just Chestnuts Roasting on an Open, cause in the one she sang with ne-yo she was screaming a lot and making ulgy poses and faces that she thinks is cute, and in the other one, “Gloria”, she stops in the middle of thew gloria to breath. 3 times.
but in chestnuts her voice is great.
i think she HAS a greet voice, but she doesnt know how to use it. I just dont like it.

I loved this one, its one of my christmas favorites and I think she did a great job on it!

My favorite would have to be The Christmas Song, her second song. She totally blew me away with that one, and you could tell people enjoyed it. I think that song showed her talent the best. President Bush looked pretty pleased with it as well.

Gloria, her third song, was just a step behind The Christmas Song. She can really hit, and hold, those high notes, very impressive.

Her first song was ok, but not her best. You could tell she was a little shaky and nervous, not that you can blame her. But by the end, she pulled through and was amazing. She was singing live too. She has work to do, and she can improve, but she definitely has the talent. I was proud of Vanessa.

I think that This was her best song she sounds lovely.

This is my favourite of Vanessa’s Performances. She really shines through when she doesn’t try too hard. She seems more relaxed & self confident here. Her voice range is shown to full advantage with this song.
Besides she looks so pretty,you can see the 2 young girls sitting next to the president, how taken they are with Vanessa.

Okay…I’m a huge fan and her performance was better than i ever gave her credit. With her recorded music it’s hard to tell how much is enhanced and so I think I was undervaluing the quality of her voice. Clearly she’s a dynamo! Congrats on a job well done and happy birthday V!!

Beautiful! Vanessa ROCKS!!!! Vanessa has a beautiful voice. President Bush looks really happy. Vanessa’s rendition of “The Chriistmas Song (Chesnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)” was beautiful. I’m almost crying.

I agree, she wasn’t the best, even I, a huge Vanessa fan, will admit this, but she most definitely wasn’t the worst. She IS a good singer, and with a litle work and a little time, she could be great. To have such talent, fame and modesty at such a young age is a blessing. She really can only get better from here.

This was a great performance for Vanessa she sounded AMAZING!!… i love her as a fan.. but i do have to admit when she came out at the very beginning idk wat it was like after she sang sum of the words her voice would get a little screachy and she was moving a little too much.. but idk it seemed like she was really the fun in that performance ne-yo and katherine were juss kinda singing not as much energy as V.. but she did awesome.. and gloria performance was great too.. my choir had to sing that song and it’s not an easy song to sing.. and to mention that shes only 18 well 19 tomorrow lol.. and she really can carry a ballad.. i’m not saying shes the best singer.. but compare her to sum of the useless talents we have today .. that lypsynch because the computer is the thing that makes the album for them V is amasing

Frankly, I didn’t think it was Vanessa best performance but to me there were only 3 that was any good at all. That was Andrea Bocelli—and his first number didn’t particularly blow me away—Heather Headley, and Vanessa. The rest were lifeless and flat. Ne-yo was OK but he didn’t sing that much or I blanked out when he did. My husband was kind of confused too that the show just lacked “something”. So, I don’t think anyone should judge too harshly since none of these people, except Andrea, sounded particularly outstanding. But it is obvious that Vanessa has a beautiful voice and she IS only 18 so she can only improve.

However, there are those people out there who just want to hate on her so it wouldn’t matter how she sounded because they will say something bad about her. As a matter of fact, the better she is, the more they bash.

Geez Miriam. Why did you bother coming. Watch the door on the way out.

Here’s the thing, I understand that there are parents concerned about the “racy photo”. That’s understandable. But why is it of any concern or the latest issue among people who aren’t parents?

Young people are sexual, whether you like to hear it or not, their hormones are all over the place at that age. Sex is new and exciting and mysterious to them. It’s common now for teens to be sexually active.. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying whether it’s ok or not, but just stating the fact! But my question is.. who are you to throw the first stone? It’s so easy for people to be critical about a very common thing that MOST teens do nowadays, yet don’t remember their own mistakes and follies. Were people that critical of you? Were you whipped and chained because of your mistakes? Or were you easily forgiven? Do the people you’ve wronged still talk to you? I bet most do. Yet it’s so easy for you bashers to trash this girl everytime for a deed she did that, to some people, is counted as wrong.

Let the photo scandal go! It’s not your problem to state the issue everytime there’s a thread about her.

There really is only one explanation as to why there’s a sudden wave of haters: They’re jealous. That’s why we normally don’t see many of them on Vanessa threads that have to do with her shopping, or hanging out with her parents, because she’s not doing anything special.

But now that she’s doing something, and doing something well, they feel like they’d do anything to bring her down. Because, God-forbid, Vanessa’s actually SUCCEEDING at something; especially after the you-know-what. It’s plain, naked jealousy.

Because if they can’t have what she has, the beauty, the fame, the talent, the only thing left to do is to try and take away all her glory and dignity. That’s just how people are these days.

one thing I noticed about Vanessa in the performance last night was that in the finale she helped Andrea Bocceli into his place to sing his solo and then back to the side afterwards - she just appeared very sweet and kind in helping him - patted him on his arm after she helped him into place - interesting to me that one of the youngest performers was the one doing the helping. Just something simple being observed spoke volumes to me about how sweet Vanessa truly is.

No, no brava… thanks though. I just wanted to have a nice convo with him that’s all. I didn’t have an inner motive… I really was just trying to understand where he was coming from. Kind of a change from all the bashing each other thing. He seems pretty intelligent and since we’re all humans, we all have good and bad sides.. i know there’s good in him.

I read the comments earlier and wanted to respond.

Last night I touched upon my observation with V-Loyalist and ellie, but I watched Vanessa and felt she performed nervously. I also feel that it is no small feat to sing for your nations’ president at the age of 18- so I applaud her effort. I can’t imagine how proud she and her parents feel. Compared to her past performances I’ve seen, do I think this was the strongest performance? No.

Some posts earlier brought up Ms.Hudgens photo scandal. I feel conflicted. This girl (because honestly, she is still a girl at age 18, 19 tomorrow) apologized. She apologized, and even as a non-fan I felt compassion for her. Think how awful it would feel to have your managers, parents; fans, and now the whole wide world see you in a compromising position like that? No matter how much pride, honor and integrity a person possesses- it can’t feel anything less than painful and regretful to have your private life made public for all to see. With that same compassion though, I also feel that no less than 4 years ago I too I was an 18 year old and the vapid generalizations of “oh all teens are crazy like that” upsets me to a degree, because not ‘all teens’ do what she did.

Vanessa’s fans are rallying so passionately behind her, because they simply like the girl! Something about her makes them happy. The negative and obscene opinions are complete attacks on a person none of you know! I am not a Vanessa fan, but reading through the comments is like observing immature, self righteous convictions that some feel they have the right to place upon someone you know through a computer or television screen (and possibly a brief encounter). Shame on you for thinking your negative opinions matter.

Yes mini me but wait when did you find time to write a new fanfic? Do you ever sleep? By the way how was babysitting the little rugrats? Also I think Banjo should be the ZA’s mascot. You could make him a little cape; he’d be so adorable!

I haven’t written it yet, just have it all planned out. I hope to start writing it on Sunday.
Babysitting was fine, it was just my little cousin and he spent most of the time in the pool so, wasn’t really much work for me at all!

He’d make a good mascot wouldn’t he? Actually he just got clipped yesterday so he’s even more adorable than usual!

Dee- I always try to speak up when I see that the claims against others begin to cross a line of whats’ relevant and what is simply an attack. I like that I can show how you don’t have to love Vanessa, but have your opinions. I like talking to her fans though, otherwise I wouldn’t be here.

I remember Vanessa from the movie 13 b/c it was a favorite film of mine and then when I saw her in HSM I was like “Oh, that’s the chic who played Noelle! Now she’s singing.”

Yuckkkkkkk. This is sucky america at its worst - phony emotion + phony manufactured songster = disneyfication of art, music and culture. And Bush looks like a prissy old church lady in the audience. McMuzak.

Hi DEE, let me put it to you this way (regarding the feeding). I feel like they are human garbage disposals right now. I’m actually scared of when they hit 14 or 15 when the real feeding frenzy starts. LOL I fed them the large can of ravioli, they love the stuff, and then 3 hours later…they ate an entire large pepperoni pizza. The are not fat boys, I don’t know where they put it. oh okay. Merry Christmas. As for Baby V~~I think that’s been her nickname even before HSM. Probably contributes to her voice, and how child-like it is. And the nickname that her mom gave her ‘nak-nini’ is actually a translation of that.

Me too Dee! A sushi bar just opened up in the shopping centre where I work, so guess what I buy on my lunch breaks…Plus, when I’m at uni there’s a really good sushi bar directly opposite it, so the days I’m there I have it too! :)

Yeah DEE, I have lived all over. I’m a military brat (my dad was in the military) and then I was in the Air Force, so I have moved around quite a bit. It’s been pretty cool. I never was able to go to Europe though. :-(

Of course a trip to Australia has always been my dream. :-D Someday!
