The Golden Globe nominations will be announced tomorrow, but the day may not be merry for the nominees and big studios.
One of the repercussions of the Hollywood writers strike is that the Golden Globes in January may be cancelled, delayed or go ahead without any star support.
This will hurt the big studios’ chances of capitalizing off the Globes noms and wins for box office appeal and to lure Oscar voters.
If the Golden Globes do go on as planned, the Writers Guild of America will likely picket the show.
Screen Actors Guild members will not cross the picket line if they’re nominated. The unions stand in solidarity, and SAG is likely to go on strike for the same reasons (DVD residuals and internet rights) this coming June.
There’s a possibility the WGA will not picket the Globes and grant them a waiver, allowing their writers to work on the show, but that seems unlikely, according to industry insiders.
If the writers want to give a “**** you” to the big media companies that are being difficult to bargain with - negotiations are at a standstill - then they will boycott the Golden Globes and the Oscars.

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron has become the latest Hollywood celebrity to suffer a burglary following a break-in at the South African star’s home last week, police confirmed Monday.
The 32-year-old’s house, reportedly in the exclusive Hollywood Hills, was broken into between Thursday and Saturday, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles police department said. No further information was made available.
Theron won an Academy Award in 2004 for her portrayal of a serial killer in “Monster” and earned another Oscar nod for “North Country” in 2006.
Some of Los Angeles’ most famous residents have been targeted by professional burglars this year, with police revealing in July that more than seven million dollars of loot had been stolen in a string of raids.
Police and city authorities said the same gang of thieves was believed to be responsible for as many as 50 robberies carried out in upmarket neighborhoods such as Bel Air and Beverly Hills.
Celebrities whose homes have reportedly been raided include country music stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as well as former Paramount Pictures chief Sherry Lansing and her Oscar-winning director husband Billy Friedkin.
Other victims included Duran Duran guitarist John Taylor and Los Angeles Clippers basketball player Cuttino Mobley, who had around 500,000 dollars in cash and jewelry stolen from his Bel Air mansion.

Oh my God! Janice Min is BIPOLAR and I’m truly not trying to be funny because I understand this is a serious disease. I just hope she seeks help soon before it gets worse. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the poor dear (can you imagine what life must be like for her family? Shaking my head at the thought)
