OlderHEATH LEDGER DEAD AT 28
Heath Ledger has been found dead in his SoHo apartment in New York City.
He was found in his bed by his housekeeper at 3:35 PM ET, reportedly surrounded by pills.
The 28-year-old actor has a 2-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose, with former fiancee Michelle Williams.
Just this past weekend, Heath was in London filming the Terry Gilliam-directed movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. The last pictures of Heath were taken this past Saturday–he was dressed in a clown costume.
The Australian-born actor was nominated for an Academy Award in 2005 for his role as gay cowboy Ennis in Brokeback Mountain. He also finished filming his role as The Joker in the new Batman film, The Dark Knight.
UPDATE 1: According to The New York Times, “At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play. Officials said pills were found near the body.”
UPDATE 2: Heath was found in his bed, naked and face down. There were prescription bottles left uncovered near the deceased–prescription sleeping medication.

In an interview he admited to sitting alone in a hotel for days and letting himself unravel to prep for the role in Batman. he’s always been a pretty hardcore method actor. That just goes to show how dangerous it can be when you let yourself mentally go for a role.

From what I’ve heard, the pills were sleeping pills and it really sounds accidental. I just think its disrespectful with everyone coming up with assumptions that he’s a druggie which is something I wouldn’t believe unless there are straight up facts. Please look into that before more people blame the hollywood drug scene for the death of such a great actor who really had no part in it.

I was whatching on T.V last night this show about people whose life really went to crap after they won the lotto and how they regreted ever having won it and that got me wondering how many stars that we look up to wish they could give it all up.
If I remember correctly Angelina Jolie went thru a time after first gaining fame were she was very depressed and lost and actually contemplated suicide. I also remember Brad Pitt went into seclusion for awhile and told Oprah that there was a time when he was depressed. Anyways all this to say we need to appriciate our struggles and our seemly some times unglamorous lives because sometimes the live of the rich and the famous is not all its cracked up to be.
I hope and pray he has finally found rest, it is so sad he has a lovely little girl.And i know waht death feels like and it is not pleeasnt in any way shape or form.
This life is so unpredictable , and i feel celebrities should form like a group or something and start digging into this issues of drug and all, it is getting too much.

you cant accidentally overdose on sleeping pills. you have to quite a bit for those things to kill you. i know because my brother took an overdose when his ***** of an ex girlfriend falsely accused him of rape. the community shunned him and he took a whole bottle full out of despair because no one would believe him, but luckily my mum found him in time in the kitchen unresponsive. the ***** ex finally admitted it had been untrue when it all got out of hand, and she was sentenced to 35 days in prison for wasting police time and giving a false report. hes now much better and is thankful his life didn’t end due to that *****

I heard on Fox News that during an interview he did for In Touch! Magazine very recently that he was “bothered” by the Joker. Heath has received a lot of praise for this role but it may very well be something that contributed to his death.
Heath said the Joker was something “demonic” because the Joker truly, honestly, does not care about anyone. He’s been a great actor and we’ve seen the depths that he can go in characters, but maybe as the Joker it went too far and he was unable to recover.

My condolences to Michelle and their daughter Mathilda and Heath Ledger’s family. I hope they get all the love and support they need in the coming days and years. My heart goes out to little Mathilda who is just 2 years of age.
Heath Ledger had an overdose of sleeping pills but there is no evidence that Heath was into drugs. Clearly he was depressed.
In Magnolia’s excellent post, it seems fame and achievement can trigger depression. My guess is that this depression may have contributed to the break up of his marriage to Michelle, and not been caused by the break up.

All the good ones like Heath go first, with the exception of Anna Nicole Smith the f*cking b*tch whos habitual substance abuse during pregnancy made her daughter bog-eyed and retarded.she deserved to die and the way the media worshipped her afterwards was so moronic and hypocritical since they bashed regularly before her death.
I am shocked. I adored Heath Ledger, thought he was one of the better actors in HW. So sad.

My heart literally dropped when I saw this. It’s so unfortunate that this had to happen-he was such a great talent, an actor who had a great career ahead of him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, and Michelle and his daughter Mathilda. This is so sad. So, so sad. :(
I didn’t know him, obviously, but my heart goes out to him. I feel that I might cry, too. Not to be unsympathetic, but this shows us that no matter how much money we have, it doesn’t make up happy. It is what’s on the inside that counts, corny and lame, but true. He must have been feeling something that not even the tabloids know about.

OMG. I have never been so shocked over a celebrity’s death in my lifetime… this was so unexpected and heartbreaking and horrible. He was such an amazing actor and I always adored, respected, and admired him. I can’t believe this. I’m still thinking that he’s gonna come back… but he’s not. =( I’m seriously so… sad.
America needs to stop relying on so many different concoctions of drugs to function. This is another very unfortunate mistake. It’s so easy to destroy your body with drugs.
Who knows if it was pneumonia or the sleeping pills or a combination of both. His immune system was already compromised.

It’s funny, but when I read your comment, I felt the same way. Very very sad but not hugely surprised, and all we see are snippets of a celeb’s life in interviews and photos. I felt like he was his character in Brokeback Mountain even in his real life, which I know sounds really weird.
It takes weeks to get a tox screen back ~ and his family has chosen to say it was an accident, so we should respect that. Doesn’t matter once the person is gone. Funny how people seem to know what killed him….
Lest we forget how long it took to realize what actually killed Anna Nicole? Longer than one afternoon, for damn sure.

I saw 10 things I hate about you the day after my own father was killed in a car accident. I needed to escape reality and thought going to a movie was a good way to do that. Heath’s performance was incredible and he really kept my mind off of everything that was going on. I’ve always wanted to meet him to thank him for that and now I never will =( My friend actually saw him in NY about six months ago and she asked him for an autograph and he graciously signed it and talked to her for a couple of minutes. She said he was soooo nice and even better looking in person. I feel terrible for little Matilda but she should know that her father loved her very much and will always be looking down on her. R.I.P.
