When Angelina Jolie was a guest @ Charlie Rose, she was articulate about her role as Marianne Pearl in the critically acclaimed AMH. Even then, she was being buzzed for an Oscar Nomination. There is no question that she can act.
.
Golden Globe is a start. Congratulations !
Good morning, BAMPZS fans!
Hi there, Yes, sweetie, saw your shout-out, but was just so busy could only lurk, couldn’t post (also, am still having a hard time with my laptop!) Anyway, hugs and kisses!
WOOOOWEEEE! Angelina got nominated at the GG! Did most fans call it or did most fans call it right! But of course, the naysayers and fanistons have to rain on our parade and try to dis the nomination. Oh well, who cares about them?
Too bad Brad wasn’t nominated, but he did get a nom last year, so this year it was Angelina’s turn. Am not too thrilled about George Clooney’s nom, but have to accept the good with the bad.
Hope the GGs would be given the waiver to broadcast, like the SAGs.
Look Helena,
Julie was wonderful in Away From Her, but so was Angie. Oscar will be Julie or Angie, although Marion was quite wonderful as well. I think Julie is going to win because of her age. If you really, objectively saw Angie’s performance in AMH, you will also see the beauty in her performance. I don’t know you, but you seemed to have your personal feelings against Angie cloud your judgment of her acting.

VERY US WEEKLY

Hey she is already a winner by being nominated.and also a winner because of Brad and children on having a lovely family.

To be fair, Michael Clayton was well-reviewed.
But Why Did I Get Married? did kick Michael Clayton’s @$$ the opening weekend, doing twice the business in 1000+ less theaters.

IA. I have nothing against GC but for me he hasn’t shown me that he can leave GC at the door and become the character. I always see GC on screen.
#103: If they knew Brad so well, how come they’re surprised, no make that shocked that he chucked his ball and chain for Angie? If they can tell what he’s like, how come they didn’t think he was going to stay with Angie up to this time? Didn’t they keep predicting the end of this so called fling three years ago?
Please, you know Brad like you do you your own man which is also bull since you don’t have a man.
He’s never once tried outshadowing Angie. Not one time because he steps back and gives her the stage. Do you see the pride in his face when he escorts her anywhere or do you just disregard his actions cause it pains you? He won’t stand in her way and every award she gets, especially for AMH is a tribute to his foresight in casting her. He could have appeared in the same movie if he wanted to since it’s his production. Who can say no to him in that instance?
Angie likewise has toned down her looks and her demeanor for Brad. If you’ve ever read the Gift of the Magi, you would know what these two are about. For them, love trumps everything. This is not a Star is Born. They’ll both bow out of the limelight before that happens. So please, if you think that’s what’ gonna split them up, you’d better not bet on it. You’ll lose just like with every bet you trolls have been making for the last three years. Better stick to delusions. You’re no good at analysis or predictions.
Geez, he doesn’t even dress in his golden boy garb anymore. He dresses in jeans and t-shirts with his ugly hat most of the time. Is that the guy who’s vanity far outweighs his pride in his woman?
I think this deserves to be reposted:
“blinded by hatred? blinded by misguided adoration? what’s the difference? It seems that very few people who contribute to these blogs are able to speak about any of this with any objectivity.”
It seems to go both ways.
#155 yeah!same oh ,same oh,
LOL about you calling someone hater if she or he don’t like Angie’s work in that movie; it’s only opinion nothing to do with hate..
Man tita, you seem to take this crap really personally.
But Why Did I Get Married? did kick Michael Clayton’s @$$ the opening weekend, doing twice the business in 1000+ less theaters.

Why do people always bring in BO. Who cares? Some of the best movies of the year didn’t do well in the BO. Sadly, no one’s interested in them, they go for crappy Why Did I Get Married? or Chuck and Larry instead
Hmmm, George Clooney got nominated? For a not really outstanding performance?
Gee, Brad, maybe you should take lessons from GC on as*-kissing so that you could be nominated too. George is so wonderful at doing politics, he gets a freakin’ peace award for going to Darfur once, whereas Angelina goes to more dangerous places and she gets accused of fame-wh*ring. Sheesh, maybe both Brad and Angie should hire Clooney’s publicist.
complete list

I did have some on the list…..
Angelina Jolie- (she deserves it she was great in AMH)
Cate Blanchette- (they love her and she’s exquisitely talented)
Casey Affleck- (he was wonderful in A.Jesse James)
(I still think Brad should have gotten a nomination, he was quite amazing in the role)Maybe next year for something.
Amy Adams- Enchanted(She was wonderful)
Denzel- A. Gangster(phenomenal)they love him too.
It was good to see John Hamm from MAD MEN nominated, that is one of the best shows on TV.
Also Congrats to David Duchoveny for Californication, it’s a really good show, he is great in it.
Sorry Josh Brolin wasn’t nominated, but he’s just geting on the radar, he’s quite a good actor. Maybe for SAG Awards, we’ll see Brad, Josh Brolin,Crowe all put in good performances.
Crowe was phenomenol in 3:10 to Yuma, should get nominated somewhere, SAG maybe.
Brad on Fox News Channel in a few minutes
Brad was nominated Best Actor by the London Film Critics. Much less Hollywood political than the Golden Globes. I bet he wins. Don’t know when the awards are given out but I bet Brad and Angie will attend.
HEY, us ‘deluded’ people had faith that she would be nominated for a Golden Globe award and SHE was. So, I guess our ‘delusions’ are not so delusional after all, eh?
—
Noticed I said the word ‘win’ and I’m not talking about her nomination. It was obvious she’d get nominated because of the weak year. I mean Foster and Blanchett got in as well and their films got mixed reviews.
++++++++++++++++++
Helena thats pathetic, what weak year are you talking about?? We all know she didnt have the best year but that’s rediculous if you think she’s be nominated cos of that. She’s the best end of. Dont find yourself and _________ an explaination for her nod. You and your idol are losers forever! Deal with it!!!
158 the real tita:what these people don’t know Brad and Angie are a team a family.they are for one another.

The one thing that this year has shown is that no one is a lock. Julie Christie, Marion C., Ellen Page and yes, even Angelina have been given awards for their performances by different organizations.
And some people may not have a clue who Julie Christie is because of the person’s age vs. Christie’s age. She hasn’t been working alot in recent years and she was huge in the years she was with Warren Beatty. I happen to think she was outstanding in Away From Her. I also think that Marion C. was outstanding in La Vie En Rose and that Angelina was outstanding in AMH. Cate did a fine job in Elizabeth, but, the movie wasn’t as well reviewed or received as the first. I haven’t seen The Brave One, so I can’t comment. But, Jodie’s terrific in everything. So, I’m sure was in The Brave One.
Amy Ryan’s reaction to her GG nomination.
“I’m going to work at 8 a.m. with Mr. Clint Eastwood and Angelina Jolie, so maybe Angelina and I will have a holler and a hoot together.” Amy Ryan, nominated for supporting actress for “Gone Baby Gone.” She is now working on Eastwood’s “The Changeling.” Jolie was nominated in the dramatic actress category for “A Mighty Heart.”
Awww..Amy and Angelina can celebrate together.
Also as I mentioned before Angelina has been quietly filming away without having to deal with the stalkerazzi on set.
I remember reading from a column of Ruben Napales, who watched AMH at Cannes, to quote him ( from Philippine Daily Inquirer dated 5/25/07:
“…After the last of the closing credits rolled & the lights went back on, a packed audience gave a standing ovation to Angelina…& the key talents of the film. Angelina might have had a very strong shot at being Cannes Best Actress but since the film is entered out of competition, she is not eligible.”
Majority of the critics really praised her performance.
To quote a Washington Post staff writer named Ann Hornaday:
“…Jolie is a star of such super-stratospheric proportions that the chances of her disappearing into a character role would seem slim at best. But it turns out that she is the perfect choice to play Mariane, not only because she delivers a restrained, understated performance but because her persona as a citizen of the world — as a U.N. representative, activist and mother — so seamlessly meshes with the global consciousness that the Pearls represent. She blends just as seamlessly with “A Mighty Heart’s” fine ensemble of supporting actors, including Panjabi and Will Patton as U.S. consul Randall Bennett.(Mariane’s quietly appalled gaze as Bennett extols the virtues of Pakistan’s notorious interrogation methods is a moment of physical eloquence typical of Jolie’s astute, vanity-free performance.)
Other reviews:
“..The most flattering thing to say about Jolie’s performance is that for the most part, you forget that it’s her. She underplays her megawatt charisma and channels it into a measured performance. She’s mesmerising as she plays Mariane with a dignified calm, even in the face of potentially overwhelming tragedy. Her accent is excellent, replete with mispronunciations and stumbling.”–Zane Henry (11/2/07)
“Jolie blends in beautifully with a large cast. She sports a tricky accent worthy of Meryl Streep, but this is not even remotely a showy role. But few will forget her anguished cry of pain when the terrible truth that Daniel had been beheaded was broadcast over the Internet to the entire world. Beautifully, that same cry of pain is echoed a few minutes later, when Mariane is seen giving birth.
- Michael Giltz ,The Avvocate.com - May 22,2007
“Dramatically, it contains the most impressive performance of Angelina Jolie’s career. she is electric in the part.”
-James Christopher, The Times OnLine – May 24,2007
“Pitt’s partner Angelina Jolie won rave reviews for “A Mighty Heart”, in which she plays the widow of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was decapitated by Islamic extremists in Pakistan in 2002.”
– Deborah Cole, AFP About France 24-27/05/07
“Jolie’s portrayal of Pearl — who was six months pregnant when her husband was abducted — has been the subject of some controversy due to some mild cosmetic elements — her hair is curlier, her skin slightly darkened to convey the real Mariane Pearl’s Cuban-French heritage — but there’s nothing insensitive or overdone in the mild make-up artistry of the part; the inner performance is what shines out.
- James Rocchi,Cannes Review: A Mighty Heart - May 22nd 2007
“Jolie has a powerful scene in which she lets out a shriek of grief that will be recognized wherever people suffer from terror and loss.”
- By Ray Bennett ,The Hollywood Reporter - May 22, 2007
“Angelina Jolie’s portrayal of Mariane Pearl was very impressive.
I was moved by her performance an incredibly tear jerking and striking moment was Mariane’s reaction in the scene where she received the fateful news. Jolie’s characterization was so powerful and resonant it continued to linger in my mind long after the film’s end.”
- by: Jenny Karakaya, Joblo.com –
“In easily her finest performance, Jolie the pop-culture figure loses herself inside the role of Pearl.”
- Dave Mcoy,MSN Movies
“As Marianne,Angelina Jolie renders an admirably understated,Oscar-calibre performance.”
“she lets one of the most anguished shrieks you’re like to hear this year in American film.”
-EMANUEL LEVY- Film Review
“If Angelina Jolie doesn’t win an award for her portrayal of Mariane Pearl in “A Mighty Heat,” I will be shocked.
The movie was emotionally draining, especially the part where she is told about Daniel’s death. Jolie’s reaction had many in tears and is probably the best performance of her career.”
- SANDY TOMCHO , Times Herald Record -June 1,2007
“Angelina is fantastic as Mariane Pearl, transforming not just her physical appearance but her entire persona.”
-LEXI FEINBERG, Cinema Blend Review June 2,2007
#140: So, if it goes to Julie Christie, then it should go to her. After all, how many years does Angie have to turn in another great performance. Maybe Angie will win in The Changeling and Brad in Benjamin Button. That should make trolls cry for a while at least and make the JPs ever present in the world of cinema for a long, long time.

Hiya sweetie! :D
Nice to hear from you. I hope everything will be alright soon.
Hugs and Kisses to you too!
Take Care

George Clooney is not a true friend to Brad Pitt. Believe me. There is some backstabbing going on with him. GC cannot act his way out of a paper bag.
LJ @ 12/13/2007 at 12:01 pm LOL about you calling someone hater if she or he don’t like Angie’s work in that movie; it’s only opinion nothing to do with hate..
