Scottish hunk Gerard Butler rings in the new year with a middle finger salute, partying in Miami’s South Beach on Monday night.
Gerard’s next film, Nim’s Island, is set for an April 4, 2008 release. Nim (Abigail Breslin) is a young girl who imagines an island to be magical, basing its mystic nature on the experiences of her favorite fictional character, Alex Rover (Butler). When Nim’s father goes missing on the island, Nim teams up with Alexandra (Jodie Foster), the author of the Alex Rover books and Rover himself.

#3 Why do you say that? Because you personally never heard of him? Actually he’s the star of “300″ one of 2007’s most successful films. A movie I feel is a bit overrated but he was good in it. Personally I think its cool he has the chutzpah to make his attitude towards the paps well know from the get-go, as opposed to plastering a fake smile on his face. Granted it’s not the classiest move but then neither are the people he’s targeting.

He looks like he is drunk. Yeah, he was the king guy in 300, but it was the movie that was a hit. I never heard no one say it was bcz of him. It was the story, and all the art and special effects like you never saw before. That is why 300 was so good. He just played a role. There were other actors who were good in it, too. Maybe even better than him. I checked him out and he did a movie with Pierce Brosnan that went straight to video, and he was in the new Hilary Swank movie, except no one even talks about his character except to say he was there. LOL!!! So as far as I’m concerned, he is only C-list…if that. He is probably haqppy to be getting paid. But he seems like he is arrogant. And he has nothing to get arrogant about.

I don’t know Anon, Gerard WAS King Leonidas. He became Leonidas. He made you want to follow him into battle. I don’t know any actors who could have pulled what Gerard did. 300 would have had a different effect with anyone lesser in strength and appearance.

Most of the reviews on PS I Love You have been kind to Butler, if not the movie, so that is a bunch of crap! Butler’s performance was not what sent the other movie straight to DVD.
Giving someone the finger is perhaps not the classiest thing to do, but he owes his fans a good performance and that’s it….also period!

Who know, maybe one of the photogs made an insulting comment about his his new film PS I Love You, which the critics hate, but audiences love.

Why would a person go to a place where it is known that paparazzi would be hanging around trying to get pictures of guests and then flip them off? This is the public image he must want to convey.

I just checked out the other photos/articles of Gerard Butler on Just Jared & you can see he has been decent to the paparazzi - not one finger picture in any of them. This has not been his pattern. Cut the guy a break. He just looks mad as hell. So I can’t help wonder what was said to garner that response.
This is not the first instance where he as flipped the bird. He did it more than once during his press junket for 300, and not just to the razzis.

Who knows exactly what went on with these pictures. But the point is that the razzi don’t have a “public” so they just behave how they want to get a picture. I know enough about Gerry to believe the press that he’s stopped drinking - me too - and I go anywhere anyone else goes - don’t have to stay away from clubs. He’s hot and he’s on the prowl - duh. I just think he’s smarter than he appears in these photos. For your information, he quit the smokes months ago. And PSILY opened the same day with other big box office movies, so its understandable that it wouldn’t top the charts. And considering that its a romantic comedy, its not going to appeal to just about everyone. And yet, the movie is still holding strong and has had dramatic increase in sales within the past weeks.

Take a look a Johnny Depp’s - highly reviewed and nominated film Sweeney Todd movie’s box office –as of Jan 1 it was only $30,609,858.
Sweeney Todd opened with over 9.5 million to PSILY 6.4 million. Sweeney Todd Box office numbers have decreased during this same time period while PSILY #’s have increased even without the critics & nominations to bring in the audience to 27,901,562.
I guess you need to say Johnny Depp is not such a hot shot actor since he can’t kept the audience coming in to see Sweeney Todd and that would be just ridiculous.

Gerard Butler is one of the hottest stars in Hollywood since 300, this according to numerous popular magazines. He has established his position as a male lead with excellent performances and has an enormous fan base, which explaines the razzi’s interest in him.
It does not take a stalker with no life to know that Gerard is quite open about his past with alchohol and the fact that he has been dry for over 10 years. He also recently stated that he had quit smoking shortly after filming ‘PS I Love You’ because playing a man who dies so unexpectedly had quite an effect on him. He felt it was important to take better care of himself.
For those who have accused him of drunkeness, well your eyes must come equiped with breathalizers if you can look at those photos and determine him drunk . Is it possible he was tired? I am also a non-drinker and know that going out with my friends is reason enough to go to a club. And where does the smoking enter the picture, because there is ciggy butt on the ground? Have you ever walked past one?
The “finger” is not the most tactful of gestures, to be sure. I personally find it unappealing, however I know that it can also be used in jest, as Gerard has been known to do on other occasions.
This really boils down to a man who is known for being exceptional to his fans, generous with charities, kind to his co-workers and a squared away individual who is still single and enjoys a healthy social life, going out one night and gesturing the razzi for reasons we cannot fully know.
Was it his best move? Maybe not, but for a man who has done an aweful lot to earn respect, I hardly think it equates to reason for harsh judgment.
Something else being reported, Gerard has suffered from back to back chest infections, while filming GAME in New Mexico. Give the guy a break!

Gerard is directly involved with many of the charities he supports. Are you aware that he called a young boy who was dying of cancer, and spoke to him on the phone for 20 minutes. The boy died 2 hours later, and claimed that Leonidas was his hero. Gerard has done many things to help others. Do not judge the man’s character by a few photos. Anyone who wants to know what kind of man he really is, will discover that he’s a hard working actor who is greatly respected by his peers and fellow actors.

What I cannot understand is why his flicking “the bird” is such a HUGE deal? Has no one else on this board ever done that before? Point of clarification about Gerry’s reputation for *****************: I have seen only one other picture of him doing it. I was sitting 15 feet in front of him at WonderCon when at a panel discussion a question was posed having to do with contemporary political implications of the movie 300.
Zack Snyder fielded the question though it might have been asked of Gerry - but to my recollection, that is when he flipped the guy off - of course cameras caught the gesture…we just laughed about it - so did he.
The current incident at this one at WonderCon should not constitute a reputation for flipping people off…let’s keep it real. And Gerry - keep your hands in your pockets when you’re around the razzi - OK??
He called a dying child and it was reported by him. Not for the kindess of the act only, but for the press it brought to him. Why didn’t he just keep the good-hearted moment to himself?

WRONG! Gerard did not report his kind act to the child with cancer. The man in charge of Kids Kicking Cancer quietly sent a letter to one of Mr Butler’s fansites, to let them know about the event. It was NEVER reported in any article or news story.

As Colin no doubt knows, Gerard’s family lives in Scotland where he spent the holidays. Jet lag and airline travel could easily account for the broken blood vessel in his eye and appearant fatigue.

There is no sweeping going on here. If you understood the written word you would understand that there are a multitude of reasons for everything. Unless you are following him around 24/7 there is no one that know for sure anything about him. I am simply saying, why is it that everyone finds it so easy to just accept the worst about people? No one really gets kicked off at the site and even more to disturb you is that I’m one of the Forum Moderators for that site. You may not understand the language in the forum I monitor-but its clear that even a ‘TART’ or ‘FAN’ of Gerard can spot a mile a way that his bad behavior has turned for the worse where he things just giving someone the finger will make others want to runaway.
You can be a fan or Tart of his and not be able to turn a glimpse of reality that you can bad mouth ones behavior when its bad.
