Vanessa Hudgens is the cover girl for the February 2008 issue Seventeen magazine.
Here are some great snippets from the High School Musical’s revealing interview:
How are you feeling about the [nude picture] scandal? I’m much better now. But truthfully I don’t like talking about it. It was something that was meant to be private, and even though it isn’t anymore, I’d still like to keep it as private as I can. It was very traumatic, and I am extremely upset it happened. I hope all my fans can learn from my mistake and make smart decisions. But I wouldn’t have been able to get through it if it wasn’t for my family, friends, and fans, who supported me all along the way.
Who told you the photos had been leaked? I found out from my manager. We heard some story was going to break in the tabloids, and I was like, What?!? A few days later, the picture came out while I was on vacation in Australia. Thank God, I wasn’t home–it would have sucked if I was at home. So I got to be away from L.A. for about a millisecond. But when I came back, it got kind of crazy.
How did you explain the situation to your mom? I was just open with her, and she was just so cute. She was like, “Well, everyone can be naked if they want to.” [Laughs] My parents are very supportive of me. And they know I’m a teenager, and yes, kids do stupid things sometimes. It’s very unfortunate because with the Internet these days, you don’t have a personal life. Nothing is private: Everyone knows everything, and they can find out everything about you. You’re not as safe as you think you are, and you have to be aware of the people you’re around.
It’s great that Zac stood by you through all this. To you, what’s the best thing about him? He always makes me happy. He literally knows exactly what to do to make me laugh.
Do you ever think about the future with Zac? No. It’s fun having a boyfriend. He’s a friend and a cute friend who you like. It’s nice. But only time will tell. I’m still young, and I have my girlfriends and I have my family. I think that it’s definitely important to have balance. I think girls can be sucked into the relationship and give too much. They like to be so into their boyfriends, you know? And you can’t do that, because you get too infatuated–and then you lose contact with your friends. It happens to a lot of girls.

lol Tony the tiger i think they are apologizing to themselves right now because they thought she was actually famous for some other reason truth is she is only appealing to children but i don’t think troy narf all those other people are kids more like paparazzi except they are online apparntley noone has forgotten her little incident puleeze that is what all her interviews are about and she has no shame in talking about it

Tony, seventeen magazine approached the subject of the picture in a classier and less vulgar way then you did.
And even though they asked the question, she had the right not to answer it.
When celebrities are interviewed, they are given the questions beforehand and have the right to eliminate the ones they do not wish to answer.

What an amazing girl . Some of you criticize her just because you can.
Nobody knows who you are so it makes you feel better. It doesn’t
matter what she says because you will always find fault in everything
she does. But I think if you were put on trial for your mistakes, some
of you would deny it, hide from it, or lie. But this girl as hard as it was,
owned up to it and you know even with her apology this interview must
have been very hard. As far as her mother goes I’m sure she was
disappointed but when you have a child that is hurt and crushed in
public humiliation you are not going to hurt them more by making them
feel worse. That is why her Mom used humor . Sometimes that is the only
way to get through these things. Don’t be so judgemental. Karma Baby.

I agree wholeheartedly. The comment by Vanessa’s mom is very telling and goes a long way in explaining why Vanessa is so laidback with regard to the situation. I too hope that her sister and any young girls who may consider her a role model take note of her actions and make better choices for themselves.

And tony, some people are so blinded by love they really can’t see bad behavior for what it is–bad behavior–even if it is your favorite celebrity. You still need to be realistic about how young children may see young stars and if their actions are really something shameful.
i love the interview she’s honest that is why a good role model to all the young kids out there. my daughters and grand daughters love her so much and me too.
However, I think Vanessa is going about this well, but her mother’s reaction was inappropriate

Like my fellow commentor birdie said (you rock birdie), no matter how she answered the questions, people would have found fault with her.
