Jamie Lynn Spears, the 16-year-old sister of Britney, is 12 weeks pregnant!!!!!!
The Zoey 101 star says the father is her longtime boyfriend, Casey Aldridge. Here are some interview snippets via OK!:
On the pregnancy news being a shock to her and Casey: “It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected. I was in complete and total shock and so was he.”
On keeping the news to herself when she first found out: “As soon as I found out for sure from the doctor, I took two weeks to myself where I didn’t tell anybody. Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone’s opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me.”
On her mother not liking the news of her pregnancy: “[My mom Lynne] was very upset because it wasn’t what she expected at all. A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive.”
On her future with Nickelodeon series Zoey 101: “I haven’t spoken to (Nickelodeon) personally, but they have always been so great to me over the past years and have given me so many opportunities.”
On the message she’s sending to other teens about premarital sex: “I definitely don’t think it’s something you should do; it’s better to wait. But I can’t be judgmental because it’s a position I put myself in.”
This will be mom Lynne’s third grandchild (Britney has two young sons herself). “I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious,” Lynne says. “She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.”
Nickelodeon’s statement: “We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”

#24, you can usually tell when the tabloids are reporting something that’s true. This is pretty obviously for real. And, if you’re going to wait until Jamie Lynn talks about it herself, just remember Christina and JLo. For both of them, they were pretty obviously pregnant and pretty far along before they ever said anything about it publicly. So, don’t hold your breath on that.

If adults treat sex casually, so will teenagers, so where do the “bad moral judgments” really start?
The only bright side is, unlike most unwed teenage mothers, JL is at least in the financial position to care for her baby, and apparently will be supported (emotionally) by her mother.

New life is always a great thing but wow- that Spears family has been hit with some real shocks in ‘07. She’s a baby having a baby and there is nothing exciting about that.
Hopefully she has people in her life (aunts, uncles… anyone else who has had a child) that can help aide her in raising this child until she’s a bit older. It’s so sad- she can’t even legally buy herself a drink or even vote and she’s supposed to be taking care of a child in about 5 months… that’s intense.
One good thing she did say in the interview was that she wants to raise this baby outside of Hollywood. She and her older sister lead through example that not everyone can really conquer and handle being a star. It’s good she won’t be in the middle of Hollyweird trying to raise a child when she herself is a child.

People have been younger and having kids and no one bashes them, it’s Jamie’s and her boyfriends choice what to do, not any of ours, yes, it was bad but bashing her isn’t going to change anything. Especially since technically it isn’t any of our business. Also, how do you know that she will become like her sister, there is nothing that says she will, a lot of young mothers turn out to be the greatest parents, and I don’t get why you bash her, what if it was you or anyone that you know? Think about that.

Teen pregnancy is nothing new under the sun. We are just “shocked” because she’s semi famous, but one need only go to Wal Mart to understand she is among millions. Now hopefully she is a better mother than Britney. You are judging parenting based on her sister’s actions without giving her a chance. It is an unfortunate situation but she is taking responsibility for her actions by coming out and being truthful. It would have been far worse had she tried to conceal her pregnancy suggesting that she was embarassed when it’s nothing to be ashamed about. Yes, I know that young girls get pregnant every day, but these girls were allowed to live like adults from such a young age and now their lives are irreversibly changed. The reason that Nickelodeon won’t tolerate it is because when you’re on Nick and Disney, really young girls idolize you, and although not all people see something wrong with having sex as a teenager, many people do, and they have to be able to appeal to all audiences. There’s nothing wrong with pre-marital sex in general, in fact waiting until you’re married when you are in a stable relationship, willing and ready, both for the act itself and to deal with any possible consequences doesn’t make much sense to me but that’s just my opinion…the legal age of consent in the UK is 16 so I don’t think that’s too young to be having sex but it is too young to be a parent. Hell I’m almost 21 and I don’t think I’m old enough to be a mum.
16 is also too young to be living with a boyfriend, even if he’s perfect…which I’m assuming LJ’s boyfriend isn’t because nobody is.
If he is her long time boyfriend then she should have been on the pill or injection or implant…something more reliable then just using condoms.

I’m a teacher at a school that has many unwed teenage mothers. In my grade 10 history class I have six of them. Each one of these six girls got pregnant on purpose. They decided that they were old enough to have a baby and no one could stop them. Well, each of these girls now has a baby and they are finding out that it’s not as easy as they thought. Play time is over ; it’s grow up time. What the other teachers and I are trying to do is give the girls the skills each will need to support themselves and the babies.
I think that when the dust settles Jamie Lynn will find realize that it’s grow up time for her as well. I only hope she has someone capable of helping her see that. Someone other than the mother, Lynne, who in my opinion is totally useless.
