Jake Loves Reese… and Joan
Jake Gyllenhaal has a lunch meeting on Wednesday with one of his PR reps at one of his favorite West Hollywood eateries, the trendy Joan’s On Third.
When Jake spotted paparazzi inside the restaurant, he got up and told them all to leave. SHOO, FLY! DON’T BOTHER ME.
After finishing their meal together, Jake and his rep left in a black Mercedes.
Jake was last spotted with Reese Witherspoon and her kids, Deacon and Ava, over the holidays during a family hike in Malibu.

AC: Ennis as described in the story is closer to Ledger than Jack is to Jake. Did you ever read the story? And what praise did Proulx give to Jake? Repeat it please. She damned him with faint praise at best. The contrast is obvious; she thought Ledger was superb; she thought Jake was so-so. The change of accents in Jack (Jake) has nothing to do with Texas and Wyoming, but rather with his occasional attempts at the accent of an uneducated kid and then slipping into a Beverly Hills rich boy accent when he isn’t careful. You just didn’t notice. I suspect you are so smitten with Jake you can’t tolerate any honest criticism of him and his acting. Sad.
Let’s start a discussion for intelligent people on “resolved, Heath Ledger is a better actor than Jake G”. I will simply cite Brokeback Mountain. That says it all: the whole picture is a competition between the two and Heath wins hands down. Jake may have done more B+ acting jobs than Heath, but he never did anything A+ like Heath’s performance in Brokeback.
Like I said before Chris, Google it and you will find all you need about Annie Proulx her praise for Jake and the change in accent. I won’t do your work for you. I did read the short story many times and I have the full book “Close Range: Wyoming Stories.” The only one sad here Chris is you.

Persistent rumors that La Witherspoon and Jake will marry. She didn’t lose any time after her divorce in finding a new hubby. But with her money that would not have been very difficult. In any case, marrying her would be a smart move for him. With access to her pocketbook he won’t need to worry about any of his movies making even a dime. In fact, he could retire and spend his time in the kitchen making delicious Italian dishes, including lots of truffles. But….I just remembered, she is said to be a veggie only gal. Can a couple that don’t eat the same things stay together? This linkage, if it happens, will be interesting.
AC: I’m not sad, I’m opinionated. I know what Proulx said about Jake’s performance and it was lukewarm. You don’t know enough to have much in the way of opinions. And by the way, what does having the “book” that includes other stories of hers add to Brokeback? Is there something in the other stories that relate to Brokeback? Or are you just proud of having a WHOLE BIG BOOK to your name? As far as the change of accent goes, the story says it affected a couple of words, not his whole manner of speech. You got that very wrong.
Chris I did not find Annie Proulx comments about Jake lukewarm. Yes I do know enough to have an opinion. We will have to agree to disagree. The point of mentioning that I have the whole book is that I can reference the Brokeback Mountain short story. My point about the slight accent change was that Jake was on target according to the short story and according to the speech coach as to his accent in the movie. One might consider the slight change in twang to Jake not keeping an accent up when that slight change may make a difference. Again we will have to agree to disagree on pretty much everything. I do not wish to continue this discussion.
If Jakey does marry Reese here are the issues to consider: will they have kids? She is 31, I believe, and if she is going to have more kids she will have to do it before long. Is she willing to forgo her big salaries while she makes another brood? And if they don’t have kids, what does that say about Jakey? His masculinity might be in doubt. Maybe he can’t have kids. Maybe that is why he married Reese and got some already manufactured kids, by another more masculine guy. If there is a marriage, it is going to be VERY interesting to see what happens.

JJ is behind things. He should be telling us for sure whether Jakey will marry Reese or not. Is there anything more important to know in the world than that? LOL. If he marries Reese he’ll be on the spot. Can he replicate or can he not? And if he can’t, why can’t he?
Of course Jakey doesn’t really need to MARRY Reese to replicate with her. After all his sister replicated without getting married. Maybe Jakey will follow. He ought to be replicating pretty soon or people will begin to wonder why he isn’t.

Well he’d better get cracking. If Ryan Phillipe and Casey Afflicted can make kids at their age, what is Jakey waiting for? I begin to have suspicions that he can’t make ‘em, and will have to adopt them or marry them. Reese would be a way to do that.

Jakey seems to be in hiding. At least JJ hasn’t been able to spot him anywhere for ages. Maybe he is having a honeymoon already with La Witherspoon. Who could know?
