Oprah Gets Her Own TV Network

Oprah Gets Her Own TV Network

The world’s richest woman in entertainment is about to get a whole lot richer–Oprah Winfrey is getting her own TV network!

Oprah is combining forces with Discovery Communications in a deal that would dissolve the Discovery Health network to create OWN — the Oprah Winfrey Network.

“The focus of the channel will be the focus of Oprah’s brand, which is to educate and inspire people to live the best life they can,” said David Zaslav, Discovery Communications chief.

Her very first show will be analyzing male behavior after the bionic woman. Is it passion for the lover aroused by the show or is it just plain rape. To date no one can answer the question until they can bionic woman may not return.

Intense lust or rape? Tune in to OWN. :)

What a stupid bias post…have you ever watched Oprah??? duhhh!!
or are you just blowing smoke up our ass to start a race thing???

I love people who keep working & improving the brand, ie.. Oprah, Madonna, Martha Stewart.

Sheila - She’ll become more biased. Priority to her is Black people.

Obviously you know nothing about Oprah because she caters to white people. I only know 1 black person who likes her and watches her show (and I’m black).

Amber you are so right. I use to like watching her show, but now the only time I look at it is if one of my favorite celebs is on. and she is not as popular in the Black community as people would like to think. I give much props to her for doing her thing and being where she is today.

You can’t be a woman. Otherwise why such hatred toward another? Funny, Oprah has been criticized for hugging too many white people, giving breaks to Whites like Dr. Phil and Rachel Ray yet on the other hand, othe rpeople claim she is too Black. Get over yourselves.

WHy don’;t you do what she did? Sh egot off her ass after sexual abuse, teenage pregnancy to make something of herself. She is a Black woman from the South who pulled herself up to come from nothing to become a woman who is a trailblazer. You can bet your bottom dollar, a young Oprah was not sitting at home hating on other women. Instead, she focused on making herself a success. That, my friends, sets the little girls apart from the real women.

Whatever you think, Ms. O is at home couting her billions while you are on a blog hating on her. I don’t think she, her Montecito mansion, her private jets, her huge influence on Americans at large, her sheer mind boggling intelligence and wit could give a rat’s ass what you think of her. THAT is why she is a success. Learn from it.

Amber you are so right. I use to like watching her show, but now the only time I look at it is if one of my favorite celebs is on. and she is not as popular in the Black community as people would like to think. I give much props to her for doing her thing and being where she is today.

Wow, you are the voice of Black America, huh? Whether or not Black people accept Oprah (which they do in large numbers from what numbers tell us) she has changed the face of Black women in America forever. NO Black women can walk up to a newsroom and be told she can’t. No little black girl can ever dream of becoming a billionaire and be told it is impossible. No little black girl can dremam of her own network when just 40 years ago, you could not show a Black person on TV, and be told she can’t. Oprah proves Black women can. If Black people don’t accept her (as you falsely claim) so what? A successful Black person should not set out to get the approval of anyone, White or Black, instad you do what you believe despite! That is how one succeeds. Again, that is why Oprah is a Billionaire and you on a blog writing about her. She is smart enought to figure that out. You might learn a thing or two.

Team Lara Croft, she never said she was the voice of Black America so please stop trying to pick a fight where it’s not needed. All she said was that people think she’s this icon for all blacks when in reality, she’s not. That doesn’t mean that people aren’t impressed by where she’s gotten - they just don’t like her or relate to her, period.

And she didn’t say ALL black people don’t like Oprah, either.

Oprah, you keep on moving ok? never mind the naysayers and of course there are plenty of naysayers. The more $$$$$$$ the more naysayers, LOL!!!!

I love Oprah. I met her in September @ her show and she was very funny and nice to everyone. So I dont care what the haters say. She is using her fame to do something good in the world or at least she is trying to. Shes worked her ass off to get where she is today.

Awesome!! Get to spreadin’ some goodness!!

You need to reread your Buddy’s post again and see the point she was making. Why even bring up the issue that nto all Black people accept Oprah? Why? When this is a blog about oPRAH GETTING HER OWN NETWORK. Bringing up race is a sure way to try to start something and that is what you and your buddy did. What does this have to do with race. And who deternines the number of Black people who support Oprah? Did your Buddy take a poll? This so reminds me of the time when I was a substitute Teacher (volunteer) in a predominntly African-American community and so many kids complained that when they went home to do their homework, listened to a certain kind of music or spoke a certain way, some of their peers said they were “acting white”. This idea that a Balck person’s success removes them from their community is bogus and inherently offensive. Oprah does not have to represent anybody but her own convictions. And many many many Black people like Oprah. You adn your buddy are clearly bitter as you have not figured out how to do what Oprah has done which is not focusing on any communitiy’s expectation or acceptance of you but rather what you want to achieve in your own lives. Your statements are full of it and now, backed up in a corner, you claim your buddy did not mean it. So I ask you: why bring up race in this thread? Did Jared make a remark about race in his post? Was this about race? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saying that Oprah does nto represent allBlack people is a way to bring race here. And you know it. If you are going to a closed minded idiot, at least be courageous and own up to it!

Team Lara Croft - again, you need to respond to what WE were responding too. Neither one of us brought up race, the poster I replied to ignorantly stated that Oprah’s just going to cater to blacks like she always does or some stupid stuff like that. I corrected that poster because the reality is SHE DOESN’T!!! If that’s offensive to you that she caters to whites more, that’s not my problem - IT’S THE TRUTH! Leave it to you to start assuming about other people’s lives. Honey, I’m currently in college, going on to grad school and will be starting my own magazine. I could care less about what Oprah or anyone else is doing. Hell, she gets props from me for making all her money. But I simply corrected a generalization. And not once did either me or Sinna say that we polled all black people and all black people don’t like Oprah - that was YOUR assumption. I said, I don’t know but 1 black person who likes her. And that’s the truth. Nowhere did I say she didn’t have black fans. Again, stop reading into things that aren’t there.

I rarely watch Oprah, I don’t need my information thorugh her or any talk show host. I believe I have a sound mind to do good judgement for myself. However I watched it a fewtimes out of boredom and I must say I was not impressed at all. She had a doctor on her show to talk about ‘******’ and related issues. i couldnot understant why she continuously kept saying ‘Vajayjay’ instead of ******? I mean is it a dirty word to her? if so why do an episode on it? or was she trying to be cute? A 2 year old mumbling so would be cute, not a 50 something mature woman. Another thing I noticed about her was that she was very dominating. Even though the doctor was the guest speaker, she barely allowd him to speak. Everytime he opened his mouth, after just a few seconds Oprah would take over and start voicing her own opinion and the poor doctor had to nod along and then it would be time for commercial break and back to Oprah again.

Frankly, it didnot seem like she was enjoying the idea of someone talking on her talk show who was not her. Or she doesnot notice such obvious things.
I am all for power to women, financial success for women etc. Well , I am not buing Oprah’s saint persona. She is a business person, a good person, but not definitely saintly.
I would not go aroung sleeping on thousands of dollars worth sheets, sending a private jet to pick up my cupcakes etc if I truly want to serve the poor and unfortunate. Its not just the way of a selfless person.
And I don’t buy what she preaches either. Goodlife? What goodlife? All I see is a hugely successful business woman who binges on food , gains 50 pounds, goes on unhealthy diets and then hires some fitness guru to lose it and its big news, the fitness guru is the new IT trainer etc.
Note to Oprah, just follow a normal balanced diet and move your butt you will be ok.

She is overrated,no doubt.

A lot of people I know don’t like her for that reason - she’s a complete contradiction to what she preaches. And everything she does seems to be for a self-serving purpose. But hey, if that gets her paid in the end (and it does), so be it! That’s the beauty of living in a capitalist society.

Dear Amber..NEwsflash to you: going to college and getting your own magazine is not enough. You need to be an independent thinker and stand for something that is more linked to humanity and open-mindedness that your crap comment that you do not know ONE person who is Black who likes Oprah. Your gross generalization leads me to believe you are lying. I am sorry. You know not ONE Black person who likes her? How many Black people do you? And if you are Black, yes, how many of the Black people you know admitted this? AN dif so, do you not h=find it probeblmatic that not ONE of your Black peers/friends etc happens to like the most successful Black woman in America ever? And if so, what valid reason do they have for not liking her? Do they like Martha Stewart more? You are full of crap. Yes, you and your buddy did bring race here. Period. Accept it. And once you do that, you will be challenged. O sorry, you said you know one black person…ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow. And again is your post:
amber @ 01/15/2008 at 2:20 pm

Sheila - She’ll become more biased. Priority to her is Black people.

Obviously you know nothing about Oprah because she caters to white people. I only know 1 black person who likes her and watches her show (and I’m black).

What does catering to White people mean? She kisses their ass? She has them on their show? What what what??? And you say such a blatant accusoatory statemnent is now one that is race filled. If Oprah caters to White people when she has fns of all colors, this would be highly problematic and would go against anything her Network stands for so for you to make that charge - honey, it is a very serious charge. Give examples to how she caters to White people? Why cause she has White fans? Cuase she is nice to them when they are on her show? Does a Black singer cater to Whtie fans when their audience members are White? Does a politician cater to White voters when they get White votes? What does “cater to White people” mean?

And here is your buddy’s post: “She’ll become more biased. Priority to her is Black people.”. That is accusing Oprah of being biased adn you claim this is not a race filled commentary? Honey, you need to get a refund on that education of yours.

Milli @ 01/15/2008 at 3:50 pm
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

And yoou go for the cheap shot and attack Oprah on her weight. Good job. I thought only sexist pigs did that. Yeah, yeah, ,yeah Oprah did and Oprah that. Sh eis self involved and it is about her and blah blah blah. Bottom line: you are on a blog figuring out where your next rent check is coming from and she has become the most successful Black woman in America ever! This comes 50 years after she said she remembers watching TV and realizing that Blacks could perform on TV but would not be interviewd. THat blacks were not allowed to touch hands with a Whtie person. That the only person of color she ever saw on TV were Sidney Poitier and Diana Ross. A poor girl from the South who has no indoor plumbing goes from rape victim, teen mother, to the richest Black woman in the world and all you can do is focus on how self involved she is. Classic. Truly classic.

And here is your buddy’s post: “She’ll become more biased. Priority to her is Black people.”. That is accusing Oprah of being biased adn you claim this is not a race filled commentary? Honey, you need to get a refund on that education of yours.
*****************
Team Lara Croft - YOU need to read, sweetheart. Sinna didn’t write that - that’s what we were responding too. And you want to know examples of how she caters to whites? Watch her show, read her magazine - nuff said. And please, for someone who trys to make herself an authority on all things posted on this site (and you’re supposed to be an adult), making personal attacks…really? LOL, you’re laughable.

Oh, and AGAIN, read what I said. I said I know ONLY 1 black person who likes her. NOT that I don’t know any - yet I have the reading comprehension problem? LOL. I don’t like Oprah because she’s boring, period. If you need proof, watch her show. BORING! Does that spell it out enough for you? Don’t you have some Angelina blogs to go stalk? Oh yeah, Jared hasn’t posted any yet.

And, Team Lara Croft, why do you take everything so personally on here? Really? I mean, isn’t the whole point of blogs so people can share their opinions on topics? Why does it bother you so that other people think different than you? And you’re a teacher? I’m not being facetious either, I’m really curious. Every time I come on here, I see you getting all up in arms over stupid stuff that is of no concern to your daily life. That’s not good for the health.

Team Lara Croft–Seriously take a chill pill. I was simply agreeing with Amber and her comment to Sheila about her bias towards black people. No I did not take a poll, but the bottom line is that Oprah is not well liked by SOME black people as others would like to think. Take a look at her show, her audience is mostly white….That’s a fact. So I was agreeing with Amber commenting on Shiela’s statement. Whether you want to see it or simply be in denial, she has lost alot of her black audience. Again I give props to her for doing her thing.
So Team Lara Croft don’t start nothing when there is nothing to start.
Thanks Amber for looking out. Peace

Team Lara Croft-I did not write that post. Stop trying to use big words and get your sh!T together when trying to insult others

Sinna - you’re welcome. I don’t understand how people can get so bent out of shape on a celebrity blog, lol. You would think you killed one of their family members or something.

Amber: here is why your argument and such like it are problematic. There is this inherent sense that a Black person has to constantly prove the autehnticity of their Blackness. If they have too much support from the White community then their Blackness is questioned. Oprah has a lot of White guests and provides shows that BOTH Black and Whites can connect to? Isn’t that ultimately the American dream? Why does that take away from her? You argument is problematic because it has even found its way in politics where some Black leaders are questioning Barack Obama’s “blackness (never mind he is married to a Black woman and has two Black kids). I think this is a sad burden to put on successful Black people. Relaity check: you cannot become the richest and most powerful Black woman in the world by not having a HUGE level of White support. ANd to Oprah’s credit, she has managed to allow all kinds of people to embrace her. This talent is beyond race. My brother’s wife went through the same thing recently when got her PhD and taught in an Ivy League school. Sh egot a lot of flack for that. Is it not her right to go to a predominantly White school and teach? What “black” law says you can’t do that. Stop putting limitations on what a black woman like Oprah can and cannot do. At teh end of the day, she is Black and her experiences are embedded on being Black adn being told, as she said, that she was too dark or too ethnic looking to get on broadcast TV. At the time, the Black womn on TV were lighter and more supposedly acceptable to Whtie people and thinner of course. Oprah changed the image of what a woman broadcaster could look like for many women not just Black women. The odds were against her and she beat them. And again, that a little Black girl anywhere can say in 20 years I want to make a Billion dollars or own my own network has everything to do with Oprah’s success. Your Black agenda is divisive. Many successful Black people like Oprah will tell you their number one agenda was to be the best, not to meet expectations of a race of people for you will never ever be able to do that. Even Susan Taylor, teh Editor of Essence knows she could not survive without “white” sponsors. Is that catering to Whtie people? If so, every Black person should dismiss the White sponsors that support their cause and strictly go after Black money then. Is that what you plan to do with your magazine? Think about it.

amber @ 01/15/2008 at 4:21 pm

Sinna - you’re welcome. I don’t understand how people can get so bent out of shape on a celebrity blog, lol. You would think you killed one of their family members or something.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Then don’t get on a celeb blog and make racist comments than chicken out. IF this isa celeb blog stick to celb stuff and not race. You’r so transparent.

Sinna: Type O. Sorry. Glad you did not write that.

Team Lara Croft - Stop putting limitations on what a black woman like Oprah can and cannot do.
****************
There you go again reading into something that wasn’t in my post. I told you to read her magazine and watch her show, period. Yes, she embraces all people - that’s wonderful. Unless you didn’t just get off the boat from Africa, NO black person in this country is 100% African. Hell, even some Africans aren’t even 100% black! I have no problem with her taking money from white people - hey, I will. But her magazine and her show very rarely has anything to do with the average African American experience in this country. Upper class blacks? Maybe, but that’s about it.

Then don’t get on a celeb blog and make racist comments than chicken out. IF this isa celeb blog stick to celb stuff and not race. You’r so transparent.
*****************
Team Lara Croft - LMAO! You really ARE stretching now. When did I make racist comments? Please, count to ten, back away from your keyboard and stop living vicariously through Oprah (and others) and get a life of your own. That’s the only reason I can see someone getting so bent out of shape over someone that has nothing to do with you and probably wouldn’t look at you twice passing you on the street.

good for her!! a lot of people like her show

Look Team Lara Croft-
Damn relax sister…you must have a lot of time on your hands to write that long a$$ blog. Don’t pop a brain cell. LOL.

Hey!!…. Team Lara Croft!

Long time no see…C you still go the fire..… Happy New Year!

Amber, I actually worked on a TV project Oprah was involved with and one of my best friends worked on a Harpo production and had nothing but nice things to say about her. Certainly, one of the things you learn working and living in Los Angeles is to be nice to everyone and be respectful and she certainly was that. That said, you are contradiction yourself. Now, you claim she caters only to Upper Class black people. Geez sake! So if she only catrered to Crackheads you would be ok with that? What is authentic enough and what is not? You’re full of it.

You answered my question, with your own magazine, you would take money from White people but somehow that is , to you, not the same as catering to White people. Well, if you don;t want to cater to that community then don’t take money form the community. Period. Make a decision. But you can’t cause you’re full of it. It is people like you who would in a heartbeat sell tehir newborn to collect the big fat check from a White company yet pretend you are authentic cause all your subject matter has to do with “black issues”> This hypocrisy is astounding. You answered my question loud and clear.

Enjoy the White check and good luck with pretending you did not collect it.

Thank you, I tried the countdown and it really does help you breathe beter. You’re genius. And, as I suspected, you could not answer to the previous post cause you can’t. Enjoy the White check that you will be pretending you won’t be collecting as you create your magazine about Welfare crackheads. Keepin’ it real, right? Awesome. What will it be called “Pipe Sistah”? That would be authentic. By the way, do you work for a Black company? Cause otherwise, that would be REALLY catering to White people. And be careful of the car you drive too. Don’t want cater to them Germans either. You know …White people. And the Jeans you wear….hope they’;re not Levis…oh you know the rest.

Later! Smooches! (Ooops, is that too White?)

Team Lara Croft

I think that you seriously need to relax. I think what Amber is saying is Oprah made her money from being a smart business woman and catering to those who has the money which in this country is whites, and if that’s what it takes to make it the why not use the opportunity. No one is saying that she’s not a nice, kind of caring person. What is simple trying to be said is that Oprah caters her businessess towards white people. Her audience is mostly white most of her guest are white. These are facts. Get over yourself Team Lara Croft

Good for her !!!!! She’s a good businesswoman.

Team Lara Croft - I chose not to answer your post because I’ve already explained what I meant and what I said. I don’t have arguments online like you seem to be fond of - it’s so highschool. I know who I am, am comfortable with that and with my beliefs and nothing anyone says will ever change it. That’s that. Oprah’s boring. She also doesn’t care about you. Angelina Jolie doesn’t care about you. Brad Pitt doesn’t care about you. And no, smooches isn’t too white. ;)

Thank you, Sinna for having some sense to know what the deal is. LOL. That poster just loves to hear herself talk, I swear.

must chime in @ 01/15/2008 at 4:55 pm

Count me in as a colored woman who can’t stand Oprah and her gang of experts. I’m getting pretty sick of seeing her heavily made-up picture on her magazine and every where, night or day. Obviously she is too full of herself or else she would have put a model on its cover.

Amber girl enjoy the rest of your day. Team Lara Croft I had a good laugh reading your crap. TLC i know what would relax you and calm you to heck down…a nice big fat juicy ________________ fill in the blank. I was gonna say burger but use your imagation. LMAO. Peace I’m out.

Amber and Sinna: Yes, Oprah does nto care about me so do you think she cares that you think she caters too much to White people? Please. Oprah is smart enough to understand that her show is not “The Oprah Winfrey Show in Kenya” so if she wants to be the mogul she is - sh ehas to be able to go into EVERY American home as she does. Newsflash: Most people in America are White so to have the numbers she has, most of her fans MATHEMATICALLY have to be White. That is just the way it is. Jay-Z and 50 Cents know eventhough they write about the hood, the majority of their records are bought by White kids. Micahel Jordan knows the way to become the mogul he has become is to sell cereal and sneakers to White folks and Black folks. That you don’t understand this says you have a truly distorted view of business in America. Yes, I love to hear myself talk cause I make sense unlike your biased crap.

And if a Talk Show Host does not want to have White guests then, if it is legal, make that your goal. Screen the show on BET, don’t invite White guests and talk about predominatly black subjects. That is one option. Is that what you all want? Tyra and Oprah know what being a businesswoman is all about. You do a disservice to Black women to limit them like this. Donald Trump is not accused of catering to any community because he knows first and foremost, his goal is to make the utmost money. Why can’t that be teh goal of a Black woman? And the ONLY way to do that in America is to have a HUGE amount of White support. Otherwise, it is time for Good Day Nairobi on Public Access!

TLC: Bravo. That is the problem with the Black community. When you make it, they tear each other down and when you’re down, they curse at you. Divide and Conquer. That is why we are still where we are today. Nowhere. You don’t hear White women complaining about Barbara Walters or Martha Stewart. Black people need to wake up. Oprah girl, go where the money is. And yes, I am Black and I like Oprah.

You do a disservice to Black women to limit them like this.
*************
Team Lara Croft - why do you keep going on with your drivel?! LOL. Seriously. Not only do you KEEP reading into stuff that isn’t written, but then you ASSUME that whatever little twisted thing you think up is what both of us actually believe…you really DO think way too highly of yourself. Everything you just said was what Sinna and I have both said. Wherever money is, you’ll go, period. That’s what Oprah does. So how do we not understand business again? LOL. Please take some exlax and continue the breathing exercises….lord knows you need it. Have a nice evening!

I find it disturbing that they have to dissolve the Discovery Health Channel to make room for Oprah. As if television isn’t already a cesspool of dumbed-down shows, they have to add more by getting rid of an EDUCATIONAL tv network. Couldn’t they have given her Oxygen? WE? The freakin’ Hallmark Channel???

TLC - Thank you for agreeing with what Amber and I were saying. Damn it took you getting all stressed out , flustered and worked up, using up all your vocabulary words to get to the same point that we were trying to make. LOL

Amber: Gosh you’re Coward. Wow. How boring. And how sad. Oprah does not cater to anyone. She presents herself as she is: overweight, not the most beautiful, articulate, smart and an independent thinker. It so happens the formula worked in the most unexpected way. She manages to embrace both Blacks and Whites on her show and she knows alienating Whites would be economically stupid. But this does not mean she kisses up to them or dismisses being Black. Black women have the right to do and associate with whom they please. That is what they worked hard for in this country. Get off this blog with your pea brain mentality and get re-educated. You’re stuck in the past and unable to appreciate a woman who beat the odds.

If Oprah was a hateful, racist ***** who ranted against White people, you’d be the first to crucify her. You are jealous, plain and simple. Good luck with your “Black Themes only” magazine.

Did you know “Essence” magainze is owned by a WHite company “Time Inc”? And did you know Johnson hair products, Motown and Black Entertainment Television (BET) are White owned? You need to rethink your whole pov. It is full of holes like your brain.

Oprah might have achieved all she ever wanted and beyond, I am not going to go blindly worshipping her like some people here. I am calling a spade a spade ,its my opinion and I have the right to voice it.

+++++++Anger Amber and Silly Sinna - Get off the White people’s computer and cut it out. Dell and Apple are not Black owned so boycott them and leave us be. Stop catering to White people by using computers created by White people.

don’t like oprah. don’t like rosie either. fat cows.

******************
“Black Themes only” magazine?! LMFAO ROTFL! Now I’ve REALLY heard it all from you. Like I said before, I’m not going to resort to fighting or name calling with faceless strangers online, but you really aren’t that bright. Nowhere did I say my magazine was going to be “black themed” only. LOL. This is what I’m talking about when I was talking about you assuming and then putting your thoughts off on others….that’s a sign of a serious mental condition. I would look into that if I were you, for real. It’s not healthy to keep going on and on like this. LOL. You’ll give yourself high blood pressure.

TLC - Thank you for agreeing with what Amber and I were saying. Damn it took you getting all stressed out
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Hahahahahaha! No, you just became a coward and pretending you were saying what I was saying all along. You said Oprah caters to White people and that you both only knew one Black person who liked her. Be courageous and admit to your shennanigans, or go back to Junior college and learn something for real. Dummies. I love it!

Amber: according to your outlook on life, your magazine needs to be black themed. Cause you claim Oprah caters only to Whites and then,….oh! only to Upper class Black folks. THAT is what you said. So you can’t say that and try to have a diverse magazine. no, you need to have one that caters to Crackhead Hookers. That is what is authentic in your biased and uneducated mind. Just cause you went to school does not mean you are educated. You’re dumb as a bat. Good luck with your mag, like I said, if Susan Taylor did not figure out how to keep the magazine Black after 30 or so years, then good luck to you. And her magazine is full of black female stories only but at the end fo the day, if the big man making the big bucks is the White guy at Time, Inc - what is the point? At least Oprah owns her stuff. Owns it like nobody’s business and THAT tears away at you - jealous cow! Get lost. You’re bitter. Get over it. And wke up.

#63 - And you’re an adult?! Maybe you should be the one to go back to Junior college….

So Amber, why are YOU still here answering?

I have never been to JC. Went straight from a top NY private high school to one of the best colleges in the country. Sorry to disappoint you.

Team Lara Croft - Jealousy is not in my handbook, sweetheart. I don’t knock anyone’s hustle, because that’s exactly what this is - her hustle. Jealousy is a vice that doesn’t pay to have. Neither does being an adult who sits on blogs all day living through other people and getting POed when everyone doesn’t agree with her. So you keep on believing that everything you say is what I believe…I don’t want to take that from you. You need it too much.

America is a sad place. An honest thread about a great achievement, possibly the first woman to own her own network, and all some people can do is say mean and negative things about her. Oprah, I am not Black or White and I am proud of you! You are the American Dream. God bless America.

TLC

I will say this though - I admire how you keep at it when you really believe what you’re saying. Parlay that into something constructive (other than being on here getting heated over an opinion) and you’re going places. Ciao :)

Or did it go over your head like everything else? i fyou have problems with people on blogs all day, why are you still here for God’s sake? Huh? …Run along now…you surely have more important things to do..

Thanks for the advice. I take it to heart. You’re a true sweetie. You have a human and kind side. Thank you for sharing. And on your end, learn to accept that some Black women will be more successful and richer and better off than you and don’t hold it in and let it tear away at your heart. And good luck on your quest to not cater to White people. Hope it works out well for you in your everyday life. Keep living the dream. With utmost respect and love,

omg what is this world coming to. this woman is slowly taking over the world with a caring smile on her face. The last thing she needs is her own channel…booooooooo

Not so much a thing about whether or not Oprah is all pro black. Who cares about that? It should never be a race thing. I do however have a problem with how she sends most of her “help” money to the other countries such as Africa ect and you never ever see how shes been helping homeless, needy, starving children, girls, women or anyone in her own home U.S.A. When she starts doing that I will then feel better about her. *Remember to feed your own hungry children before you feed your neighbors children and God knows we have plenty of hungry children in America.

excuse me Jim n0.74, Oprah IS feeding her children, her ancester children, shes black you know and when she helps those in africa she is helping her heritage, you know we african americans are kin to africans and very proud of it, if i had money like that i would help them also, its her money she can do what she likes and anyway what about Leeona Hemsley that ***** that left all her money to a cat and you know damn well that cat wont get that $. but idiots like that noone says anything … bravo oprah…………

Congratulations BUT

Good maybe we will see more black women on television
Maybe more shows with black men with black women will air.
Maybe more positive and interesting black women living their life.( I think all black women are interesting, poor, uneducated as well as rich and educated we all have a story to tell, and it’s time we told it.
