Celebrity Boxing Match — Round One!
Sun, 09 December 2007 at 5:13 pm
The A-listers came out in droves for the early Sunday morning for the WBC welterweight title fight between Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie looked quite cuddly as they drew plenty of attention. Denzel Washington cheered frantically from his seat. David Beckham looked like he was getting down with Kid Rock. Gwen Stefani and rocker husband Gavin Rossdale looked really into the fight.

Why is it Angelina’s fans can’t believe that a few people might not see her as especially wonderful. I still think she is a good actress, but the woman is kind of harsh in affairs of the heart.
Yes I think she will get nominated for Oscar, Globes,SAG,BAFTA,NY CRITICS Society…

I just read this over at USA Today. George C. just so much credit for doing nothing. Angie has gone to Darfur/Sudan & Chad several times. And yet it is hardly mentioned in the press. GC goes and he becomes the saviour of the country. There are som comments from readers included that I thought were funny. Peace
George Clooney’s star power illuminates Darfur

Globe-trotter: George Clooney attends a screening of Michael Clayton at the Dubai International Film Festival.
.us Newsvine Reddit FacebookWhat’s this?By William Keck, USA TODAY
In January, George Clooney will make his second trip to Darfur in hopes of bringing back video footage of the land ravaged by famine, disease and warfare. He’s globetrotting, appearing over the weekend at the Dubai Film Festival and being honored this week (with Don Cheadle) by the Nobel Peace Laureates in Rome. But not even a root canal could stop the Oscar winner, 46, from calling in with an update on his commitment to the troubled locale.
MORE: Darfur benefit party brings celebs out in force
Q: First, how did your dental appointment fare?
A: Here’s the funny part. I got a redo of a root canal, and I thought, “Well, that’s bad.” And then (the dentist) goes, “Let’s go to work on this other tooth.” I was going to get an implant, and all of a sudden he’s in with a hammer and I lost a tooth, so I’ve got a hole in the side of my head. It’s really fun. It’s not just pain, it’s got a pulse.
Q: But you’ll be well enough by January to make your second trip to Darfur. What’s the plan?
A: I’m not a politician, so the reason I go is to (focus) attention there. So we’re going to try to get deeper into Darfur; try to get some cameras in to the tougher camps and have conversations. That’s basically all I can do. If you put famous people in front of very ugly sites, people will watch.
Q: I’m amazed you’re even allowed in.
A: If you’re the head of a country who is denying that all these things are happening, then you might welcome me in to say, “Show me all these bad things.”
FIND MORE STORIES IN: Christmas | Dubai | Brad Pitt | Oscar winner | George Clooney | Joseph Biden | Film festival | Muslim countries | Don Cheadle
Q: Is there one familiar face from your last trip whom you’re hoping to see again?
A: There was a little girl in a tiny camp in south Sudan who was holding my hand while I was throwing up from eating bad goat who didn’t look like she was going to last a year and a half. It would be nice if I saw her doing well.
Q: What has been accomplished since you and your father (Nick) spoke about Darfur on the National Mall in April 2006?
A: You want the truth? Absolutely nothing. People can march and pat each other on the back, and concerts will happen, and the simple truth is there’s still the exact same issues going on.
Q: Whom have you met with among the presidential candidates to discuss Darfur?
A: Barack (Obama) and I are very good friends, and we’ve spoken at length. I’ve also spoken to Joe Biden, but it’s an easy subject for all of them to be behind. No one’s for genocide. No one’s for people being killed because of their race or religion.
Q: If the U.S. government were to ask you to take on a more official role, would you?
A: Sure, (but) our government really isn’t in a position to fix things. What we need, and where I’m working the hardest, is to try to get more involvement from other Arab/Muslim countries.
Q: Have you been following your pal Brad Pitt’s crusade in New Orleans?
A: It’s a life choice for him and a big part of his life. Matt (Damon) does that, too. Don (Cheadle). A lot of the guys who are good friends of mine spend a good portion of their life doing this. In some ways, it’s easier for us because we have some financial security, so we can say, “OK, let’s stop worrying about ourselves and look out for other people.” What should you do with all this kind of attention? Should you get out of a car without wearing underwear … ?
Q: No, George. Please. Never.
A: You’ve never seen me. I look fantastic.
Q: How will you be spending the holidays?
A: I don’t do a big Christmas thing. I think Christmas at some point is for having a bunch of kids, so I just get through the holidays. I have a lot of work to do.
Q: Has being so involved with the heartache in Darfur affected your own level of joy?
A: It certainly reminds you to be ridiculously happy with your life. Once you see people suffering in the way these people are suffering, you feel very guilty about not suffering at all.
Q: Except for your root canal.
A: Yeah, I got to go to a dentist. You realize how of little importance the things that trouble you are.

I wish more Hollywood stars would follow Brad Pitt’s lead and help Americans first (New Orleans is still not rebuilt, 1000s of families are still displaced and without jobs, and surprise surprise, neocon fascist Dumbya Bush doesn’t give a d**n about any of it) before thinking they can save the rest of the world.

Hopefully George will spend HIS money in trying to resolve this crisis not the taxpayers. Clooney, Bono and a large part of the Celebrity group would like to spend taxpayer monies but when it comes to them making a contribution that would make them feel the pain they are noteably absent.

I don’t think there’s anyone in the world who is liked by everybody, and you are entitled to your opinion, but expressing that opinion in a thread in which YOU KNOW the overwhelming majority of posters are AJ’s fans, is inviting an argument.
You really can’t say AJ is harsh in affairs of the heart, because you don’t know the whole story. As an outsider you’re only speculating.
BP leaving his previous relationship doesn’t make AJ a homewrecker. What does it take to get through to people like you!
My opinion, to which I’m entitled, is that BP’s marriage had run its course (it was coming to an end, it was petering out because they didn’t have much or anything in common and no kids), and his meeting AJ made him realize he had to make a choice. Can you sense the difference?
BP is surrounded by beautiful women, many of whom, I guess, throw themselves at him. Nothing happened, until AJ came along. They clicked. Like other posters have said, you don’t control when ‘it’ hits you. ‘It’ apparently hit BP hard and he had to decide to follow his heart or go on living a lie.
He is a normal guy. He followed his heart. I guess you want him to go on living a lie!
I’m not saying AJ is perfect. She is imperfect, like all of us, but I like the imperfect AJ very much.
Can you haters and antis please stop referring to the past because it’s so boring.
I agree, she’s a good actress and I hope she wins more awards to add to those she already has.
God, keep blessing and watching over the Jolie-Pitt family.

Thank you for the list. I think It’s between Julie Christie and Marion Cotillard fighting for Oscar BA. though, Julie Christie had a bigger chance. But still hoping Angie will end up in the final list of nominee in Oscar. being nominated in Oscar was already a recognition and a winner.
Go Angie!

DO ANY OF YOU BOTHER TO LOOK AT THE CURRENT STORIES OR DO YOU GO DIRECTLY TO THE OLD BRAD STORY. DID YOU SEE BECKHEM IN THE UNDERWEAR FOTO? BRAD WISHES HE STILL LOOKED LIKE THAT SPECIALLY THE ABS! TO DIE FOR! YOUR BOY’S ALL WASHED UP COMPARED TO HIM. HOW LONG DID BRAD HAVE TO SHAPE UP TO DO TROY? AND HOW MNY YEARS AGO WAS THAT?
++++++++++++++++++
Yeah, I saw Becks in his stuff undies. Apparently you missed the reason why Becks is famous - HE’S A PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE, MORON! HE’S PAID TO BE IN SHAPE!
And dudette…what’s the point in having abs like that if everytime he opens his mouth and speaks everybody in a 20 block radius has to put in earplugs? Seriously…his voice sounds like Mike Tyson on helium.
BTW - “Thelma & Louise” Brad, “Fight Club” Brad and “Troy” Brad would mop the floor with Becks’ abs.
new lainey blind riddle:
Holiday Detox
Some stars you look at with blinders on. She is for me one of those stars. But the glassy eyes are hard to excuse. And the thinnification too. Thinnification to get back to work and in her case assisted by good old cocaine which she apparently did in copious amounts on sets through summer and fall to stay alert and focused and un-hungry. Which is apparently always something she’s dabbled in, only before she was able to actually stop between gigs.
This time however, even though she’s wrapped, she’s taken to taking it home, wreaking havoc in her family life and bringing on serious bouts of depression. After a particularly painful episode with a very young, very innocent witness, she finally went for help. The good news is she knows she needs to stop. And she has a supportive partner behind her. Word is, to avoid public scandal, she’s fighting the beast at home during the holidays under professional supervision.
Wonderful news indeed.

The Fighter is supposed to begin filming in Fall of 2008, all things being equal and the SAG strike is resolved by then.
Mark gave an interview, where he said that he and Brad were planning on doing a lot of their training together. And the trainer that trained Brad for Troy, is training him for The Fighter, according to the trainer.
++++++++++++++
Is anyone else getting a perverse chuckle out of the fact that Brad is going to work with Marky Mark…and SWSRN worked with Marky Mark on the totally wretched “Rock Star”…a flick on which Defamer claims X let her lezbo out to play with Marky Mark’s cousin-***-assitant (pun intended)…or maybe that’s just me laughing….

juju, i must say i was as surprised as you when the student confirmed that was the movie he was working in.i asked him several times if he was sure, and he said yes. the only conclusion i could come to. is that these are just small parts. there is a boxing gym a few blocks from where i work, and apparently thats where they are filming. i will keep you informed if i hear anything else. he has promised to bring me something to verify this info. i cannot say anything more at this time.
++++++++++++++++++
That’s interesting because Marky Mark said they were going to film it in the real boxer’s neighborhood in Boston at the gym he really trained at.

Why is it Aniston’s fans can’t accept the fact that the demissed ” Golden couple” was not that golden, that merger was created by their Publicist, well played by both actors, and helped up by the media.
Why is it Aniston’s fans can’t accept the reality that Brad and his X marriage was just like 50 % of American marriage & 80% HW marriage that just didn’t work ?
Why is it Maniston’s fans can’t believe that a few people might not see her as especially wonderful. innocent victim of her divorce? she was also responsible for half of the divorce . not just 2 % as she said it in VF .
Why is it Maniston’s fans can’t believe that No man will walk out on a solid, happy marriage ?

“I feel honored to know him and his family. When I get around him I feel inspired. We push each other and we need that. We share that same level of reality and commitment that we have to our craft and to our family. Its fun.”
The above quote is apparently from Tom Cruise on the Will-and-Tom thread on JJ. It kinda creeped me out….it sounds like they are a couple…….sounds like something you’d hear Angie say about Brad or vice-versa, for example.
++++++++++++++++++
You have heard the rumors about Will and the door that swings both ways, haven’t you? Plus, he and Jada have an open marriage and they’ve said as much. Make of that what you will.
# 920 CMAR @ 12/10/2007 at 8:04 pm
BTW, CMAR - I like Will, too. I like that at his level of fame he can still make fun of himself and be goofy and NOT worry about how his public image to the point of becoming a control freak. There was a 60 Minutes on him a few weeks ago and you can see that underneath it all, he’s still that same smart-mouthed, fast-talking homey that came out of Philly almost 20 years ago. How Scarry is that? Will Smith has been around for 20+ years!

she would not be underweight and depressed if she’s happy with Brad Pitt.
