Kill Bill actress Uma Thurman gets the cover of Harper Bazaar’s January 2008 issue. She talks about life as an actress, ex-husbands, turning 40 (almost) and new relationships.
Below are some excerpts:
On life and turning 40: “‘Watch out, you might not have a career in your 20s’, so you scoot along and have some dark, down years. Suddenly, you get a career back and it’s ‘Watch out, in your 30s it’s going to be over.’ And God forbid you have a child. I remember telling an agent I was going to have a baby, and he said, ‘Oh, that’s great for you, but don’t even think about the business.’ Just so blatant! No one’s brought up the 40 thing with me lately, but I’m sure the prognosis is going to be doom and gloom. But no decade has been disastrous, and I’ve gotten away with murder anyway.”
On her numerous ex-husbands: “Look, my aim is true. I wish everybody no ill. I don’t really participate in any mudslinging or such. I like people to see their lives blossom and not go poorly for them.”
On being an actress:“You know, I think actresses are imagined to be these subjects of great vanity. Life is change; physicality changes. It’s transient, and that’s a beautiful and a painful thing. When I look into the mirror, I think, What have I really done? Not much, if you really want to know. What do I need to do to do more?”
On being blessed with one of the most extraordinary bodies in contemporary cinema:”You mean I slouch and I eat a lot?This is what happens when you quit smoking.”

She quit smoking? Congrats to her! I’m sure she didn’t like being famous for that famous scene in Pulp Ficton with the cigarette.

Gorgeous photoshopping. There is a huge difference between that pic and her candids. Because she is actually almost ugly.
I really like Uma. I find some actresses high overrated
I still can’t get over the fact that she was married to Gary Oldman.
I wonder what would what it would be like if they were still together.

Oldman said about the divorce that he “couldn’t stand being married to an angel” (?)
and Uma is just gorgeous, whether she’s photoshopped, botoxed or anything - she has just the most amazing features and i love that she’s one of the few succesfull actresses who are really, really tall.

My friend saw her in a fitness center/gym somewhere in LA-land.
I thought that was cool - because she could afford a personal trainer!

I love her courage in getting pregnancy and having babies while her career was still hot in her thirties, and despite warning by her agent. unlike some other actress tend to delay motherhood till their career was over and found out that getting pregnancy was not that easy anymore , like Jlo and Halle have to resort on IVF. which was not a very comfortable treatment.
She is just 37, but start worrying about 40 ? but can’t blame her , that’s how cruel is HW to women reaching that age.
and yet jen aniston is the only one aging
she “looks great” because the photo is shopped all to hell. Take a look at her candids on this site. She looks horrible. She’s a huge smoker so that probably doesn’t help.
Photoshop is a Godsend to these naturally ugly actors and models…

I met Uma whilst studying at Columbia University, she used to come to the parties with galaxy craze who used to study there and was a good friend of hers. This was in 1992, she was special already but so easy to talk to. She came to my flat once with Galaxy and they flooded the bathroom, I will never forget that day, I wished she got in touch with me but so much time has passed. This info. is all true. I hope her a happy motherhood and i know she will leave all this hollywood and start to get into some personal development, she is lovely.
