Jamie Lynn Spears, the 16-year-old sister of Britney, is 12 weeks pregnant!!!!!!
The Zoey 101 star says the father is her longtime boyfriend, Casey Aldridge. Here are some interview snippets via OK!:
On the pregnancy news being a shock to her and Casey: “It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected. I was in complete and total shock and so was he.”
On keeping the news to herself when she first found out: “As soon as I found out for sure from the doctor, I took two weeks to myself where I didn’t tell anybody. Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone’s opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me.”
On her mother not liking the news of her pregnancy: “[My mom Lynne] was very upset because it wasn’t what she expected at all. A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive.”
On her future with Nickelodeon series Zoey 101: “I haven’t spoken to (Nickelodeon) personally, but they have always been so great to me over the past years and have given me so many opportunities.”
On the message she’s sending to other teens about premarital sex: “I definitely don’t think it’s something you should do; it’s better to wait. But I can’t be judgmental because it’s a position I put myself in.”
This will be mom Lynne’s third grandchild (Britney has two young sons herself). “I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious,” Lynne says. “She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.”
Nickelodeon’s statement: “We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”

i think it was an accident but i think it’s good that she wants to have the baby cause the baby is the only one who isn’t guilty and has a right to live though her mother is too young

ITA with # 17: Helena and all the rest who are questioning HOW/WHY a Mother (Lynne Spears) WOULD EVER ALLOW/CONDONE her 16-yr. old daughter living with her 19 yr. old bfriend– it’s beyond words to defend that backward rationale!
As for her “career”== I totally believe that Nickelodoen should fire her preggers a**– Nickeleodeon is a KIDS CHANNEL- I, for one if I had daughters would absolutely NOT ALLOW them to watch that Zoey 101 show if they decide to “keep her on”… this is what is soooo messed up about our conutry now-a-days– No moral fiber, No discpline for our children (oh, no it will “destroy” their self-worth/self-esteem), No respect for elders, Teens allowed to rule and run the house, etc… it’s about time parents’ start PARENTING thier children INSTEAD of allowing them to do whatever they want and be damned with the consequences of our actions! There is NO GOOD REASON for this CHILD to have ended up pregnant at 16, UNLESS it was a well-thought out and conceived PLAN! NO GOOD REASON!!

This just comes to show you what kind of parents Britney and Jamie has. Jamie should have known to use protection or birth control with unprotected sex—any mature woman knows that. Apparently, Britney or their mother did not discuss this with Jamie while she was with her boyfriend. They let this girl go on with this guy without any further ado.
This just shows you what kind of morals the entire Spears family has.

I think this is awful, that show should be cancelled. She is not a role model at all. If I were their mom I would be pretty disappointed in my parenting skills.

Teen pregnancy is nothing new under the sun. We are just “shocked” because she’s semi famous, but one need only go to Wal Mart to understand she is among millions. Now hopefully she is a better mother than Britney. I at least respect her for not going the abortion route since she definitely has enough money to make ends meet and could hire a nanny pretty much full time if she really wanted to “get on” with life.
This is her second pregnancy - she terminate her first one. Anyone remember the news about her pregnancy early this year???

It’s shocking to see those on here who perceive (early) teen pregnancy as common! With all the information available today, anyone with intelligence or means should not be confronted with this situation as this is a “child” having a child. Roe vs. Wade is on the books for a specific reason, i.e. not to be abused but to be utilized for situations such as this. Why didn’t her mother teach her about birth control, condoms, etc.? If her sister, Britney, cannot raise children in her twenties, this immature girl will confront a similar fate and without a father to her child.
Our teens need better (visual) role models than this today and Lynn Spears demonstrated her ignorance by running to OK! Magazine to broadcast the news.

Kira, kids know about birth control but they will always rebel. There are people out there who have children at 30 who are bad parents. You are judging parenting based on her sister’s actions without giving her a chance. It is an unfortunate situation but she is taking responsibility for her actions by coming out and being truthful. It would have been far worse had she tried to conceal her pregnancy suggesting that she was embarassed when it’s nothing to be ashamed about. She’s focusing her energy now on doing the right thing for her child as there is no turning back.

Are the Spears parents zombies somewhere living in a cave? Yes, I know that young girls get pregnant every day, but these girls were allowed to live like adults from such a young age and now their lives are irreversibly changed. Just because you become a celebrity when you’re a child doesn’t mean that you can handle an adult life. This is so sad. I hope she’s smarter than her sister about being a mom. Sad that a 16-year-old could potentially be a smarter mom than someone who’s been a legal adult for years.

im 16 and i dont “run our house”. when she moved outta her mums place, her mum wouldnt be able to do anything 2 stop her. well in australia atleast. dunno how old in the usa u gotta b 2 move out legally.
and sayin u would let ur daughters watch it..hmmm thats a bit wrong. so if someone on a popular show got pregnant u wouldnt let them watch it?

Having a baby at 16 is so not cool, having an abortion is so not cool either… is for many to call her trailer trash but she is human and living the hollywood life - this is not easy and certainly not for a 16 year old..
I wish her all the best and hope that she grows into a well balanced person.
