I’m black and her hair looks fine. She has naturally curly hair. There’s no need for her to have it braided. There’s also no guarantee that having her hair braided will make it grow. My cousin did that with her daughter and it didn’t do a damn thing except make her tender headed and break her hair off.

As another Black woman from Baltimore (Greenmount and 23rd to be exact) there is absolutely nothing wrong with her hair. If anything, I think some sistas might be throwing a little hateration Z’s way because of the texture. Yes, the texture of her hair is naturally curly - not kinky nigga naps - although there is nothing wrong with that. Didnt mean to be offensive but I think I had to go there. My main reason for being here is not to see Shiloh. I am a fan of her parents, and she’s by extension a part of that family. Not seeing her or any of the children for some time doesn’t bother me in the least. I think that’s a good thing cause they get to have their privacy. Brad has talked about the kids not liking the paps, so, if we see them, we see them, if we don’t, we don’t. It’s not our right to see pictures of this family, especially their children.

ok before I forget, I have a Aunt who works for the UNHCR, in refugees camps in Africa, and since she knows I am the biggest fan of Angelina, she told me that in one of her camps ( my aunt’s), in Africa, I think in Kenya, there is a boarding school dedicated for her and it is called Angelina Jolie school, and many staffs( who work for the UN) love her so much, when I heard this I was so happy, and I wanted to share with you guys.

Very true…one should also ask why Brad didn’t have an outing with just Shiloh when they were in NY? He was snapped with their oldest children many times (collectively and separately). He must hate her like Angie does, huh? Maybe those worried about Shiloh should fly down to NO and ask them. They are out and about in their neighborhood enough for you to spot them :)

BOTH Angelina and Brad know exactly what they are doing…they know certain folks only want to see/care about Shiloh and that aren’t playing into it. I love that about them! She’ll be out and about when they want to take their youngest child out. Simple as that.

For one she is not your child and two it is none of your business. I can bet you money that you have never a dopted a child or donated to any charity. This adorable couple is doing alot including adopting children and giving them better home with Love and all you can worry about is the look of her hair?

Objectively, you also have to remember that back then there was only Maddox and Zahara. Shiloh wasn’t actually born yet, though Angelina was pregnant with her. It’s certainly easier to be out and about with two kids versus the four (with them all still being so young).

Though she probably naps more than her older siblings, I don’t think it’s her age but the way people seem to have orgasms when they see the kid. The Lee’s Art Shop scene would have been enough for anyone watching that video to understand why it might creep them out as parents (the fascination with their daughter). Add in the way the media seems to focus on Shiloh and it makes sense. If the media/paps were like that with ALL the kids, I’d get it. But they’re not.

For me, I could care less if I see any of their kids. They have such an intrusive life because of the jobs their parents have.

It beats the hell out of me why we have to go through this everytime Z wears her hair loose. I was at the grocery store earlier and saw a couple of little black girls who looked like they’d put their fingers in a light socket. BUT…they were well-dressed, looked like they were getting plenty to eat, smiling, looked happy…and gosh darnit, they just weren’t fretting about their hair at all. Go figure. Feature: Jolie gives refugee girls a shot at school in Kenya

KAKUMA, Kenya, Oct 14 (UNHCR) – Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie leaned forward eagerly as a young Sudanese girl quietly recounted her tale of how she had fled war and hunger in her homeland and finally made her way to Kakuma refugee camp just over the border in north-western Kenya.

“She lost her entire family when she was only five years old and has been in this camp for more than 10 years. What do you say to someone who loses her whole family at such an age?” asked Jolie, visibly moved as she heard this and many other stories from refugee girls who had flocked to welcome her on this visit on Sunday. The sprawling camp at Kakuma is home to some 80,000 people.

Many of the girls moved Jolie, a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, close to tears as they told her how much they wanted to go to school and receive an education, but for a variety of reasons were often unable to do so.

“These girls are so strong, so inspiring. They want an education because they want a better life, they know they don’t have to stay forever near the bottom of the pile and want to move up,” Jolie said after sitting and chatting with the girls under the shade of a tree at one reception centre.

The Goodwill Ambassador shook her head in disbelief as she heard how many of the girls and women in the camp were subjected to various forms of violence – from rape to genital mutilation – and how many were unable to attend school due to domestic chores.

“On this trip my main concern has become the plight of refugee women and particularly girls. In Kakuma, close to 1,000 girls are out of school. I was upset to find that a good part of them are in this situation because of both early and forced marriages. I saw 12-year-old mothers!” she said.

To address the problems of young girls being abducted for marriage and early pregnancies, the UN refugee agency has set up programmes in the camp, like increasing the number of female police officers to encourage reporting of such incidents. A magistrate from the nearby town of Lodwar travels to Kakuma regularly to hear cases in a mobile court set up to handle various cases, including the abduction of girls for marriage. Refugee women committees established throughout the camp help counsel victims of early pregnancies and speak to communities about the risks of female genital mutilation. In school, an incentive programme is being run to encourage more girls to attend school. Attendance remains very irregular depending on domestic pressures refugee girls may face at home.

“As a refugee girl, you are expected to stand in line for hours to fetch water and carry it home, go out and forage for firewood, and cook and clean for the family,” said Jolie, noting that girls had to confront many other barriers in order to receive a decent education.

The Goodwill Ambassador made a personal donation of $200,000 to UNHCR’s work in Kenya, earmarking $50,000 of her donation to build a new school for girls at the camp. Many of its prospective pupils sang and clapped their hands as she unveiled a plaque and planted a tree at the proposed site.

“With this help, and the construction of this school, future generations of girls will be saved. Work begins tomorrow,” declared Kofi Mable, head of UNHCR’s Kakuma sub-office.

The plaque reads: “Dedicated to the emancipation of the refugee girls of Kakuma and women’s rights and freedom to education.”

Jolie said she had also heard chilling accounts of children as young as five being subjected to genital mutilation. “A number of the older women have also been raped and suffered other forms of sexual violence,” she said. “There can be no compromise on the physical safety and dignity of women as a whole, and particularly the refugee girls.”

Jolie, who is in Kenya shooting the sequel to the movie, “Tomb Raider”, also visited several other projects at the camp and handed out gifts ranging from volleyballs to exercise books. She expressed concern that a projected budget shortfall of some $20 million in UNHCR Kenya could lead to programme cuts.

“Most of the people here are already living on the bare minimum – any cut means a life,” she said, and appealed to the international community to continue to support “the work of UNHCR and the other organisations working for refugees, such as the World Food Programme – above all to ensure there is funding made available”.

The Goodwill Ambassador, who was greeted at Kakuma’s dirt airstrip by local Turkana tribeswomen, was given an enthusiastic welcome wherever she went in the camp. Young children sang songs and read poems of peace while their parents and older refugees banged drums and performed traditional dances.

She began her tour by watching a wheelchair basketball match by the victims of landmines. She moved on to a construction site where houses are built out of mud bricks.

Kakuma, which was created after thousands fled fighting in south Sudan – Africa’s longest-running civil war – also houses refugees from Angola, Ethiopia, Eritrea, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda. Sudanese, however, make up some 71 percent of the population.

Jolie, who has visited several refugee camps around the world since she became a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN refugee agency over one year ago, said she had seen “worse and better” camps than Kakuma. But what made this camp different was the number of girls who simply did not have a chance for a better life.

“It is not fair, it is simply not fair – every child, every girl has a right to education. Here they have just enough to survive, but they are so special, so spirited. It is I who must learn from them,” she later told a press conference in Nairobi.

UNHCR’s Representative to Kenya, George Okoth-Obbo, said Jolie’s visit was a shot in the arm to all concerned. “It is wonderful and humbling that someone so busy should find time to come here, to use her renown, her artistry, her presence, just to bring some joy into what is undoubtedly a hard life for many of the people here,” he said.

Cuz that’s an honor one of the tabs bestowed upon KatIE Cruise this week. Is that what it takes to be considered a good mother? If so, thank God, for making Angelina a bad mother. It may have skipped your notice, but the entertainment and activity requirements for children ages 3, 4 and 6 are a wee bit more advanced than those for a 19 month-old toddler who still spends huge chunks of time NAPPING every day. I wonder if those who ask “where is Shiloh” have ever heard of span on control. In every situation parents have to ask if tey can keep all children safe. Having 4 small children, there are instances where having a 1-1/2 along is not wise. When Zahara was a baby, there was only Maddox and Z, with 2 parents. So it was logistically easier to take her out more. Shiloh is the youngest of 4 small children (3 of whom are toddlers.) They have to navigate the paparrazi, curious onlookers, fans, etc. And they have to keep the famiily safe. I am sure there are plenty of family events where all 4 kids participate.

As a Black woman I myself love the way Angelina Jolie has Zee’s hair in this picture. It is natural and beautiful.

I admire Ms Jolie in that she has not tried to put this child in a cookie cutter box at such a young age,about her hair which is a different texture then anyone else in her family. It seems as if she is instilling within Zee pride about her self. Whether her hair is in ponytails or in a natural fro.

Angelina Jolie as a Mother has done a good job with Zee ’s hair whether it is in pony tails or it is natural, especially since she doe not have a lot of experience with this texture of hair.

Z, almost 3 is BEGINNING to understand some very SIMPLE DIRECTIONS . So it’s easier for her to join Mad and Pax.

Poor Brad. Here he is trying to get his kids into what he liked as a kid, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Brad’s all enthusiastic, and Mad says “That’s weird!” LOL. Oh Brad it just gets worse, wait until you have 4 or more teenagers at the same time.

Brad just lights up when he talks about his family. He is so happy.

I am so happy with ET stepping up to the plate. It’s time for others to do so. The near riot in NOLA yesterday was all about the lack of housing. This situation is just a shame 2+ years after Katrina.

A third of comments directed directly against her efforts

Many of the comments revolved around her reply to a letter from Japanese Fishing Agency.

Hayden is an official spokesperson for The Whaleman Foundation ( founded in march 1995) and
the Save the Whales Again! Campaign.
She has been a member of the Foundation for the past 2 years.
The Whaleman Foundation works collectively with other likeminded organizations
including Surfers for Cetaceans and the Animal Welfare Institute,
Their efforts are supported by for example Greenpeace, WWF and others.
She did not pen the words herself. Her name was used as the official spokesperson.
The letter was composed by others who are very very very angry at the attitude of the Japanese. and what they see as their contempt for the whales, dolphins, and the people that support them.
The animal rights group PETA is sending her a Compassionate Citizen award for her incredible bravery and her dedication to helping animals in need.

There seams to have been criticism that she is not helping chickens and cows. For those that are concerned with this issue please accept that one person cannot support every cause. You must stand up and be counted your concern for their welfare cant stop on these pages. Act positively yourselves.

Publicity and attention seeking is another point many raised. She only did it for the Publicity and attention

For some, if there are no red bows in the moisturized hair that mother is a bad mother.

For others, if the hair is moisturized..bow or not…big deal. As long as the child is well-fed and taken care off that is fine. After all, what good does a red bow do when the child is malnourished.

Actually, there is a bit of racism or an “us” verses “them” mentality going on here. For some, a white woman does not know how to take care of black hair. For others, that is not true because even some balck women do not know how to take care of black hair.

I can understand your confusion. You have to understand black history and culture in America. It goes back to slavery days and the idea that anything black was inferior, and black hair is “bad hair”. It’s taken ages for this notion to be discredited, and a lot of people still hold onto it. As far as I’m concerned, “bad hair” is hair that won’t stay on your head. By the time some black women have been over-perming and over-processing their hair for decades, that’s exactly what happens to their hair. It gets brittle from all that damage they do to it, dries up and breaks off. Z has lovely curly hair and Angelina knows exactly what to do with it — keep it clean and shiny and let it alone.

While perusing Buang ka, hehe’s posting, I realize she is one of the subjects that managed to escape care. In fact, in her last set of photographs taken at the center, her hair is long, straight, black and super shinny. What a lovely and happy creature she was:

Given her current antics and harangue, most likely caused by a DNA sequence that does not code for an amino acid and is not transcribed with sense, she would benefit from quarantine and close genetic testing. To reiterate, in-breeding is not sound.

I will return as soon as possible with a plan of action to return the subject to the center, now that her whereabouts have been identified.

All these comments about Shiloh. Has anyone considered that Angie indeed knows about the massive and unhealthy interest in her child. How anyone on these boards can possibly relate to that is beyond my understanding. We can only imagine, and I imagine in her place I’d be a nervous wreck!

Zee’s hair looks fine. Love the video of Angie and Brad with kids on bike and shopping and walking hand in hand and all wrapped up in each other. They are such a cute family.
Angie does not take Shi out due to her having the young kids and having Shi with her and the papz out would be too much. If the papz weren’t so invasive they would prob take her out more. But they tend to focus on her more then the other kids.

Were all 4 kids on the bike ride? Was Shiloh in the seat behind Brad and Pax in the buggy with Maddox.?

I agree. I think she might be a little overprotective of Shiloh at the moment. They are all equally their kids but I think another bio kid might take the pressure off of shiloh. sad. People don’t look at the adopted kids as really being theirs or something. IDK

If you talk to people who lived in the Lower Ninth before Katrina, very few of them think those rundown, crime-ridden projects were worth saving. They are glad to see them go. What they are upset about is that no new affordable housing is being built to take their places. Everything being built in NOLA now is co-ops and condos for the middle class and upper class. It looks like a conscious effort is being made to keep the poor people out. And since most of the poor in NOLA before Katrina were non-white, the racial overtones seem staringly obvious.

In many cities, the older more run down areas of town become valuable because they are also closer to the heart of town then the far flung suburbs. Many YUPPIES and DINKIES seek them out and gentrify them.

I’ve visited NO only once for a few days and hung around the French quarter and made some trips to the swamps. But would I be correct to say that the 9th ward is close to the heart of NO (assuming there is a city centre)? So, might the 9th ward area have been due for gentification had NO’s economy been better? But perhaps it would have been difficult to get families who have lived there for generations to leave but thanks to Katrina what better way is there to get the prime real estate for cheap if the original families give up on coming back. Hmmmm??

All I can say is, looking at NO since Katrina as a 3rd world city seems to explain a lot of stuff. It would be interesting if I had to time to check up the statistics – in terms of dollar purchasing power parity, health care and education and see the similarities between Bangkok or Jakarta and New Orleans.

I can understand your confusion. You have to understand black history and culture in America. It goes back to slavery days and the idea that anything black was inferior, and black hair is “bad hair”. It’s taken ages for this notion to be discredited, and a lot of people still hold onto it. As far as I’m concerned, “bad hair” is hair that won’t stay on your head. By the time some black women have been over-perming and over-processing their hair for decades, that’s exactly what happens to their hair. It gets brittle from all that damage they do to it, dries up and breaks off. Z has lovely curly hair and Angelina knows exactly what to do with it — keep it clean and shiny and let it alone.

Z, almost 3 is BEGINNING to understand some very SIMPLE DIRECTIONS . So it’s easier for her to join Mad and Pax.

Shi, not even 19 months , is NOT ready to follow any simple instruction and will REQUIRE 100% attention from either parent if she is taken outside the house.

Hah, I’m betting all you trolls have “Parent of the Year” awards, right? NOT! And do you know how I know? Because while y’all are wasting your time on the computer, criticizing the way Angie does Zee’s hair or fretting about why she doesn’t have Shiloh with her, your kids are God-knows-where doing God-knows-what because you’re too busy obsessing over a family you don’t like to be a parent to your own damn kids.

And for the record, if any of you had four kids under the age of 7, I doubt you’d take ALL of them with you everywhere you go. Especially if one of them was a BABY who needs all the attention because she’s too young to follow directions. And honestly, keeping Zee’s hair natural isn’t hurting her. She’s obviously a happy, healthy child, so WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?!

Oh heavens, I hope not. There is nothing worse than a new born-again Christian who has just seen the light. A former friend saw the light and tried to convert me.
