Roseanne Barr Hates Oprah
Actress/comedian Roseanne Barr has made some wild accusations in her latest blog about talk show host Oprah Winfrey and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. Here’s a summary of what she said (with spelling and grammar fixed):
– Barack is an empty suit selling “hope” in lieu of Truth
– Oprah helped to elect Arnold Schwarzenegger. I have no doubt that she voted her purse by doing this, as she is a large land owner in California, and that ilk fears Dems because they do not want to pay their “fair share” of Cali tax.
– Oprah has given us Dr. Phil. If that was not offensive enough to decent thinking people, now she brings us Obama. He has no ideas, no plan and nothing to add other than the cynical pacification of the masses with bedtime stories about hope.
– Oprah, you play the race card and the gender card too. You are a closeted republican and chose Barack because you do not like other women who actually stand for something to working American Women besides glamour, angels, Hollywood and dieting!
– It is historical that Oprah, beloved of women, chooses a flashy man with small credentials over a seasoned woman politician with 35 years of experience…and sells that to the female demographic who look to her for inspiration!
OUCH!!!!!

Hi Orchid,
I’m glad we have this private thread to ourselves.
“What exactly is going on with cook and Felinelilly? I haven’t read all their back-and-forth but I’m guessing they’re getting very chummy!”
at first you probably noticed cook was flirting with any poster who responded to his ego, which we all do…I’m not outing him out for anything negative btw. Feline lilly went for it and as young vas she is (she stated in her early thirties) she did what most young thirty olds do, she flirts back and of course cook being cook responded back…then that started a break down of the usual and customary rules of engagement on the JP threads. I think they just got caught up in the fun of innocent flirtation…however it is now beyond that which I am not surprised by.
However cook swears he has never asked for anyone’s email and I believe him. IMO cook appears to be an okay guy…he’s more upfront than some of the fans.
Being what appears to be two single individuals, at one point I thought maybe cook will fly out from the east coast to meet with feline lilly who lives in my area…match.com can’t compete with JP threads LOL…if they do meet up…all is up in the air because you and I both know that it’s easy to say something online and the reality is different…but it’s that “hope” factor and “illusion” factor that is so strong and I didn’t mean to present the analogy because we’re off topic re our usual discussion.
Anyway, they may or may not. I suspect that they just might.
BTW I enjoy our exchanges here. I don’t feel like we have to thread lightly since it appears you and I have similar thoughts. On the JP threads lots of “sensitivities” going on and side stepping but again always the drama.
oh oh typo, third paragraph,
should be “as young as” not “vas”.
Aww, how sweet! They found each other in a JJ thread. They can tell their grandchildren that. You think it could get serious? I wonder if they’ll tell us. I’m sure they’ll exchange emails soon, if they haven’t already!
Do you believe in internet couplings? I mean meeting your partner on the net. I thought it was something to avoid. You never know who you’re dealing with. How can a girl ever know she’s not dealing with a less than ideal guy? Less than good guy? So you agree to meet. What if you don’t like him? He has seen you, he’ll find out where you live…….It could be the start of a nightmare. Of course there are exceptions. I’m happy for them. Now you know, I’m a scaredy cat.
Btw, a few threads back (wish I can remember which) cook asked me where I lived, because it was very late at night in your neck of the woods but I was posting and he was still posting.
I didn’t answer that because I think the nice thing about the internet is that one can be totally anonymous. Nobody knows who you are or where you live, unless you want to tell.
I haven’t followed their posts. What do you know about cook? Is he a lonely guy? Divorced, maybe?
I hope both Felinelilly and cook are just having some fun, or are both serious, because it can’t be nice if one is/becomes serious and the other isn’t.
PS
I’m no longer interested in politics……. I’m trying hard to believe myself!
I’m going to scream…this awaiting moderation has hit me so many times within yesteray and today. aarrrrrgh and phooey. I’m going to try again.

Regarding online dating, I “think” it happens more than we know…after all match.com, yahoo, craigs list, etc in the past have been very success although in the last six months to a year I read that participants have been disappointed because of all the lying that goes on…amusing yet sad stories of two people arrangint to meet at a public place and the man driving by without stopping to see what the woman looks like, then emailing telling her he didn’t like the way she looked!!…honest! Most online adult meetings are in public places, so the possibility of anyone knowing where you live is uncommon unless one of the participants follows the other home…which is spooky. But most adults learn how to handle themselves in these situations from what I gather. My cousin and a few friends do these online match ups all the time…although never and I mean never have anyone I know personally who does this has meet anyone…not that who they meet are dangerous, most insist on pictures which some post from ten years ago and usually the common complaint is the person was not perceived to be who he/she is. Reading articles is quite interesting on online dating and my original interest in jj’s was observation of social interaction which is interesting too but online dating stories are fascinating because of the overt acceptable lying that goes on but everyone expects it!!! Men over inflate their incomes and women lie about their age is the most common lie….if you have the time and interest, if you go to yahoo personals or craigs list personals, read some of the men and women’s description of themselves, photos and what they are looking for…sheer entertainment in people watching. I’ve been doing that for years and what is interesting is that the same people are still looking after two years plus…my thought was why can’t these people hook up with someone?…it’s either the quality of people who sign up or the seeker is very critical. The only one consistent theme is that it doesn’t matter what you say, the photos are what get replies. Some people have even substituted friends photos hoping that the other person likes their personality and their looks don’t matter, but that doesn’t work apparently.
Bottomline I think it is know that if safety procedures are carried out, online dating is fine…really no different than going to a bar, yuk, you don’t know really who are getting involved with there either…this way people have “some” control and if you can’t get it in your social circle or day to day routine, it’s just another option.
Check out the DVD “Must Love Dogs” with John Cusack and Diane Lane…cute comedy and
I don’t think cook or Feline Lilly will kiss and tell but they might have a go at it. The long distance is the killer to their relationship…opposites coasts…I don’t gather that either would go for that for too. l
Orchid,
have you noticed, their exchanges have calmed down since the facilitation. Today Feline apologized on the Mammoth thread. From what I can assess, both are good people…it’s the intolerant ones who won’t let up. They’re exchanges reached a pitch that is unresolved, I suspect, they might exchange emails eventually but not tell.
Extracting from cook’s posts I do believe he was previously a “cop and in the military” despite some trouble-maker in the group calling him a liar. He is divorced single Dad living on the east coast and I gather in some form of business, sales perhaps, he has the tone of a person who’s fairly confident and good at that. He talked about his clients. He described himself as Puerto Rica/Dominican/Haitian and another time as black/latino. I suspect from the nature of his sophistication and work background probably in his late thirties to early/mid-forties. I don’t gather he is lonely. I think he really enjoys being the only man (other than Ariel) regularly conversing with women and it’s a challenge for him. He actually is very mellow and level headed and if you read his posts, he doesn’t attack anyone, tolerates bitchy, catty females and it’s actually a great learning experience for him in the real dating world! You know he has lasted longer than rudedog (also single) and therefore longer than any man over the past three years. Did he reveal anything to you that late night?
Cook is definitely experienced and Feline lilly a little naive but adventurous. From her “come-on” posts to cook, she certainly is not inexperienced with men…she jumped right in there without any hesitation and is not faking. Fakers and tentative newbies aren’t as smooth. And if they meet I’m sure they will agree to exchange pictures before fronting the money for RT tickets! from my previous post, you can tell the stats on a successful “love match” leading to marriage are slim but they will have fun along the way. I really do think both can handle disappointments…being single and dating it happens all the time in this day and age. Feline also exchanges emails with some of the regulars and I bet she spills with them, so cook is kind of on notice if anything goes “bad”. I don’t think he’d want his reputation in his cyberspace hangout jeopardized…I think he likes hanging out with us.
I agree with you you have to be careful posting, but for me it’s strictly because I’m private although lately I’ve released much about myself but I still felt safe and “not infringed” upon by doing so. Neither you nor I are the posters anyone would go after. No one posting can really can’t track a specific poster down even with your email address or URL if they could get it which they can’t btw unless the owners of jared’s blog reveals it and they won’t.
In my case whatever non specific info I revealed was in context relevent with what I posted. I’m not a scaredy cat, but I’m cautious and I know what not to reveal. I think it’s more important what others don’t know about you as opposed to the little they do know.
I’m taking a break from politics too since it doesn’t matter if we care or not, the nom will be whoever it is and like I posted before…the world won’t end.
Orchid,
my apologies, multiple, massive, awful grammar and mispelling errors in my posts…if my computer and jj got along, I’d correct, but I know you will figure out and forgive me.
thanks
…most insist on pictures which some post from ten years ago and usually the common complaint is the person was not perceived to be who he/she is.
That’s just it! I think the majority are good people, just trying to find a partner on the net but many will be disappointed and, like I said, you never know if you’re dealing with a baddie.
have you noticed, their exchanges have calmed down since the facilitation.
No, I haven’t, because I didn’t follow them! I will read their posts starting now.
I think most are disappointed more than dealing with a “baddie”. But there is a certain lingering hint of maybe I will find “the one”…and “scaredy cats” need not apply… LOL. I’m not making fun of you Orchid, but young singles looking for love or the “hope” and “illusion” of getting what they see advertised in their faces every hour, every day feel compelled to try. I also think there is a certain amount of excitement and thrill in the uncertainty of the whole venture as well like bungie jumping or zip gliding! …we travel to countries we haven’t been to before so I guess the “thrill” might be analogous.
Also as a side note: I know of women who meet these men in public places with a friend in the background so they are protected…good tactic don’t you think? One of my best friends is gay and he does this all the time. He tells the guy to meet him in a certain place, then gets there early and observes the guy for awhile before he decides to approach. He’s very observant in behavior, posture, etc so he feels very safe.
btw I just read cook’s #345 post to you on the Angelina and Maddox movie thread, are you not currently in the US?
I ask only because your international lifestyle is so appealing…I don’t think you are a scaredy cat at all although I might use that against you in fun. I was wondering the other night if your time spent in Iraq was when Hussein was in control? And you don’t have to reveal to me…I’m not a stalker, killer or whatever…although I bet that’s what stalkers and killers tell their prey…LOL…ignore me, I’m feeling kind of goofy today.
Orchid,
I’ve changed my mind about cook being in sales, I wonder if he is in some sort of computer related field. He works nights.
Did you noticed two more guys suddenly appeared posting today…Pete and justinjames. I have a suspicion more men lurk than post but why are they coming out of the woodwork now I wonder? An off the wall thought was non-gay men lurking seeing cook and Feline Lilly and maybe they think they can hit too…told you jj’s blog may be better than an internet dating service, LOL. What do you think?
Totally agree with Roseanne. Oprah is the biggest hypocrite. she is an empty suit, who is leading the brainless masses of women to doomsday. I wish shed disapear to some other planet. She is what this world does not need. She is totally playing the race card with Obama - coz shes too afraid to see another woman in America have any power. that threatens her. shes sly two - no 6 faced character. I wish the mareican people werent so stupid then they could see throug her…alas! they are.
Hey Boo-oprah, great you’re joining us. FALP and I have been alone in this thread for quite some time.
Oprah is enjoying flexing her muscles. Too bad, imo, people seem to agree with her.
What do you guys think of Obama’s picture dressed in the native costume (?) of an African country? Don’t know which country that was.
I also heard Michelle Obama saying something that their side thinks she shouldn’t have said!
FALP, it sure looks like BHO is gaining. He really hasn’t said anything specific, just feel-good stuff. Do people really think he can deliver???

It could also be females pretending to be men! I hope JJ doesn’t read your post. If he knows his blog could be better than an internet dating service, he could start charging us.

“FALP, it sure looks like BHO is gaining. He really hasn’t said anything specific, just feel-good stuff. Do people really think he can deliver??”
I don’t think the people who are or are considering voting for him care. According to the pundits, people are desperately seeking change and that’s all…they are grasping at anything that is 180 degrees opposite Bush.
Re: what he is saying, even in the most recent debate, he admitted there were few differences in Clinton and his health proposal, on their plans for Iraq. However my take is he tends to mimic what HRC has proposed or he rephrases it. Throughout this whole campaign I continue to gain admiration towards this woman and my opinions of him haven’t changed. His momentum is feeding off momentum and as you and I have discussed…that is what blind voters do…it’s the bandwagon affect, eg non thinkers want to go with a “perceived winner” regardless of details of the winner…and with him it’s very similar to a congregation of “the faithful” and “the believers”…you get my point. I don’t want to insult or make judgment…I understand the rhetoric associated with those scenarios but unfortunately such mentality crosses over to the political arena where sound rational facts should take precedence over an illusion of hope (and illusion and hope really are different).

“It could also be females pretending to be men! ”
I did read that…do you actually believe regulars are doing that? There is some manipulation and undermining going on that is childish…starting to affect some like FelineLilly. I’m reserving opinions on this MM stuff. I apparently missed the whole “out” by PT. I do think Mother Earth and her/his alter ego Mamma Earth are troublemakers. Do you actually recall seeing Jared’s reverting of the names to the original? Why is it only with a few and not all unless they are using fake email addresses as well.
BTW have you ever been to Roatan Honduras? I’m going there this June/July. I know they are having an increase in AIDS and although a tourist attraction, the locals are impovished. Just looking for someone who has actually been there.
Orchid,
have you seen this Clinton ad with Jack Nicholson…it’s the best one yet. I eliminated the http
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9NUPLaoUdo
Yes, I have seen the ad with Jack Nicholson, and I also watched the TV today. This has been a good day for HRC!!!!!!! I’m sooo glad for her, but she’s still behind.
I try to watch only when she’s winning!
I heard somebody on TV saying that she has won the big states, which are important for the election in November!
She also won the ‘Kennedy states,’ which neutralizes the Kennedy support for BHO.
Hi Orchid,
here is an interesting video link to Tim Russert and analysis on why it is not a good idea for a Clinton/Obama ticket. Also slightly touches on the role of Bill if such a scenario occurs. I eliminated the http. The comments related to this specially is towards the middle of the video.

Stay positive. I understand where you are coming from.
I can understand BHO being uncomfortable with WJC breathing down his neck!
Just saw a new ad by the Clinton side. About the call at 3 am. Very funny. They used a clip of BHO dancing!
The mayor of SF just returned from campaigning with HRC in Texas and he make a point of saying that Bill Clinton has really changed…his speeches are shorter and much more concise. He thinks Bill is making a big difference with his new toned down approach which helped in Texas and Ohio..
I’m going through a slow burn at those who are blaming HRC for Bill’s NAFTA. They automatically assume that just because they are married that she supported NAFTA ‘as is’ when Bill initiated it. How can the public be so dumb???
They are assuming women automatically think and agree with their husbands…you’d think in these times, men and women would realize that many women don’t do that anymore. This very attitude is the reason why I’m convinced the polls show men consistently prefer Obama over HRC …because of simple sexism…”keep them pregnant and at home”…the mantra of the typical MCP…and they are still around despite women’s progress.
The mayor of SF also said that McCain is going to make mince-meat out of Obama if Obama is the nom because McCain is very experienced. He also said since the issues between HRC and Obama are so similar, in the final stint, it’s going to come down to character and personality…there’s nothing else to talk about that already hasn’t been hashed and re-hashed. The mayor gave an interesting perspective in this interview.

test.
sorry Orchid for the double post. When I tried to view it, I didn’t see it, so I had to rewrite…text is only slightly different between the two. Then I switched browsers and there they were. Something about jj website that doesn’t like the lesser known browsers. I don’t like IE but it works on JJ. I prefer Avant Browser or Opera but they don’t mix only with jj’s threads, all other websites are fine.
Orchid,
have you seen this SNL HRC-Obama on the inexperience of Obama if Obama is elected…it’s funny. I removed the http.

Yes, I have! Very funny!
You know, I think BHO would make a great preacher, evangelist. He makes feelgood speeches and people cry  when they listen to him.
I thought superdelegates can vote as they wish.
Some people (on TV) say that superdelegates must vote the same as the majority in their states. If that’s the case, what’s the point of being a superdelegate.
