Jennifer Garner is West Virginian of the Year
Jennifer Garner spends New Year’s Eve together with 2-year-old daughter Violet, walking through New York City on Monday.
Yesterday, Jen was excited to be named West Virginian of the Year (she was born in Houston but moved to Charleston when she was four).
“She’s pretty passionate about her love of West Virginia,” Jen’s mom, Pat Garner, told the Charleston Sunday Gazette-Mail. “She just considers it home.”
Jen honored “for her dedication, work ethic and unique role as role model and ambassador for West Virginia.”

Why are people thinking they’re ok? They’re barely ever together. She’s the one working and she’s up and out with Violet everyday by herself or with her assistant. Ben’s no where to be found. He went to Africa to discuss business investments in Rwanda but even before then he barely is seen with Jennifer alone or the three of them together. When he is with them he covers Violet’s face from the paps, Garner does the same and then when Ben isn’t there she’s out there yukking it up for photogs. I’m telling you right now, she’s laying the ground work so that when they do split it won’t be any shock…because folks will remember that he never did anything with them or spend time with them. She looks like h*ll too

She should be named West Virginian of the year. She fetches the hubby’s coffee while toting a kid around all while making movies and working on Broadway. And from what I understand, those West Virginians like their women barefoot, submissive and usually pregnant (maybe later on this one). She fits the mold, so yeah, I guess this does make her special and she definitely should have the title of West Virginian of 2007. Just as a sidenote, any man who would let his wife take the brunt of paparazzi hell because he “hates” them, isn’t much of a man nor is she much of a woman for putting up with that BS. She would probably kiss his ass to hang on to the louse.

She loves the attention. Even before they were in NY she’s out pimping Violet everyday for the paps and then pretending it bothers her when she’s with Affleck. ^^ Well if I recall correctly she was photographed with Scott Foley (riding their bikes) and seemed all happy and such not long before their separation was announced back on April 1, 2003. They even traveled to NYC together in February so she could appear on SNL ….by March rumors were rampant of problems. Togetherness photos mean nada in my book.

ITA.remember those last pics of BP and JA on their vacation.they were kissing and huging all the time and just two days later they anounce their seperation.so for me If Ben and Jen suddenly start to act in fron of camera and start kissing or more affectionate toward each other,it can mean something but now things are just per usualy in their 4 of their togetherness.

Jen likes to take care of violet alone. I read a Ben’s interview other day and he talk about Jen and Violet. I tried to translate a little (the interview was in portuguese), but my english is not so good. And the interview is not so new, I think it was published in may 2007.

I would believe that ben hates the paps if it was always the case that we never saw him with jen and violet. BUt thats not true there are numerous of pics of them out and about with violet from before they got to Ny. So either ben hating the paps are something new or they are having problems. I would never wish divorce on a couple that is not my reason for wondering whats going on. I just think its weird that all of a sudden he detests the paparazzi. And if jen can put aside her hate for their intrusion in her life to give violet the most normal life possible why the hell does ben get a pass. If you ask me either way he’s a ass for not caring more about his daughter than the paps.

Jen seems very happy being a mom. I hope they split before the child is old enough to know what is going on.
That would create a lot of guilt knowing you were not planned and then having a miserable father who has been forced out of his gambling/party lifestyle to ‘play married.’

She looks tired. It is not fair to her that people think Ben is this super nice husband and dad yet she carries the burden of raising their child while all along she is also the higher earner in the relationship. Ben Affleck needs to grow up. Pictures do speak volumes and from what I see, I see an irresponsible husband and an absentee dad. I don’t care what anyone else says. Jen deserves better than this looser.

Ben has more personal money than Jen, because until 2003 he was very well paid for his movies. He hates the paps while Jen is more accommodating to them. Yeah, he was really weird on LKL. Almost angry. He had a chip on his shoulder. You know they’re probably two people who were on rebound relationships who got together and then boom an unplanned pregnancy and said well, let’s go with it and try. I think the whole Victor Garber marrrying them on an island alone without anyone from their families when she was like 5/6 mos pregnant says a lot. Here’s the fall out
Energy it is obvious she is not raising the child alone. If you need “picture proof” there are some Gil has above. Ben is in NY taking care of the child and being with his wife. Also taking your child out in a stroller and to the park is not a “burden” it is fun. She has said the theater is a great job for a mom becuase she doesn’t have to be at work until 6 pm and can play with Violet until then when Ben takes over and puts her to bed. Maybe he can get work done while she is out with the baby. He is starting a new movie in early January and has said he is looking at another project to direct.
I think the woman that survived being attacked, tortured, and raped is much more deserving for Woman of the Year. The fact that she survived such an unspeakable ordeal makes her a prime candidate for such an honor. It would signal that the community also supports her during this difficult time. But I guess this is more family friendly and doesn’t bring up such nasty issues as race. Which West Virginia doesn’t want to deal with.
Man: He was on a publicity tour for his movie and probably gets sick of the same stupid questions people like Larry King ask! Still talking about JLo 4+ years after the fact? I’d hate it too. Nobody can let that stupid fling go. They were not on the rebound from other relationships. I’m not one to bash celebrities and I know fans of Garner and Affleck adore their family, but imo, I think there is definitely something not right in that relationship. People say he hates the paps, but when they first got together he had no problem being seen out and about with Garner. There must have been tons of pics of them. Are you kidding me? They were made fun of on these sites because they always (well,he especially but her too) pulled their caps over their faces and put their hands in front of their faces to ruin shots when they were first together. It was important to them to keep it private. Then I guess they just gave up, although Jenn has said its important that they aren’t seen as a celebrity couple. YOu all are nuts there are plenty of pictures of Ben with Violet just not EVERYDAY like you get with Jen. There are as many pictures of Ben with his baby girl as there are of Angie and her kids. Count em.
I guess only time will tell with Ben and Jen’s marraige. The fact is nothing would appease some of the posters here. If they come out and begin being photographed together all over the place, people will say ‘they are just trying to quell the rumors, it doesn’t mean anything’ (as someone else said, remember Brad and Jen A right before the separation announcement?) If they continue to NOT be photographed together, of course some of you will continue to say ‘oh, he is an absentee dad and husband and doesn’t want to be married’.

It’s not illogical to question what’s up with the Garner Afflecks, you never see them in the way you see other couples like Gavin and Gwen, Angelina and Brad, hell just about ever other couple and family out there.
This is a gossip blog where people well, gossip. Gossip includes speculation about marriage. I get that it offends fans, but this isn’t a fansite, it’s a gossip blog. All other couples are picked apart, and they aren’t exempt.
And the reason why they are still picked at when they are even seen together because they don’t seem to have the same chemistry as other couples. In the beginning of there relationship, they did and I even liked them as a couple, these days I’m just calling as I see it and they don’t seem kosher.

I’ll admit a couple of things: when I read that Jen was pregnant I thought it was too early in their relationship, that they should have waited a couple of years, to be more settled in their relationship, and yes, I have always wondered if she didn’t get pregnant to get Ben to marry her.

I am a brangelina fan actually. I Gavin and Gwen I like them too. Tons of other couples who aren’t high profile, Robin Thicke and Paula Patton (who’s pregnant congrats to them!). I just happen to think Garfleck sucks. They seem so passionless together and it irks me so I snark on it and they happily provide tons of material to snark on, e.g., these photos.
And I think it’s sad that he protects himself from the paps more than his own daughter. She’s the most overexposed toddler out there and IMO that’s a shame.

I’m sorry but if anyone is seeking publicity by using their kid it’s Garner. Seriously is there no way at all she can do anything with that child that does not involve going out and getting photographed? Play with her inside sometimes or something, and yes I have toddlers so I know exactly what it’s like to spend time inside with them. If she has to resort to taking that kid outside in view of the paps every single day, all day, then she probably can’t deal with her indoors, which is just sad.

She’s not the only celebrity mother you know and she’s not that famous or popular. Having Violet has made her more popular but in general her core fans are hold overs from her Alias days, for the most part, Garner would not even be topic of discussion if it wasn’t for her role as Violet’s mommy.

Sorry danae, but I have three kids 8, 6, & 4. From the time they were able to walk I practically have to hog tie them in order to keep them in the house. They love it outside!! Luckily I have a large fenced in back yard. So, you are saying because the paps follow and photograph Violet, Jen should deny her the ability to go outside and play??? I feel it is healthy for kids to get out of the house and start to see that there is a world out there beyond the four walls of their house. Also, it is NYC, it isn’t like they have a lot of options of places for an active toddler to play inside or in a yard.
The reason why Jen has to just carry on with life is she can’t let Violet see her freak out over paps when they are everywhere they go. She takes her to gym class and shopping and the park because that is what Mom’s do. If I had to give that up with my children you might as well just shoot me, that is part of the deal of having kids. How many of you who make these stupid ass comments know what that is even like?

But there are more Pictures of Shiloh, Zahara, Pax, Maddox, Suri, and Britney’s kids on the Tabloid Covers. I was standing in the check out line in Target today and counted.
Shiloh had a Tab Cover.
Brad, Maddox, Pax and Zahara had a Tab Cover.
Britney boys had their own Tab Cover.
I didn’t see a Suri Tab Cover. But I did see Katie on InStyle Magazine.
These kids are overexposed as well. This isn’t the first time all of these kids have made the Tab Covers. Next week they will be on different Tabs Covers.
Violet hasn’t been on a Tab Cover that I can remember.

Baby Doll those children you have mentioned are put on the tabloid cover using recycled pictures. You do not have a choice of whether or not your picture is put on the tabloid magazine cover unless you are Jamie Lynn spears and give an interview.
The children ypu have quoted are never seen paraded by their mothers outside everyday so please dont call their names in vain. I would think you would be smarter than mentioning them,,, since you follow tabloids am sure you read one that said “Where is Shiloh?” and her picture was on the cover. Clearly that was an invasion of a childs privacy since they do not see her paraded they decide to put her picture nyways. You can not compare that sighting to Violet whom we see everyday and night.
Dont get me started leave other children out of this. Even Britney’s kids are not seen out that much. As crazy as she is, she shields her kids from the paps and does not over expose them!!

i don’t really have anything against the couple but violet is just the cutest. she looks so happy in almost all of her photos.
Ben will be the mosted hated person in Hollywood once these two split. He already is hated because he’s made such a fool of himself in the past. The only movie offers he’ll be able to get will be Damon’s or Kevin Smith movies because they will feel sorry for his miserable ass. Movie studios will not hire him because he will be so hated that they won’t want to risk making a movie only to have it bomb because of him, they also will not be willing to give him money to direct another movie for the same reason. The dude has a lot to lose.
Jen will see the light, if she hasn’t already, public sympathy will go to her, her career will flourish, she already has laid the foundation for that. She’ll be sad and lonely for herself and her daughter but in the end she and her daughter will be better for it. #3 I hate to put two move outs back to back. But, what can I say. The holidays are big for this type of thing. This one doesn’t directly involve cheating although there has been some. It is more because of behavior. A list film/television/film couple. He will be allowed to visit on Christmas Eve and Christmas and that is it. ENERGY… I only mentioned the other celebrity babies because they are in the public eye just as much as Violet.
I don’t buy Tabloids. I don’t waste my money on them. I need my money to buy Gasoline. I get my Celeb news from Just Jared and a few other sites.
The Tabloids think it is Okay to use all those celeb kids recycled and new photos. The simple fact that each and everyone of their parent’s SOLD their Children’s photos to a Tabloid. It’s like giving the Tabs permission to use their kids photos for every ridiculous headline they can think of.
Those new Super Cute photos of Brad and Pax will be on a Cover next week.
Just because the photos are recycled doesn’t mean they aren’t exposed. Not everyone looks at Celebrity Sites. But 10 times the number of people will see these kids on Tab Covers waiting in a check out line. Just like I did. And I know some of you have seen the Dog Eared Tabs at (Barnes & Noble and Borders).
My point was that Violet is no more over-exposed then any other Celeb Kid. More people know the names of Brad/ Angelina, Tom/ Katie, and Britney’s children’s then Violet.
Ben/ Jennifer little girl is known but she doesn’t have all the hype of her parent’s life putting her on a Tab Cover. Britney is a Mess. Tom is a Super Freak, and Brad and Angelina are the Hotness Couple on the Planet. Ben is working on his career and Jen is making her way up the ladder…. They are normal.
If you don’t like Ben Affleck that is find. But, Some of you need to stop making up hate filled rumors to back up your bias towards him.

Britney Spear’s children aren’t as exposed as Violet is. That’s a lie. Violet is the most overexposed child because Jennifer Garner is an attention w*hore who wants her daughter to be famous.
Is anyone really expecting them to stay together? Really? I honestly think the only reason they even got married is because Garner got pregnant. Now of course pregnancy out of marriage is no big deal in Hollywood - but when you’re from a conservative Christian family the way Garner is, she felt like she had to get married and make it work with him. I remember back when the pregnancy rumors were first circulating around these two before they got married, there were pictures of them leaving a doctor’s office carrying what looked like envelopes with x-rays in them. She looked very happy in them, he not so much. The reason that she had had some kind of nerve injury or something came soon after to explain the pics but the pregnancy rumors were already going around. This was just a few months before the wedding/pregnancy confirmations came.
She’s had a thing for him ever since he saved her from a stunt gone bad on the Daredevil set. I don’t think she cheated on Foley with him, but I’d heard that she did cheat on Vartan with him while they were still together and that doesn’t surprise me. She got a crush on Affleck during Daredevil but neither Affleck nor she could act on it. Her marriage to Foley broke up eventually, she started dating Vartan, and once Bennifer I split up and she and Ben re-met on the Elektra set, it was only a matter of time before they got together. They got pregnant, probably felt compelled to get married, had the kid, and now they’ve hit a rough patch. I don’t expect them to make it whether there are rumors of them breaking up or not. Garner seems like the kind of person who will have a string of failed marriages.
Ben could beat her up daily and she would stick by him.

Actually, this is one of the few couples in Hollywood that I DO expect to stay together. They are one of the few out there who actively seem to be protecting their relationship and not let it be simply for the cameras. She brings her daughter with her on her day-to-day business like a normal mom. If there weren’t paps all over the place, I can guarantee she’d be living her life exactly the same way. AND she doing Broadway and night, meaning her days are probably relatively free aside from rehearsing. Ben probably works during the day as well. How many couples do you know who are together all day every day running errands and getting coffee? They seem NORMAL. Some people are just cynics - none of us know what’s going on in any of these people’s lives behind closed doors, but I have a strong feeling these three are just fine.
