‘The Duchess’ Trailer
The Duchess trailer is up!
Keira Knightley plays Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire, a controversial real-life figure from the 18th century. She has an affair with Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey (Dominic Cooper).
“You can’t ask me to battle nature and my own heart!” Keira exclaims in the trailer. And yes, ladies, there’s a shirtless scene of Dominic making out with Keira!
Pictures of Keira and Dominic filming on the set of The Duchess can be found here, here and here.

She *does* look like Elizabeth Swann.
She needs to back away from the period pieces. I’ve heard her mentioned for basically every period piece from the last four years but not a single modern film. Typecast, totally.
If I see her in another p.p. as an unusually modern heroine, I’m going to be sick. It’s boring.
As for the film itself? It’s not showing us anything we haven’t seen in virtually every other p.p. ever made. Probably going to be dull.
LOVE HER

This could have been a good film but even from the trailer I get the impression it will be pretty stupid in places. I know one of the historians who advised on the film and seems they didn’t take her advice much, Kierra isn’t even walking like a duchess just slouching along into the hall like she’s bored with it all…and pouting again. I don’t really think she’s that brill an actress but the costumes and sets seem amazing…that might be enough to make me watch it. I agree with Jon above, she keeps playing these women who are weirdly modern.
She looks just like elizabeth swan in this. I just hope it won’t be as awful as Pride and Prejudice, great book but the film was horrible.
in this pic keira looks like helena bonham carter
i actually have really high hopes for this one. ralph fiennes tends to pick pretty good movies and the storyline is really fascinating.
plus, it’s being put out by paramount vantage, who gave us some of last year’s best movies (No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Into the Wild, The Kite Runner), so there’s a good chance that this one will be a hit rather than a miss.
