Awwww! It’s funny how Nicole seems to have fell pregnant only yesterday, and ‘NOw she’s already giving birth. Salma Hayek’s pregnancy seemed over a year old before she gave birth, maybe bcoz she was soo big all the time. At least these new babies would take away some attention from Britney’s madness! Not!

Um I wanted to go the natural way, but my doctor said my blood pressure was low, and there was other complications, baby was breech..So if she goes c-section we fans will back her. Her business. I hope it goes well.

Although I find it a tad disconcerting that we know when and how long she’s been in labor. What happened to finding out she had the baby…hours even days after the fact? I guess those days are long gone.

some women dont have a choice and have to have a c section. however, elective cesareans are whats causing mortality rates in the west to rise due to complications. its still low compared to developing countries but its stupid because it can be avoided if people were better informed and doctors learnt to say NO.
a c section is not an easy way out for mothers, and you cant even care for your baby for 6 weeks after the op. however, i doubt celebs really give a **** about that cos the nanny does most of the mothering and nursing.

Kristen #15 you are pretty ignorant if you think that it’s only celebs who are having C-sections! Yes women have been having babies for “millions of years” — and dying while doing it, or the baby dies. It still remains the most common way for women to die in many undeveloped countries.
As tiny as Nicole is, she will likely have to have a C-section. Ever hear of the expression “child-bearing hips”? Women with big hips have a wider passage and less chance of something going wrong. Small women — which number a lot of celebs — have all kinds of trouble.
A friend of mine has wide hips and she was still in labor for almost 21 hours before she finally saw some sense. She was literally exhausted by that time, passing out and barely able to push. She had to have a C-section, and she had started out wanting it so natural that she wanted no drugs even!
So get a clue — there are many more C-sections these days because it’s safer in so many instances. It has NOTHING to do with wanting your stomach to look a particular way — how superficial to think that!

do you know how many deaths due to haemorraging and infections happen to women just after a c section? and do you know how many instances there are where babies get injured during the process? the natural way is the best way and always should be the first choice for mothers. csections should be given only in emergency situations.
also i wasnt blessed with ‘child bearing’ hips but have given birth NATURALLY 4 times! so your claim is a load of sh*t. because while you pregnant your hips naturally widen out in preparation for birth as do your breasts for lactation..

My mom thinks Nicole’s having a girl because of the way she was carrying (low) and she called Christina having a boy before she even knew that Chris had already stated it (my mom doesn’t follow celeb gossip like that so there was no way she would’ve known) because she was carrying high. So we’ll see if my mom’s right about Nicole.
Congrats to both, especially my girl Christina! After all the crap they’ve both been through in life, they deserve this happiness. And I can definitely see Chris taking the Gwen Stefani route and having a very stylish child.

nicky - Chris already said she’s either naming her son Jordan (after her husband) or Jake or something like that…anyway, it’s definitely a boy! lol..I know this is going to sound really weird of me (because you should NOT be this excited about someone else’s child), but I can’t wait to see what her little boy looks like. Same with Nicole’s baby. She’s adorable and was an adorable kid so hopefully her child gets her genes (except that pesky addiction problem).

Nicole Richie looks beautiful pregnant! May she have a safe delivery and both be wonderful parents.
There are a small percentage of situations where C-section is abused. The greater percentage of OB/Gyns do not perform a C-section unless their patient is at high risk for any number of reasons. In Nicole Richie’s case, I would think she might end up having a C-section due to the fact that she is very tiny, her pregnancy looks large for her size, and, further, she has a past history of not taking very good care of her physical body.
I was over 40 (two prior miscarriages) and my child happened to be footling breech wherein he grew rapidly in my small womb and didn’t turn around in time for a vaginal birth. Even though I was treated as high risk throughout the first seven months of pregnancy for other reasons, I still trusted I would have a natural child birth until we discovered my baby didn’t turn around in time. He turned out to be a beautiful, happy, and very intelligent child!
For all of you criticizing other women who have C-sections, gather your wisdom cap as women used to die in labor (prior to C-sections) due to their babies being breech.
An ethical OB/Gyn, weighs all factors prior to scheduling a C-section; hopefully, all women are spared a natural child birth when they are known to be at risk. Personally, I think all women over 40 should have a C-section and, especially, if they haven’t delivered a child prior to that age.

I have nothing against c sections. and if they are needed or required for various reasons, then fine.
I just hate women who chose them because they are chickensh*t and want to still have a tight ****** after birth. And yes lots of women opt for csections for this stupid f*cking reason. just go to the birthing websites, during my pregnancy i spent a lot of time on these stupid things and the idiot women on there said they didnt want to feel pain and that they were scared so they wanted elective caesareans.
being tiny is no excuse. tarty 11 yr olds and 12 yr olds give birth, you see it all the time. thing is, your body naturally morphs into ‘birth mode’ during pregnancy, so unless you have health issues or problems with the baby then there is no excuse for a csection. this is me being all judgmental, and i love it.

Women should only have C-Sections if their are complications. Period. It is MAJOR surgery. It takes 6 weeks to recover and in that time you cannot even pick up your baby. A woman who gives birth naturally are up and about in 3-4 days. So, gee, which one is better for Mommy? And as for baby, yeah, instead of going through the birth cannal where nature has given it to go through instead lets take a KNIFE and cut close to it to pull it out. All of you who are crying how C-Sections aren’t bad are the ignorant ones, thank you. And Christina is only doing it because its the *popular* thing to do.

By the way it doesn’t make me less than a mom having had a

Yes, there is a difference, but remember that sometimes active herpes and other STD’s mean a c/section is needed.

Considering the fact that giving birth is still the number one cause of death among women IN THE WORLD, it’s very easy to see why some women would opt to have a C-section rather than a natural birth. Until you have actually experienced the pains and complications that come along (and can come along) with childbirth (which I’m sure many of you whiners have NOT) you cannot judge the reasoning behind one.
Do not be incredibly naive and assume that everyone who gets a C-sections gets one for superficial reasons; and do not assume that every women who get’s pregnant has a body that can actually handle the stress of giving birth. Why do you think so many women died while giving birth in the past? It’s because their bodies could not handle that much stress and that much pain. And because childbirth can lead to some serious complications that can threaten the life of the mother, and of the child.
C-section’s can save lives. And it does not matter if you agree with why women get them in the first place. It is THEIR body, therefore what they decide to do is THEIR choice. And nobody has the right to tell a women she is wrong for getting one.
