stimulation that Jolie does (actually, I’m the jerk because clearly, pretty has NOTHING to do with it). Let me be clear, I am not dissing Aniston. I’m sure she’s a sweet girl, but perhaps Aniston doesn’t have the depth and drive that Jolie has. Aniston is preoccupied with acting goals not relieving global suffering. Clearly Pitt admires and respects Jolie’s work. Jolie, a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency, has an extensive curriculum vitae of humanitarian accomplishments. In fact, she has accomplished so much since she began humanitarian work in 2001, that listing some of those accomplishments and not others would be completely arbitrary. I will include however, that she has entered into some of the world’s most dangerous conflict zones to personally deliver aid, and notably, has always refused special accommodations.
Jolie is obviously a good woman, and Pitt knows it. That being said, when King asked Pitt about Jolie, Pitt responded “she is a woman of strong opinions and very specific beliefs and a great voice…. great intelligence… I respect it. She is a great leader as far as helping and changing… the world as we know it”. Pitt is not intimidated by her intelligence, drive, and sophistication- he admits- he respects it. There is nothing sexier than a man that appreciates a good woman.
First of all, Pitt is a breath of fresh air as far as I’m concerned. Clearly, he loves Jolie not because of what she has to offer him (the reason most men love women), but because of who she is. This illustrates Pitt’s depth and inner beauty. Second, Pitt completely debunks my theory- which was that aesthetically gorgeous men are emotionally and intellectually undeveloped. That’s it people. That’s all I really wanted to say. You were all right and I was wrong. The Brad Pitt bandwagon… not such a bad thing.

Your writing is excellent, and I commend you for admitting you were wrong. It’s a rare thing, not too many people do it these days. Too many are self-absorbed and ready to blame others. That’s a shame, because acknowledging your wrong, and understanding why - as well as so eloquently writing about it, will ultimately lead to growth. Who wouldn’t want that?
That said, perhaps one day soon, you can also write about your knee-jerk reaction and willingness to take sides and ‘choose teams,’ to begin with - among three people whom you did not know. This has always fascinated me why people (mostly women) had (and some still have) that reaction.
I used to always put it down to envy. Aniston was theultimately relatable TV star, in homes every week. We looked at her hair, her outfits and her face, and realized - hell, if I got a $800 haircut and a cute pair of boots, I KNOW I’d look just as cute or BETTER. We liked that about ‘Jen.’
Angelina Jolie, not so much. She’s young, arrestingly and classically beautiful, accomplished, and compassionate. When we admire, we want to emulate. Frankly that scares a lot of women of a certain age. Plus, how in hell do you emulate Jolie?? Aniston? Sure, just go out and get a layer cut. Jolie?? Adopt two children from third world nations, win an Oscar, and give away 1/3rd of our incomes…and on the side, part-time, act as the ‘unofficial ‘Most Beautiful Woman,’ in the world!
LOL - most women find a ‘haven’ in safe ‘Jen,’ she’s average looking, she’s of an average talent - and we use her as a ‘guide,’ for hair and fashion. She’s tailored made to ‘celebrity,’ in that there is no real investment, because you imagine ‘Jen,’ doesn’t ask for anything from except to watch her show and buy her magazines.
When one admires Angelina Jolie, what she stands for and who she is — as Brad pitt has realized, you are inspired to be a better person, and often in many ways small and big, you ARE a better person.
This isn’t to make Angelina into some kind of deity mind you, LOL - I’m only talking of the symbolic, and why some women did have this ‘knee jerk,’ reaction. Look within, and that always tells you everything you need to know.

Also, love that Gwen and Gavin ‘doubled,’ with the JPs. It’s funny the Beckham’s have the Cruises (yawn) and the Rossdales have the Jolie-Pitts…the latter is soooo much cooler. LOL :-) Both Gavin and Gwen look like they are THRILLED to be out and about with Brangie!! Gavin, particularly looks over the moon. I bet they all had a blast.
Brad looks frisky to me. I bet when he gets a few drinks in him, look OUT! He probably chases Angie around furniture….heh-heh, and then she lets him catch her! ;-)
…also, I think it’s hilarious how CNN and Larry King cannot STOP plugging ‘Brad Pitt,’ and the interview is almost a week old. I was just watching, and they had a big FONTED BOLDED Larry King headline promo — calling it, ‘MORE BRAD PITT!’ Tuesday!! ..and talking about “Brad as you’ve never seen him before!!” or, “A side of Brad you haven’t seen!! LOL!! No doubt Brad was a SERIOUS moneymaker for them. Is this a tease - or do you think they were holding back on us, and that there are some things we hadn’t seen. Either way, I’ll be there (or here) with bells on!! :-D

It was very persective of you to imagine what might have happend. I agree with you it may be the way they came together. But who really knows expect those two. I am just glad they did.

They are pushing Brad because no one watched and they are trying to get the people to view more. Very embarassing for the station. They thought that they would get excellent rating and the ratings were very poor. Look at Thursdays numbers. Brad’s encore had the lowest numbers that Larry King has had in years. Really embarassing! Even Donny and Marie encore had over 200,000 more viewers than Brad’s encore. Clinquia you really should look at the numbers instead of lying about things.
Also the Cruises and the Beckhams are alot more interesting than these two. Be honest Gwen looked like a 10 year old with her hair last night. The Pitts really need to up grade their friendships. I realize that they don’t have many friends and they are desperate but - really - Gwen?

But now they just look like any other couple who is married. They didn’t even hold hands leaving the building. Angie hung on to Brad but I don’t even see him touching her - noticed that recently she is quite clingly and he kind of ignores her. I am sure they will be together forever so don’t let it worry you. They nned publicity for the Oscars why else go to a place filled with cameras. They can’t get the paps to take their pictures anymore in LA so they go to places where they know they will be seen. This chemistry is all in your heads. BUt if that helps you guys cope with ordinary life - so be it. Anyway I would forgo the Christmas presents this year and give to Brad’s cause. ANd remember to watch Larry King because no one else is!
