Wow….2 new threads from the last time I was here. Seriously, the JPs sure know how to take hallmark worthy pictures. Like the Fallingwater pix with BP and AJ…this pictures look like they should be an ad for Family and every good thing that goes with it.

9. “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” (Warner Bros. Pictures)

At the end of Andrew Dominik’s hauntingly poetic drama, Robert Ford (Casey Affleck) relaxes on a Colorado hilltop alongside an inquisitive female admirer (Zooey Deschanel). Infamous at the age of 20 for murdering the legendary outlaw Jesse James (Brad Pitt), a man he idolized since he was a child, Ford inexplicably was labeled a murderer and coward by an unforgiving public for his actions. And in this quiet scene, Ford explains his heartache to this caring woman with a painfully forced smile and the praise that never came with the simple line, “I was expecting applause.” It is a seminal moment in a stunning character arc masterfully delivered by Affleck. In the breakout performance of his career, he transforms a naïve young man who became a boastful braggart into a figure unfairly prejudiced and victimized by almost the entire country. It is a scenario that has modern day parallels to our culture’s need to cyclically destroy its own popular figures, the irony of which is that Affleck’s brother Ben is a textbook example.

Although ignored by the public and misunderstood by many critics, “Assassination” is still a film that will be studied in cinema history classes for years because of Affleck’s work alone, but it is Pitt’s revelatory portrayal of James, an aging bank robber coming to terms with his own mortality and a changing world that serves as a perfect bookend to Ford’s actions. Nick Cage is doing what he does best and that is entertain — most people go to movies to be entertained. That’s why the more exiting and upbeat movies are taking the BO and the too serious artsy fartsy movies are dead out of the box.

LOL! Well…to each his own. Nick Cage was great in bunch of “quirky” roles. He’s half off his nut himself, so he could slide into so many of those characters with ease, but at the same time not typecast himself as an “action movie” actor. Don’t you miss seeing NC in things like “Leaving Las Vegas”, “Adaptation”, “Birdy”, “Moonstruck”, or the brilliant “Raising Arizona”? Heck, even the action movie “Face/Off” was kind of quirky. He and Travolta had a great time playing off each other without going over the top, which is a major achievement for BOTH of them.

I just feel like Nick Cage is a much better actor than the movies he’s been making. Yeah, BO hits are great and all that stuff, but he’s so much more talented than throw-away one-liners and corny jokes will ever show. I really thought he was going to be a lot like Nicholson - able to switch between mainstream and arthouse and not sacrifice one for the other.

Okay PT…calm the #$@@ down. Denzel may not be building homes in NOLA, but he is making sure HBCU’s are being funded. Education is also a topic we should be discussing in the upcoming election. DW just donated 1M to Wiley College (I believe that’s the college w/ reference to his movie Great Debaters) towards their debate team and to get it back up and running.

I know about Denzel’s donation to the debaters program and Denzel has done a lot of charity work in the past. I am NOT slamming him for his efforts. He has his own set of priorities and preferences and that’s cool. It’s just that I don’t think peole like Russell Simmons should doubt the ability of the MIR project to make good on it’s promises when they’re not doing anything on a similar scale.

It’s like Brad & Angie said - it’s not just housing that needs to be addressed in NO. But, don’t criticize other people’s efforts on one front if you’re not doing anything at all. And the truth is, you don’t see a lot of black celebrities going into these areas of NO now and working at a grassroots level to help get things moved forward for people. I just think they have a responsibility to give back to the people helping fund their lavish lifestyles or see them as a hero. I’m talking across the board here - sports as well as music. They’re not as visible as they were in the beginning when the hurricane first happened and I think they need to be vocal in order for these people to get the attention they deserve.

ROTFLMAO! Okay…funniest post of the day.

Since when has it been a crime for kids to share clothes? Listen - when you’ve got that many kids, I don’t care how rich you are, you don’t throw away perfectly good clothes when they’ve been outgrown. I have 3 sisters…and believe me, when my oldest sister outgrew something…the next sister down got that damned dress or shirt and so on and so on. My younger sister probably had no idea that people could own new clothes until she was in her teens and grew taller than me. Then guess who got the hand-me-downs…

Can somebody just tell me why brad always looks so fawking bummy?
