OlderBrad Renfro Dead at 25
Brad Renfro is dead, reports TMZ.
The 25-year-old actor, who has had a history of drug abuse, was found dead at his Los Angeles home this morning.
He just wrapped the film The Informers costarring Winona Ryder and Billy Bob Thornton.
Cause of death has not been determined.
Via Wiki: Renfro has gone on to act in several well-regarded films in his adulthood including 2001’s Ghost World and Bully and 2005’s The Jacket with Keira Knightley and Adrien Brody. In 1995 he won Hollywood Reporter’s “Young Star” award and was nominated as one of People’s “Top 30 Under 30.”
UPDATE: Craig Harvey, chief investigator for the Los Angeles county coroner, told People that drug overdose is “obviously it’s a possibility considering his history, but right now all we have is the history of his drinking the previous night. All that we have is that he was last known to be alive during the morning hours and he was snoring.”

I remember being really impressed when he was in The Client, and his chemistry with Susan Sarandon was terrific. Unfortunately it wasn’t too long after that he got into the drugs (too much too soon, IMHO). I doubt Young Hollywood will ever learn. Such a waste.

This is SO sad. He was a really gifted young actor. Not only his first role in The Client, but he did a movie with Sir Ian McClellen and he also was in that movie Sleepers, about four kids who grew up in Hell’s Kitchen in NYC go to a reform school where they are molested.When they grow up, two of them murder one of the cops who molested them. It was a really good move with Kevin Bacon as the sleezy cop and Robert DeNiro as their priest and Brad Pitt was Brad Renfro when he grew up and became a lawyer. Minnie Driver was in it too. I am so sorry Brad Renfro died.
He was indeed great in The Client. Bully is one of my all-time favorites. He was also in Apt Pupil and Sleepers, just to name a few. He was supposed to be the next big thing. This is horrible. RIP. My thoughts are with his family.

Wow, this is terrible sad news. He was a great actor…seeing all this chaos on JJ I was beginning to think the things just written on this site are nothing but hoaxes…It’s really sad to lose someone so talented. I will always remember how great an actor he was.

This makes my heart hurt. I had such a huge crush on him when i was younger that i took a fold out poster of him from my Bop magazine and hung it in my tent when i went camping. oh how sad..he was so talented.

um, the outpouring of emotions is really nice and all but where was everyone while brad had issues and his career was hurting.. i don’t remember anyone mentioning him then. pretty sure that’s how his life went as well, it’s no surprise he left us so young.. where was his support system and life substance :/

This is so tragic. He was incredibly talented in many of the movies people have mentioned. The Apt Pupil was one of his best performances along with Sleepers, and The Client. His early passing reminds me of another young star that passed away too soon..his name was Jonathan Brandis I think. It’s so sad when talent is not recognized as it should be and then these young stars resort to drugs to ease whatever pain they are feeling.

I’m totally shocked, i didn’t know he had drug problems and i even said the other day what happened to him i havent seen him in a while, I fancied him like crazy in sleepers. What a shame, poor brad xox
I have been a member of his uncle’s church for years. Brad had some amazing role models in his life he just chose not to follow their example, instead he chose to follow the example of the mom that was never able to really be a mom to him because of her own addictions. I hope something positive can come from this, that maybe others can learn from his mistakes instead of making the same ones. I also hope that the media will show some respect when it comes to his funeral, give his family and real friends a chance to grieve and say goodbye in private.

Wow I was shocked when I found out Brad passed away…
I’ve lost three of my favorite actors now and its so tragic because they all had such an amazing talent that was over looked by most.
1) River Phoenix (Drug overdose outside the Viper Club in Hollywood)
- He was so amazing in everything he did and I had a huge crush on him.
2) Jonathan Brandis (Hung himself)
- Again he was phenomenal and I particularly loved him on the show Seaquest DSV….
3) Brad Renfro (Found dead in his home)
- Like everyone else has mentioned he was fantastic in “The Client” but my favorite film of his is “Sleepers” I read the book and then saw the previewso n TV… went to go see it and loved it!!
I loved Brad’s work and was always looking out for him in the movies and what not… I hadn’t heard anything about him lately and was just wondering about him when I saw the news report last night.
My heart felt condolences go out to his family and friends, I am so sorry he lost his life so young… he was a phenomenal actor who had my respect and support despite his drug issues. He will be missed by fans like me who loved him regardless.
I only hope that Brad has found peace and happiness wherever he is at now, may he rest in peace and may his family and friends find the strength to move on in the world without him and honor is name so that he will know he is loved.

I know during the early 90’s Brad Renfro was the next big thing and I was thinking where was he during the past years since I’m not from USA so I don’t have the clue either but I was always wondering what’s going on with him. He was a great actor. And yes, where was everybody when he needed support system…it’s just soooo sad to think of the people who knew him but did nothing to help.
It’s always like that, isn’t it? The irony of this world really…Many people love Brad it’s just that we are not able to show him because we don’t have the way to do it…if only he knew many people cared about him. The last thing I can say is Rest in Peace, Brad and you will always be remembered by the people who love you….

What!? I didn’t know Jonathan Brandis died too, in 2003! Oh, this is sooo sad. All deaths are terrible, but they’re even more when it’s about young people that had an entire life to live.

Yeah I didn’t know Jonathan Brandis had died until 2 years later when I saw one of his old Movies and decided to look him up on the internet….
Its crazy I know… and I actually was so in shock that I couldn’t watch his films when they came on tv after I found out :(
I was a Major Die Hard Jonathan Brandis fan, and meeting him backstage at a christmas parade is a moment I will never ever forget.
he was shy yet so sweet and very happy to talk with me since we were sitting at the same table. He was troubled, that much I could tell but he affectionately talked about how much he loved acting and how hard it was at the same time.
It was an amazing chat and something I’ll never forget because I don’t remember the other celebs I met that night…. Just him, Just Jonathan Brandis and his sad blue eyes.
And now we lose Brad Renfro… just 3 years younger than me… the really Tragic part is he’s not the last young Actor we’ll lose…

Such a waste, a really good actor. I was looking forward from seing more work of his, he really had potential. Really good in all the movies I’ve seen of him so far: The Client, Apt Pupil, Bully, Deuces Wild and 10th and Wolf. Once again, it’s really sad. Didn’t expect him to go so young.
