OlderVanessa Hudgens Joins the Mafia
Vanessa Hudgens arrives at the Rock Mafia Studio in Santa Monica, Calif. on Thursday. Looks like she got her hair straightened in the middle of the day!
The 19-year-old High School Musical star is set to act in feature film Will, which shoots February in Austin, Texas is about a battle of the bands at a high school.
Here’s a description of the role Vanessa will be playing: [SA5M] The 5 is silent. Sam is 15 years old, dressed down in black jeans and t-shirt, with hair strategically hiding her face from the world, she is a loner, one of the school’s outsiders, constantly seen with a book in hand. Smart, with a sense of humor and a lot of disdain for her shallow peers, Sam is a former stutterer and now speaks slowly and deliberately. She teams up with Will on a class project, and the two quickly discover they have a lot in common. Their friendship eventually takes the shape of a burgeoning romance. Brought on board as the lead singer for the band Will is managing, Sam emerges from her cocoon, demonstrating grit and commitment to perfection.

It sounds to me like Jared IS confirming it. He’s got an inside track to Vanessa’s publicist. So unless I hear otherwise I’m considering it confirmed. I think it’s a good move. Yeah I know people will say its “Another high school role” well, Vanessa is nineteen. Both she and Zac have a ways to go yet before they’re considered for roles as Supreme Court Judges or U.S. Senators.
But it sounds like a good script and the character sounds quite a bit different then Gabriella. Yeah they’re both “smart” but this character does not sound “sugary sweet” like Gabriella. I’m happy.
Vanessa is strutting her great style once again! I agree Zac is lucky guy he has a great girl and he knows it that’s why he couldn’t stop staring at her at the palm springs festival. Zanessa rocks stop the hate live in love!!!

But her character description sounds sooooo sad !!! She’s a LONER !?!? That is SOOO NOT KOOL !! But either than that can’t wait to see her on the big screen !!! The movie sounds like it should be interesting. It sounds a little like another movie that I’ve seen before but I don’t remember which one. Either way, I’m still definitely seeing it!

Not impressed. She should be trying to step out of the Disney shadow by now… this movie will not help her do that. it will typecast her even more and it’s going to be even harder for her to be considered for roles outside of this genre.
