Nikki Blonsky Picks Up Golden Globe Nomination
Nikki Blonsky nabbed a 2007 Golden Globe nomination for her performance in Hairspray. The film itself also was nominated for “Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy”.
Other nominees include: Across the Universe, Charlie Wilson’s War, Juno and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Congrats to Nikki, John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes and Zac Efron on the nominations. Good luck on January 13th!

Congratulations to Nikki and John. Haispray was a fantastic movie and everyone deserves all the recognition and praise it is getting.
I am a huge fan of Nikki Blonsky for her perseverance to overcome the odds and her ability to stay true to herself. Also let’s not forget what a fabulous talent she is in both acting and singing.
You go girl! Lots of people rooting for you to win it all!

John calling Nikki in the middle of an interview to congratulate her is the cutest thing ever, and I love that he says “this is your mama calling” and “we did it babygirl!” It’s really an affirmation of how close those two are.
And the fact that Zac called Nikki aswell is pure love, and just what they said to each other - it’s so intimate, and sweet! I wish we had a video of that too.
Jared, any chance you can work your magic and find us one? ;)

Anna, I bet the other young ‘uns would have called, at least! Everyone always said how close they became to each other while filming, and I know Elijah said in a recent interview that he kept in touch with his younger co-stars, so I’ve no doubt Nikki received a few congratulatory phone calls from the HS cast :D

I know what you mean, I’ve been buzzing about this all day. I told my friends, who know about my Hairspray obsession, but they didn’t even roll their eyes when I mentioned it, they grinned and said Nikki was really good in the movie and that she deserved it! And I just told my sister, who is also a huge fan, so needless to say, she was pleased :)

This just goes to show all those non believers who thought that Zac and Nikki friendship would end after the hairspray movie and promotions ended take that they still are the best of friends. Nikki so deserves this award!!!!!

I also think it was just fantastic that Zac called to congratulate her, and knew just how she’d react! Well, he has been going around pimping the video of her getting the part of Tracy on Youtube! I wonder if he saw this reaction, and thought it was just as “magical” and “full of joy” as the other one? *swoon*
And, of course they’re good friends. Zac said that he sees Nikki in his life for years to come, after the movie is done. (Yes, I actually did buy the Zac:Life story magazine. *hangs head in embarassment* )

–I am still just so happy and proud of Nikki, she has come along way and earned every nomination and award she has recieved. She walked onto that movie with nothing more than a dream to play Tracy Turnblad and she walked off with an amazing bunch of friends/mini family and a incredibly fantastic start ot her career. She not only fullfilled her dream but made the character come to life with so much personality and passion. You could just tell in her preformance that she was living out her dream and not expecting anything else out if this experience, but to walk out and get all the praise she did from her cast and crew members is one thing but then she gets all these awards and nominations from big wigs who see just how much talent and potential she has. I agree there is no way she can still be on the ground, if I were her I would be flying on cloud nine too!
OMG Nikki’s reaction…crying and throwing the coffee table. I really hope she wins. Not only does she deserve it the most but I think just by comparing reactions you can tell it means the most to her.
I don’t get why it seems people are viewing Nikki as the underdog and that Amy Adams is going to def. win. Nikki has been good at proving people wrong, so I hope she does so this time too.
And how cute is it that Zac knew she’d cry?
And now the burning question, if will she and Ben Lyons be going together to the GG?
Her reaction is just amazing..and above all real. You can just see how much this role has meant to her. She’s just really grounded…and she cried just like Zefron said she would.
I know Nonna Ben totally called it and E! are all over him about the date thing hehe.

“Hairspray brought so much joy to my life and changed my life. I never thought in a million years my name would be in the same sentence as Golden Globe nominee, so I am in shock and have never been so swept off my seat excited! I don’t think any of the other noms were as excited/happy/enthusiastic as her.
