New OK! interview snippets from 16-year-old mom-to-be Jamie Lynn Spears have surfaced via CBB.
On telling Casey: [I called Casey after the doctor's appointment and met in person the next day.] It was something we couldn’t really talk about over the phone. We met and talked about everything and decided what we wanted to do. He was 100 percent supportive, and we figured it out.
On telling her mother: [I told my mom right before Thanksgiving.] She was very upset because it wasn’t what she expected at all. A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive.
On her first ultrasound: [Mom and Casey were there.] I was just kinda sitting there. I didn’t expect to be able to see all that. Again, it was a shock. At first, everything is so shocking and you’re scared. But then when I saw it, I was like ‘It’s going to be okay.’ It’s things like that that make you realize it’ll be okay.
On her body: I think it’s something that you just know how to do. As your body changes and all these things happen, I think it becomes natural to know what to do. I will have to be strong and do what’s right. I’m sure it’ll get hard at times. I’m sure I’ll be grumpy. I have to remember in the end that I have to stand up and be strong.
I’m not showing, but some days I’m like: ‘Wow, I feel like I’m showing today,’ and Mom says: ‘No you’re not. Be quiet.’ It’s great to have her there. She is really supportive of me.

On believing she’ll be a good mom: I love babies, and I have my nephews that I love. I have a great mom and she has raised three kids, so if I take lessons from her, I think I’ll be great. All my friends have little brothers or sisters.
On the sex of the baby: I want to find out as soon as I can because I’m impatient. I just want a healthy, happy baby, so the whether it’s a boy or a girl really doesn’t matter.
On names: I haven’t thought about baby names yet. I would have to hear some options!
On morning sickness: I definitely had sickness, but it’s getting better. It was at its worst a few weeks ago.
On not having any cravings: I haven’t really got much of an appetite right now. I mean, I eat, but I’m not going crazy or anything.
On preparations such as the nursery: I haven’t even had time to think about that much yet as I have had so much going on. All you can be is excited now, so definitely, I will be excited.
On marriage and the living situation: Jamie Lynn wants to make clear that they do not live together — she lives with Lynne, while he lives with his parents.
Right now, we’re just focusing on the baby and having a healthy baby. We’re trying just to think about that right now so we haven’t really talked about that.
On Casey as a father: He has always been good with babies. He’s like a big teddy bear, especially around babies, so I know he’ll make a good dad.
On her hopes for 2008: Just to have a healthy baby and a healthy pregnancy and for everything to fall in place and to become a stronger person from here.

On finding out Jamie Lynn was pregnant: She came to me and said: ‘Mom, I have to tell you something. Here, it’s in a note.’ I was taken aback. I read the note, which of course said that she was pregnant, and ran into the living room. I said: ‘I don’t believe this. This is not funny!’ I looked at Casey, and he was staring straight ahead. She said: ‘Yes, Momma, it’s true.’
On if Jamie Lynn and Casey should get married: We’re not going there. We’re focusing on the baby. We’ve got so much to focus on right now.
On grandchildren: My grandsons are so adorable! Of course, another little boy would be precious, but a little girl would be precious too. It doesn’t matter so long as it’s healthy — that’s what’s important.
Her hopes for 2008: Health, peace, happiness and a real good healthy focus for life, for all [my children's] lives.

actually, katherine, it IS the sex of the baby and not the gender. although both are acceptable terms, when choosing one over the other in this context, gender refers more to the cultural stigmas attatched to male and female while sex refers to the biological and physical differences (physically a boy or girl).

i think that no matter what age you are, having a baby is a hard job…she has the best role models ever, her mom handed her sister over to the record companies when she should of been raising her, and then britney handed her kids over to k-fed, and before the stuff hits the fan on that one, britney has had SOOO many chances to redeem herself, to be called by all news,magazine,television organizations as”Trainwreck of the Year” . I am a mom of 3. 2 being girls ages 6 and 7, they heard about it at school from kids who have older sisters. for her to be pregnant and take responsibility is one thing, to plaster it on a cover so when i take my girls to the store and they stand at the check out with the magazine in their face, is another thing;but maybe Lynn is thinking ahead,getting paid 1 million for the story,because she knows that Nickelodeon will end their contract,since they put out word a few months ago of Jamie-Lynn’s high moral character. On her being excited about knowing what it is, that is the kid in her talking….she is a kid,having a kid. won’t be the first nor the last. Ok, first of all, you have to be at least 4 months along for an ultrasound and as small as jamie lynn is, she could pull off being 4 months, so i think 12 weeks is exagerated. Also, Britney was seen baby shopping, which sparked rumors of her being pregnant, then sparked rumors, that she was shopping for x-tina, but x-tina shot those rumors down, by saying she recieved nothing from spears. So that leaves me wondering if britney has known the whole time, before anyone else and the gossip pages, are just making up BS, that Britney was the last too know.

It’s not biologically unhealthy for a girl this age to have kids — I’m not sure where the idea that her body’s not ready’s coming from. That’s what menstruations means — your body’s ready.
That said, this is obviously unplanned and not a good development in any way. Especially “I’ll do what my mom did”, which is NUTS. When both of your daughters go down in flames after you’ve pushed them into the entertainment industry? That’s when you realise that your parenting skills might need some help.
To be honest, I sort of hope she and the father shack up somewhere in Arkansas, use the Nickelodeon money to get established, then try to live as normal, unfamous people. And… get advice from outside the family, because yikes.

you know what? i think a lot of people are being way too cruel about this situation. she is a 16 year old who had sex with a guy she’d been dating for a couple of years. do people forget what it’s like to be a 16 year old girl and pressures and urges you have when it comes to sex? and the fact that unfortunatly most teenagers (especially when hormones are involved) don’t think before they act. i always thought jamie-lynn seemed like a normal young woman, and i mean she met her boyfriend at church, she just did what so many young people today are doing: having sex. yes she got pregnant from it, but teenage pregnancies happen to ALOT of good girls. it’s unfortunate but it doesn’t make her or her mother the anti-christ and they shouldn’t hide their heads in shame. though i would never condone teen pregnancy, i also would never judge a teen girl who became pregnant because i am so aware of how easily it can happen. even the nicest and most moral of girls sometimes give into sexual urges, and unfortunatly for jamie-lynn she got pregnant. it really doesn’t make her a bad role model, in my opinion. both my 12 and 13 year old sisters love Zoey 101 and they both know she’s pregnant now but neither of them suddenly think teen pregnancy is cool, they’re mostly just upset the show might be cancelled. And as for people saying mean things about Lynn Spears for being supportive and proud of her daughter, well what did you expect her to say? “I don’t support this at all, I’m ashamed of her, I disown her, I won’t help her, she should get an abortion.” Well if she said that I think she’d be a waaaaaaay worse mother. Even though they are kind of media whores, I think everyone should just leave the Spears women alone. Obviously from Jamie’s pregnancy to Britney’s total breakdown there is a lot of difficult and sad things going on there and really it makes me sad to see. We’re so quick to judge Jamie even though any 16 year old girl could be in her position, and if you think your daughter or sister would never put herself in the situation to get pregnant, obviously you don’t remember what it’s like to be 16. And we’re so quick to judge Britney even though she’s had a camera in her face since she was 16 and has had every move she makes judged, photographed and documented. She can’t leave the house without a slew of paparassi following her and from her actions over the past year I think it’s really obvious she is suffering from some sort of serious mental breakdown, which is serious and sad.
I just feel bad for these girls.

Miley Cyrus was NEVER pregnant (it was just a baseless rumor) and in fact has gone public with her personal belief in not having sex until she is an adult. Why tar her with the same brush as JL simply because they are close to the same age?
I understand the disappointment with JL (I have kids who watch her show and I worry, too, what they will learn from this), but for goodness’ sake, a little compassion and generosity wouldn’t hurt either–just because she’s on television or because she’s Brittney Spears’ sister doesn’t make her less of a scared, confused 16 year old who has to deal with her whole life changing. I hope Jamie Lynne has a great support system to help her through the pregnancy. I remember when I was 15 and pregnant. It was scary, but luckily I had my family members to guide me and it made the situation less hard. At least with Jamie Lynne, it seems the dad will stick around, while in my case, he ran. But I am 28 now, happily married with 2 more children so its not the end of the world. Stay strong Jamie Lynne.

Everyone keeps saying protection, but I highly doubt Jamie Lynn was educated by her mother about the pill and condoms are not fail proof. She’s only 16 and she probably thought it would never happen to her. The worst thing about Lynn’s parenting was that she was niave and too trusting. She probably never even tried educating her daughter which was a disservice. I think teaching kids about contraceptives is a good thing, whether you tell them to abstain or not. This is another example of how honest communication is important and to tell you the truth, this might be a wake up call for a lot of people who have kids that look up to Jamie Lynn.

i’m just disheartened by everything that goes on in this world and the “role models” that are out there for children to see. i know that parents should be the primary role model for ther children and that’s how my husband and i plan to raise our children….however, there is such a barrage from the media, etc that it’s almost overwhelming. you almost can’t fight it all as it constantly comes in through so many outlets. my husband and i wish to start trying for our first child but to be honest…i’m actually scared to bring a child into this world. a world where people with poor morals and serious lack of judgement are accepted and even sometimes praised for the things they do. i just find it very sad.

This was plan. Birth control when use properly (Pills and condoms), works. I have use both since the age of 17 & now 35. I have only been pregnant twice and those times I wasn’t on BC and was trying. The boy being 18 probably wasn’t a virgin and has definitely used a condom before. They even advertised BC on TV for Pete’s. Like Solange Knowles a few years ago, I think this was for attention. Many of my friends in High School were teen moms and a lot of them admitted they got pregnant on purpose.

My mom was 17 when she had me and it was her first time. She had a healthy term.I also think she did use protection.protection is not 100%. however, Its not the end of the world. Not always…if you’ll look at the lables on ALL birth control methods, nothing is 100% effective. Remember that everyone. I have a friend who is a condom/birth control baby. The ONLY 100% proof birth control method is abstinence.
You don’t have to be trailer trash to get pregnant people…it happens to people from all walks of life.
I honestly don’t know how these young actors deal with being a roll role model at such a young age. That’s a lot of resposibility to put on someone so young. It’s hard for adults much less kids constantly in the public eye.

Listen up: Birth Control DOES WORK when used appropriately… I am a 30ish married mom with two wonderful boys’ 5 and under and am on what’s called “the pill”– now, I am very busy- working, mothering, running around, etc… I wil admit to the fact that sometimes I forget to take my pill- sometimes 3 + days in a row! (not smart, I KNOW)… but my point is is that I am still being PROTECTED and have not wound up with babe # 3~… so for all those screaming- b. control does not always work- yes, you are right- when the person taking the b. control DOES NOT WANT IT TO WORK! Even with all the ones, I’ve missed- I am STILL BEING PROTECTED and therefore there is NOT 1 LEGITAMATE REASON for this CHILD to be in the sad circumstance she finds herself in today- NOT 1~!

you are totally right. i used to take birth control and i would miss a couple of days here and there….all you have to do is take a double dose and then get back on track. THE PILL DOES WORK. i think people sometimes say that they “used birth control and still got pregnant” to cover up for their embarrassment and the fact that they DIDN’T use protection. now, this “excuse” has become a far too common explanation which breeds further ignorance and bad practices. btw, you CAN double up. my sister is a GYN/ONC and says this is a perfectly acceptable, effective and safe way to keep yourself protected after missing some doses.

Oh, this country is messed up alright, but not for the reason you stated. It’s messed up because there are pregnant 16-year olds who have people STICKING UP FOR THEM! Since when is it normal to have a baby at 16 AND out of wedlock? How can anyone possibly stick up for this girl or any other pregnant teen?

all i can say is mastakes happen and you get swept up in the moment.. personally i think that she cares simply because she did not think of having an abortion. yes she may not be able to fully support her kid but she has a loving familly to support her. i am a 14 years old female and i how 3 people that got preg. at a young age [like 13-15] 1 of them got raped and had no choice but to have the baby. she unfortunatly died 2 hrs after giving birh. oh please if anything all of us should feel bad for her… first her dad, then sister, now shes pregnant so what if shes pregnant id rather have a baby at sixteen than 40…and besides that i support jamie and her family.
also pretty much everyone has sex at 15 or 16 so just because shes famous its a big deal well u could be one to have sex at 16 like her and get pregnant
