How far must your blood be diluted to stop being “black”? It’s truly amazing for a European like me!!!
Is there still a stigma attached to black ancestry in the US? In this day and age???

For me , like for all Europeans, Wentworth Miller is a WHITE man with white, black, arab and cherokee ancestors.

Ignorant due to the fact that you’re disregarding that he said that he’s neither white nor black. Educate yourself and Google his 2003 interviews he did when he worked on The Human Stain. He said that he identify with his charactor. Well his charactor is black but looks like a white person. Oh and how can he be white when he’s sitting next to his black cousin? You are generalizing because he may appear white to all the people that YOU know but definitely not all Europeans, assuming that by european you meam white. I know of people that don’t immidiatly see him as a white person especially on pictures he appears darker like the unphoto shopped version of last years People most beautiful picture, the one with his hand on head, or the first PB 3 promo picture which were use before the season started. He’s wearing a black hoodie on the pic. Will someone please be kind and link these two picture as I can’t remember where I saw them on the net. Anyway, bottom line, Wentworth Milles is neither white or black, he’s mixed raced or biracial.

nadia #205, are you also european? have you seen black people in the united states? does every black person have dark skin? obviously “black” means people of african descent, african americans. not all are “dark”. some are light, as light as went.
renata, that’s the problem, you’re european, not american. my suggestion to you is to read black history so you have a better understanding of race in america. there have always been people as fair complexioned as went that were black. that is a fact.

For those who still think that a drop of “black “blood makes you black , one question: If Went (so-called “black or bi-racial”) marries a white woman will his children still be bi-racial? And their children , until the end of times?
There is NO RACE! Black skin was developped by nature as a protection from the sun. OUR ancestors were ALL BLACK and our skins became paler as we migrated to the north. FACT.

Because saying that someone is “mixed-race” is attaching importance to the fact. Particularly when someone is white. It still reeks of white supremacy as if you had to say “Well, he may look white BUT he’s got “black” blood!”.
If Went had never mentioned his ancestry (and he never did before “The Human Stain”) would you say he’s mixed, just by looking at him? No, of course!
One can be proud of his diverse origins (it’s the case for most of us - when we know where we come from, of course!) but singling a white person by saying “You know he has “black” blood”, is racist to me.

For me Went is white, his cousin is brown, people in Togo are black etc… Only the skin colour differs and it’s only important when you have to describe them.
Genetically speaking, you may be closer to a black Zulu than to your white neighbour.

Sorry to disagree totally with you! If Wentworth has children with a white woman and his children are colored because a recessive gene going back to his great-great grandfather gives this child a dark complexion, this child will be discribed as brown. Full stop. I repeat THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS RACE. A man can be described as white, black, brown , yellow in complexion, but he cannot be assigned to a race because his ancestors belong to another ethnicity! It is plain silly.

By the way: my grandmother s mother was Syrian .I live in Germany, my parents are 100% German, I don’t know Syria, never been there.

wow. there are some really ignorant people posting here. do yourself a favor, people. go to your nearest bookstore and pick up the book A Slave No More: Two Men Who Escaped to Freedom, Including THeir Own Narratives of Emancipation by David W. Blight. take a look at the pictures of both men while you’re at. maybe then some of you—all of you wondering how can went’s father be black because he’s light, etc? will understand why being black in america isn’t solely about skin color. after you’ve looked at blighit’s book, go over to the african-american interest section of the bookstore and read some more. read about the achievements of black people. flip through some pictorials about black americans so some of you can finally get it that black people come in all colors and the lighter ones among us aren’t any “less black” than the darker ones. *eyeroll*
then, maybe some of you will stop making racist, offensive statements like oh, his father is not really black because he’s light, went’s probably only a tiny bit black, etc.
