I understand the people of New Orleans have become rather protective of Brad and Angie and the kids, to the point of throwing soda and other stuff all over the papz when they start pestering them. I say good for them.

Grow up — one person said they threw a cup of something at a pap - didn’t even mention if the Pitts were there or anywhere near. When they are recognized on the street people go nuts same as anywhere. Just seems they are able to get around the back streets easier - less people around.

I pop in and out when I have the time and it suits me - if there are some peeps that I get to chatting with, great, but if not it doesn’t affect my day because, unlike you, I have AN ACTUAL LIFE IN THE REAL WORLD to enjoy! Pitt’s New Orleans plan deserves praise

More than two years after Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans, tourists can still drive by devastated areas and witness the destruction as if it had just happened.

Federal money is trickling in at a slow rate and critics have assailed the government’s response, estimating that just $35 billion was earmarked for long-term rebuilding. Residents in the city’s poorer neighborhoods like the Lower 9th Ward have struggled to navigate HUD and FEMA bureaucratic waters.

Worse yet, some of the federally bankrolled projects had little oversight, leading to charges of fraud and mismanagement.

There are some heart-warming stories emerging from the morass. Movie star Brad Pitt is flexing his humanitarian muscles in a noble effort to do what the federal government should do — resurrect New Orleans from the rubble.

“It’s going to take a long time to address the issues here, but this is a viable, viable start,” said Pitt, who calls his project Make it Right.

Pitt plans to rebuild 150 homes in the Lower 9th Ward, where less than 10 percent of the population has returned since the hurricane. He’s committing $5 million to the rebuilding and placed his lucrative film career on hold and moved to New Orleans to lead his recovery project.

Besides the financial backing, Pitt has talked with

residents as they described their needs.

Pitt’s houses are eye-catching and unique and will make a substantial contribution to the community. More important, they’re affordable and environmentally friendly.

Brad Pitt is using his wealth and celebrity status to shine a spotlight where it’s needed. Perhaps the federal government should take notes.

Fans having fun with fans is more fun. Ignore hateful comments. Fans here are far more witty and funny all by themselves. It makes the site more enjoyable.
