Scottish hunk Gerard Butler rings in the new year with a middle finger salute, partying in Miami’s South Beach on Monday night.
Gerard’s next film, Nim’s Island, is set for an April 4, 2008 release. Nim (Abigail Breslin) is a young girl who imagines an island to be magical, basing its mystic nature on the experiences of her favorite fictional character, Alex Rover (Butler). When Nim’s father goes missing on the island, Nim teams up with Alexandra (Jodie Foster), the author of the Alex Rover books and Rover himself.

If he’s such a big shot in the Hot actor Field that should have been the total from the first weekend–not just the entire time since the 21 of Dec.
#91 As far as the Box office for PSILY being pretty lame.
Take a look a Johnny Depp’s - highly reviewed and nominated film Sweeney Todd movie’s box office –as of Jan 1 it was only $30,609,858.
Sweeney Todd opened with over 9.5 million to PSILY 6.4 million. Sweeney Todd Box office numbers have decreased during this same time period while PSILY #’s have increased even without the critics & nominations to bring in the audience to 27,901,562.
I guess you need to say Johnny Depp is not such a hot shot actor since he can’t kept the audience coming in to see Sweeney Todd and that would be just ridiculous.
Give Butler a break he has a fan base - and it is not only because he is hot looking - he is a very talented actor and he is just getting started. And, you don’t have to go to any of his movies if you don’t like him that’s your right.

O, that what he does here is really immature. So he has the comments he deserved. I have a lot of warm feelings toward Gerard, but I hate him that way.
That what really pisses me off are his brainless fans who don’t want to see that something wrong is happening with him. Come on, he looks intoxicated. His face is swollen, his eyes are bloodshot. He’s an alcoholic. Now, do your math, people and stop repeating how wonderful he is. Because now he is not wonderful. He’s deep in ****.
You put Gerard and Johnny in a room and ask a group of 100 girls whose who and I bet because Johnny has been in the industry much longer that Gerard that they would know him.

He needs to take a break-go on vacation-get back to Reality. He’s just another actor who is passing on his looks and backed by crazed fans.

Gerard Butler is one of the hottest stars in Hollywood since 300, this according to numerous popular magazines. He has established his position as a male lead with excellent performances and has an enormous fan base, which explaines the razzi’s interest in him.
It does not take a stalker with no life to know that Gerard is quite open about his past with alchohol and the fact that he has been dry for over 10 years. He also recently stated that he had quit smoking shortly after filming ‘PS I Love You’ because playing a man who dies so unexpectedly had quite an effect on him. He felt it was important to take better care of himself.
For those who have accused him of drunkeness, well your eyes must come equiped with breathalizers if you can look at those photos and determine him drunk . Is it possible he was tired? I am also a non-drinker and know that going out with my friends is reason enough to go to a club. And where does the smoking enter the picture, because there is ciggy butt on the ground? Have you ever walked past one?
The “finger” is not the most tactful of gestures, to be sure. I personally find it unappealing, however I know that it can also be used in jest, as Gerard has been known to do on other occasions.
This really boils down to a man who is known for being exceptional to his fans, generous with charities, kind to his co-workers and a squared away individual who is still single and enjoys a healthy social life, going out one night and gesturing the razzi for reasons we cannot fully know.
Was it his best move? Maybe not, but for a man who has done an aweful lot to earn respect, I hardly think it equates to reason for harsh judgment.
Something else being reported, Gerard has suffered from back to back chest infections, while filming GAME in New Mexico. Give the guy a break!
Gerard is wonderful and talented actor. 99% of the time he laughs and jokes around with the papparazzi; I’ve seen the videos of it.
Like Suz said earlier the papparazzi don’t have anyone taking pictures of what they are doing. It’s obvious something happened here, but geez don’t we all have our bad days. Give the guy a break.
OH! Give the guy a break? If he’s not drunk, but tired then maybe he should have stayed home with his dog instead of some date.
Also his “Charity” work is do to all his cult-like fans who pay collect the money to keep his website open, who pay for the planting of the trees, who collect for the kids with Cancer. He does nothing, but pick the charity to be on his behalf. Just check out e-bay for all the ‘charity’ things people are chucking up there. Blankets, signed stuff, ect.
Hey a talented actor, sexy on the eyes, and has an accent…..now that he has the finger trick (done several times-some without involving paparazzi) down we can now graduate him to the Colin Farrell School of Acting.
His campaign for the trees, cancer charities, his pup… boy Colin, you sure have this man’s info down pat for someone who is not a fan.

Gerard is directly involved with many of the charities he supports. Are you aware that he called a young boy who was dying of cancer, and spoke to him on the phone for 20 minutes. The boy died 2 hours later, and claimed that Leonidas was his hero. Gerard has done many things to help others. Do not judge the man’s character by a few photos. Anyone who wants to know what kind of man he really is, will discover that he’s a hard working actor who is greatly respected by his peers and fellow actors.

What I cannot understand is why his flicking “the bird” is such a HUGE deal? Has no one else on this board ever done that before? I for one have done it before - not my proudest moment - but it didn’t stop me from doing it again…you know those moments of anger where you need/want to do something - so you give someone the finger! It’s better than turning violent!
I understand that celebrities should expect to give up a certain amount of their privacy when they enter into this profession but haven’t we invaded their personal space a bit too much now?
Point of clarification about Gerry’s reputation for *****************: I have seen only one other picture of him doing it. I was sitting 15 feet in front of him at WonderCon when at a panel discussion a question was posed having to do with contemporary political implications of the movie 300.
Zack Snyder fielded the question though it might have been asked of Gerry - but to my recollection, that is when he flipped the guy off - of course cameras caught the gesture…we just laughed about it - so did he.
The current incident at this one at WonderCon should not constitute a reputation for flipping people off…let’s keep it real. And Gerry - keep your hands in your pockets when you’re around the razzi - OK??
He called a dying child and it was reported by him. Not for the kindess of the act only, but for the press it brought to him. Why didn’t he just keep the good-hearted moment to himself?

Why am I here? I’m here to comment of this dummy who gave the finger to the camera. This is will do wonders for his career when it comes to these ‘heartfelt’ and ‘kid friendly’ related movies he’s has out.
WRONG! Gerard did not report his kind act to the child with cancer. The man in charge of Kids Kicking Cancer quietly sent a letter to one of Mr Butler’s fansites, to let them know about the event. It was NEVER reported in any article or news story.
Yes Tom - it was Rabbi Elemich Goldberg, Founder and National Director of Kids Kicking Cancer - not Gerry. He has never spoken of it.
Tom, get real man. I love that guy but come on… . His eyes are visibly bloodshot. Do you see these broken veins in his right eye? Do you see his bloated face and puffy eyes? What kind of exhausting work he was doing a day before to look that bad?

Witch, I share your concern and did see his very bad right eye. But upon enlarging the photo I did notice that it was only in one eye and not in both. Possibly some kind of injury? When I’m ****faced BOTH my eyes look bloodshot. He looked to me light he just got off a plane - no he didn’t look good - but I like rough LOL
Suz, he has been wearing that bloated face and puffy eyes for months. I know something wrong has been happening with him. And, as he is alcoholic I can’t exclude the possibility that he has started to drink, no matter how much I want it to be untrue.

Colin…I am NOT asking why you are here but HOW it is that you know every detail about Gererd (however slanted )? Your information cant be gathered by a simple check of his websites, you seem far too aware of his every move. Are you sure you are not a stalker? Have you been looking jealously over your wife’s shoulder?
As Colin no doubt knows, Gerard’s family lives in Scotland where he spent the holidays. Jet lag and airline travel could easily account for the broken blood vessel in his eye and appearant fatigue.
Those bloodshot eyes could mean steriod use too, along with the puffy face. I hope not but he did bulk up very fast for 300 and now for Game. It’s wonderful the work that Gerry’s fans do in his name for his charities. Gerry can barely say thank you for the thousands of dollors raised in his name.

Drunk or not Drunk-that is not the question. Jet lag or no jet lag is still not the question. We don’t have to ask why he gave the finger–just comment on the person behind the finger gesture. Is this role model to our youngsters?

I happen to be a tart, or a Gerard Butler fan. Which doesn’t mean I only pay attention to the looks and accent. I’m not that superficial.
He can act, he’s great at it actually. But that doens’t mean that I love everything he does….wether it’s in his acting or in real life.
Let’s just be realistic here…People….He’s only human….

When has Gerry EVER said he wanted to be a role model for ANYONE! He is a man that is living HIS life and no one else’s it is plain and simple.
I highly doubt that his flipping off someone would come as a surprise to his mother. She knows exactly who he is and loves him dearly no matter what. He is the first to admit his faults for crying out loud. Give the guy a break and the rest of us.

Pukkie I agree with you, you can’t base a persons character on a couple of pictures when we have no idea what was happening at the time.
Yes he has been sick lately, whose to say that the medication he has needed hasn’t had adverse side effects? No one knows for sure and it is just plain rude to speculate the worst about a person no matter who they are.
Gerry is a contradiction in all he does and he would be the first to admit that as well. He works hard at what he does giving it his all.
True fans don’t blindly sweep things under the carpet, never have never will, but they will care about him no matter what. There is nothing wrong about looking for the good in people, maybe some of the people here should try it for a change.
