LONDON FILM CRITICS @ 12/13/2007 at 12:22 pm
That’s because Keira and Christie were placed in a different category. I thought their absence was odd and then I gave the list another look and found them.
British Actress of the Year
Samantha Morton – Control (Momentum)
Julie Christie – Away From Her (Metrodome)
Keira Knightley – Atonement (Universal)
Helena Bonham Carter – Sweeney Todd (Warner)
Sienna Miller – Interview (The Works)
Good luck to Keira seems like she is going to need it.
#169: I hear you soopx. They are not used to HW couples who have no problem with one outearning or outshining the other. Brad is tired of the limelight but he still loves acting. He’s probably content for Angie to be the star in the family for once.
Angie however, don’t want the spotlight without him there with her so they are always together anywhere. I think that is so sweet of them. Each of them toning down their Hollywoodness and just focusing on being ordinary for the sake of their family and unity.
Amy Ryan seems like she has loads of talent. She is kicking Cate’s butt in these critics awards. I wouldn’t be surprised if she took the big O when it’s all said and done. She did theatre before film/movies right? Maybe that has helped to fine tune and perfect her acting to some degree?

I haven’t seen Gone Baby Gone (because of it’s controversy in the UK), but yeah she’s sweeping the critics. But if you look back in 2004/2005, Virginia Madsen sweeped the critics and Portman took home the globe. Blanchett (funnily enough) ended up winning the SAG and the oscar! It would be funny if it’s the situation this year.
Then in 2005/2006, Amy Adams and Michelle Williams won most of the critic awards, Rachel Weisz only won one and ended up winning the Globe, SAG and Oscar! But last year, Jennifer Hudson swept the critic and pre-cursor awards, unfortunately.
I hope she wins, but if Keira wins i will be happy aswell.
why is doing this woman next to Miss Blanchett?it’s almost an offense!ANgelina is not an actress!she is so bad!
I’m completely disgusted that Brad did not receive a nomination. He was phenomenal. GC, Julia Roberts –-I had a WTF moment –getting a nom based solely on azz kissing!
Anyway, on a better note, I’m very happy for Angelina and Brad for his Plan B. Hopefully with this nomination, more people will see the movie (perhaps they’ll re-release it in the US) and the message Marianne, Brad and Angelina tried to convey will be heard by more people, which is the main reason the movie got made.
She will win, Anyway she’s a winner to me! :)
Love Angie, keep up the good work! You’re fabulous

congratulations to angelina, she deserves the recognition. to the people who are saying she just sat through the movie, you couldn’t have seen the entire movie. just because and actor isn’t chewing up the set doesn’t mean they aren’t acting, i would assume it is much harder to convey emotion and depth in a quiet way and yet angelina did just that. i think she did a great job of showing marianne’s hope, fear, resolve, dignity, and sorrow. she gave this part the respect and depth it required and i am very glad she is being recognized for it.
Yay, go Angie!! She better win b/c:
- She’s the best
2. Keira Knightly majorly sucks in Atonement
C. Elizabeth is a snore fest
5. Who the hell is Julie Christie
VI Does anyone even care about Jodie Foster
*** I wanna see some hardcore “Pitt P0rn”
******************************************************
5. Who the hell is Julie Christie? Well Julie Christie is an Academy Award winning actress. She’s has been in many major motion pictures such as Dr. Zhivago and Darling for which is won her Oscar. She is a excellent actress who has been around for many years. She was and still is a great beauty. Before Angelina there was Julia Christie.

It was so funny the girl said the one question all the women wanted to ask besides asking you out on a date, which we know is impossible Because You have that goreous Wife and those adorable children… Than She said I’m sorry I know She’s Your Girlfriend Not Wife and Brad Said “Awww Its all the Same” !!! :)

Thanks so much for the recap Julia. We all knew that Brad and Angie see themselves as married couple….. they are in a committed relationship.
Big props to Brad for keeping the Make It Right project in forefront !

With Marion Cotillard (”La Vie en Rose”) pushed off to the comedy/musical race for actresses, that boosts Julie Christie’s (”Away from Her”) chances in the drama category, but Christie needs to be leery of Angelina Jolie (”A Mighty Heart”) and, if “Atonement” sweeps, Keira Knightley. Cotillard could face trouble from Ellen Page (”Juno”), Amy Adams (”Enchanted”) or Helena Bonham Carter (”Sweeney Todd”), but in her favor is that members of the foreign press may be predisposed to favor her portrayal of legendary French chanteuse Edith Piaf.

So, Angie could actually win over Julie Christie!

MIA at the Golden Globes
While nominating seven films for best drama picture at the Golden Globes, notably missing was “Into the Wild,” which led with the most Critics Choice Awards two days ago. Topping the list of acting snubs: Jack Nicholson (17 nominations, a record 6 wins, and the DeMille award) who was passed over for his role as a dying man on a mission to enjoy his last days in Rob Reiner’s “The Bucket List.”
Also missing from the nominations announced today: Nicole Kidman (7 nominations and 3 wins) who was hoping for a nod for “Margot at the Wedding” and Russell Crowe (5 nominations, 1 win) who ended up competing against himself when the Globes elevated his supporting turn in “American Gangster” into lead like his role in “3:10 to Yuma.” Angelina Jolie got nominated for “A Mighty Heart,” but not Brad Pitt for “Jesse James,” although I suspect voters must’ve figured that Brad might come to the show anyway if his honey did, eh?

I think thats unfair to Brad!
Brad never does these kinds of interviews for His movies.
Good morning Bampzs fans.
Well, congratulations Angie on your nomination! That’s great.
Now, I’m p*ssed off (I said I would be) that Brad was totally overlooked yet again for the great work he did this year! This is ridiculous! Was he even nominated for anything related to AMH? He should’ve been nominated for Best Actor as JJ. I know the committee or whoever is in charge saw the movie since Casey Affleck was nominated (well deserved)! But WTF??? You’ve got actors nominated in movies that haven’t even come out yet? Tom Hanks? Ellen Page? Charlie Wilson’s War and Juno? Brad Pitt was robbed! Oh, and there’s F*CKING George Clooney front and center, AGAIN!!! I’m so sick of this politics s*it! Yes “brad lover”, the GG suck!I hope the Oscars don’t overlook Brad this year. Ok, rant over, I just needed to get it off my chest.
Now, the only reason I’ll watch is to see if Angie wins, as she should this year. And she’ll have the best arm candy right by her side to support her, har honey Brad. :D
BTW, I know Brad doesn’t care about nominations, but as his fan, I do and I thought a little recognition would’ve been nice.
lmao :lol …the haters, fanistons and trolls are soooooooo losing their **** this morning, seriously they are chewing off their own arms - hahahaah…I am just sittin’ back munching popcorn an enjoying the show. :popcorn
….and brad very def should have been nominated, but I’ll hold out hope that the Oscars make it up to him for their snub last year. he should get a best producer nod for amh, and winterbottom should for director.
I’m happy that crowe wasn’t nominated….he’s a good actor but he sucked in AG…denzel was amazing..glad to see him get a nod.

I’m willing to look past your rudeness and namecalling…What’s the controversy in the Uk with G.B.G?
#200 & #203: So who cares if she Julie Christie wins the award. All we want is for them to walk the red carpet. She’s been nominated so she’s already been recognized and that’s enough for me.
However, as a kicker, that’s one more red carpet that the X won’t be walking on. Another blackeye for the trolls.
188- Tabitha:
Thanks for the recap. Awww…he sees Angie as his wife.
