Wikipedia is information submitted by the public. Re-read what you posted. It was contraversial because of Soon Yi’s relationship with MIA FARROW because he was involved with her. Soon Yi is not Woody Allen’s adopted daughter. Nor was he a father figure to her.

Anyone who said she was his daughter is WRONG! Mia adopted Soon-Yi with her 2nd husband. And Woody never really lived with Mia during their relationship so we don’t know if he was close to her or not. The other children even said they didn’t have a bond with him. I agree it was wrong mainly for the fact that she was Mia’s daughter and therefore, that is a betrayal, but get your facts right about Soon-Yi’s relation to him.
Also, no one seems to mention that while the scandal happened with Woody and Soon-Yi, Mia accused him of molesting their five year old adopted daughter Dylan. The court ruled that the child was coached by Mia and therefore, was not sexually molested by him. Who would force their 5 year old daughter to lie about their father in that manner and subject her to something she never should have been exposed to?
This story goes both ways…Woody was wrong, but Mia also reacted cruelly and vicious…Woody and Soon-Yi have been together forever now, so it doesn’t even matter…they love each other and it’s not for me or anyone else to understand…

Get over yourself! Woody Allen is brilliant- haven’t you ever heard of people being attracted to intelligence over looks? Look at Marilyn Monroe- she married Arhtur Miller who was a total bookworm. A genius writer, but not attractive and definitely older than her. And why even mention their looks? If they love each other, it doesn’t matter what they look like. read up on the incident…Dylan was on camera and it was obvious Mia was telling her what to say…she was examined and there was no evidence he did anything to her. The court dismissed the charges completely! And she was 5!!! Any decent mother would never manipulate their daughter to accuse their father of crimes they didn’t commit. That is sick in my book.

I took up for him some (playing a devil’s advocate) because I think that people forget everything Mia did in response to his and Soon-Yi’s relationship. They only remember he slept with his partner’s daughter. I pointed out that she was wrong in making up molestation charges against him (proven to be false) just to enact revenge. The victim was her 5-year old daughter. If she really loved her children, then why compromise your child in that way?
And I mentioned the brilliance because far too many people kept mentioning how ugly he was and Soon-Yi. Looks have little to do with anything.
And Roman Polanski is a different situation. Woody was never convicted of any criminal charges. Polanski was convicted of rape and left the country to avoid serving his sentence. He cannot re-enter the United States without serving his sentence.
I think what we must realize is that Hollyowood tends to forgive and forget people’s crimes and scandals. Polanski won a best director Oscar for The Pianist. He is still upheld as a really talented director. That is just how it works. Most actors would stand in line to work with Woody Allen.

If a man is willing to sleep with one of your own daughters that he has known since before she hit puberty(that’s what I just read when I googled this up from a time magazine) and has had regular familial contact with for years, that’s a big red flag. People make excuses for rich, talented people whom they would not make excuses for if they were your Average joe.
Woody Allen crossed a line. Even if he did not adopt Soon Yi - she is sister to his kids with Mia so in essence he is now married to their sister. So she is their Aunt and step-mother. This kind of lack of boundaries is confusing and harmful to kids.
There are millions of people to marry in the world, even if you fall in love with your ex-lover’s adopted daughter who shares the same mother as your biological kids, why act on it? Why not just keep the love in your heart and walk away? This is sick. We are only making excuses for him because he is famous.
Think about it: would you all want your husband to marry the daughter you adopted who happens to be sister to the chldren you had with your ex? Why make things so confusing for kids?
In a world, where boundaries between adults and children are already dangerously muddled, why make it harder? He can love her but he could have made a decision to not act on that love and moved on.

I think this couple is disgusting. Although the charges of molestation by Woody against Dylyan, his daughter with Mia, were not proven, the court found his behavior with her to be “grossly inappropriate”. He was denied visitation with her and allowed only supervised visits with his son by Mia. The judge also found it distressing that Woody lacked any comprehension of the impact his affair with Soon-Yi would have on his children. Whether he legally adopted her or not, she was the sister of his three children and the fact that their father was sleeping with their sister had a very negative impact on them. None of his three children with Mia see him now.

Please do not print this. I am only venting. Can you imagine some of the fights that may have taken place, that we will never get to find out about: Woody, you dirty old man! How could you have stollen my innocence, when you know that I did not know any better than to go behind Mia’s back and let you take naughty pictures of me. Why? Yes he was accused of molesting his own child a long time ago but, it was never proved so it was thrown out of court. (Anyone can be accused of something - doesn’t mean they did it)
He does make some interesting movies.
Matchpoint was a great movie. It was so good that I had no clue that it was a Woody Allen movie until the credits rolled. I quit watching his movies when I heard about Soon Yi.
I guess Scarlett Johanson loves to work with him. Some people lack any sense of moral judgement. Time does not erase a crime when there is no remorse. In many states it is illegal to marry a step-child, step-parent or step-sibling even if there has been a divorce. This is a reflection of our society’s disgust of inter-familial sexual relationships where with blood or step relations.
The time seems to be coming where nothing will be taboo…a lot of Europeans don’t see what’s wrong with sex with children. Apparently, their attitudes are creeping into our society. Heaven help us.
