OlderKristin Kreuk is Chun-Li
Smallville star Kristin Kreuk, aka Lana Lang, has been cast in the upcoming live-action film Street Fighter movie as Chun-Li
According to Comingsoon.net, Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li starts filming in Thailand in March 2008.
LatinoReview got their paws on an early version of the script. Here are some spoiler-rific bits:
– The new flick centers on one character: Chun-Li. That’s it. No Ryu, no Ken, no Guile, no eight million characters.
– Chun-Li’s mother dies and now she has no one. She searches out a man called Gen and it is he who tells her that her father is actually still alive in the hands of Bison. Chun-Li then trains with Gen. She becomes faster! Stronger! She is…THE STREET FIGHTER!
– The movie is a revenge flick plain and simple. There’s some awesome kung-fu action in the script but there’s no fireballs. No sonic booms. No flash kicks. Pure and simple Chun-Li is on a mission to find her father and take down Bison.
Here’s to hoping they use the same costume!

Well I must say I’d rather have this re-made rather than Dragonball. Plus it was already a live action movie

cool. i always loved playing chun-li when I was little. I thought it was going to be a streetfighter movie, now that would be cool. I commend them for just wanting to make a movie about a female action hero but I don’t think they usually do well by themselves.

first - let me start off by saying kristin kreuk’s one of the hottest bishes breathing. but another street fighter movie? c’mon… seriously? and out of all the characters they could have focused on - chun-li? lmaoo she’s the worst of them all.

Hey, at least Kristin is half Chinese (the other half is Dutch). She does have a martial arts background and I think this is right up her alley. I would be so excited if this rumor were true!

Sounds ok but they should rename the movie to Chun Li or something like that. If they make a Street Fighter movie, they need Ryu and Ken because they are the main characters.

As lame as the idea is, I don’t know, it could work I guess. We’ve already seen a preview of what it would be like in that one episode of Smallville - something about being possessed by an evil French witch, going to China to get some freaking stone, kicking Clark’s ass Matrix style in an ethnic costume - and it’s about the only episode where she showed some range in the emotions department.
I don’t dig the cinnamon rolls on her though.
She doesn’t have the body to match Chun Li.

Terrible casting. Are you kidding me? She’s awful enough as Lana on Smallville, must we really subject viewers to her poor performance in this? She can’t act and can’t fight to save her life. Waste of money.

The previous film sucked and I was so disappointed because the characters merely became caricatures. Here’s to hoping this one doesn’t turn out like that.
