Nikki Blonsky’s Star Keeps on Rising
Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky is nearly speechless as she accepts the Rising Star Award at the 2008 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Saturday in Palm Springs, Calif.
She was hoping and preparing for a last-minute resolution that would permit actors to attend the Golden Globes.
“A girl’s gotta cover her back and have a dress, just in case,” she said.
The 19-year-old actress along with the rest of the Hairspray cast picked up the festival’s Ensemble Performance Award. Congrats to everyone!
Into the Wild actor Emile Hirsch also picked up the other Rising Star Award.

It’s sad, they did not get enough pictures of Nikki last night!!!
She admits she is disappointed the bionic woman has not return to TV. However she’s determined not to let this get in her way of her career.
Sources close to her have said there is rumor he is secretly seeking therapy but nothing has been confirmed. :)

Congratulations to Nikki; she totally deserves that award!! It was a role of a lifetime for her! Hairspray has quickly become one of my all-time favorite musicals, and this version was nicely done!
I still find it interesting that some of the fans here, who protest haters, are the same ones who hit the Vanessa/Zanessa threads and post their “I hate Vanessa, I love Zikki” comments, or say other unflattering things. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black. Why don’t you practice what you preach? If you can’t be nice, then don’t post there at all. A lot of us Vanessa fans DO like Nikki and say so!

I like her spunk… she is funny and has a great personality.
I am so happy for Nikki! This is only the beginning of where this girl is going! Great things come in little packages and this stands true for her! She’s an incredible woman that has a great career ahead of her. I am so glad that finally we are getting woman in Hollywood that we can look up to.

I don’t buy this whole culture of stick thin bimbos but why are you people applauding this sick woman, she is sick because look at how fat she is and its not a case of her being bigger than average, she’s obese and probably well on her way to a heart attack. Sara Rue was healthy big but this is disgusting…anyways I wish her all the best!!!

Um, no. “So talented” because she has completed two feature films, a TV movie, done a concert, and is working on an album. Hardly a minuscule career even at this point.
