I am shocked. I adored Heath Ledger, thought he was one of the better actors in HW. So sad.

he didnt deserve to die, but he brought it upon himself. ima miss him though.

While all anyone can do is HOPE his death was an accident - no one, not the NYPD nor the NY Coroner has ruled this man’s death an accidental OD until the do an autopsy. And that wouldn’t be until probably tomorrow at least.

TMZ is full of crap. They’re just making stuff up now. As are other sites.

They can only guess if there was no note left at the scene that it wasn’t a suicide however may people email there notes or mail them sail mail to family and loved ones - so…

Let’s just give Heath some respect here and mourn his loss and respect his family and stop guessing what happened.

tragic loss for the acting community and of course for his beloved family….his poor daughter of only 2 years may only have faded memories of the father she once knew. So so so sad….I can’t believe this!

I hope the pap’s let the family mourn in peace - if it is true that the family heard on the news that is unforgivable and they need to back-off they need to respect their privacy - especially in these times

Oh my, I am literally in tears right now. I guess like everyone I am so shocked by this tragic news. Funny thing was I just saw the The Brothers Grim last weekend for the first time and it reminded me of what a great actor he is or rather was.

I feel for Michelle, baby Matilda and the rest of his family and friends.

This is such a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. It was also just reported on the news his actual cause of death was from pneumonia. Please stop with the accusations.

Either way, please don’t take drugs for every little thing. I’m sure everything is running through everyone’s mine–should I have been there with him when he had pneumonia? Was he depressed? Who really knows. America is so over-medicated and Hollywood is such a freakin’ mess at time. This may be a terrible terrible accident but it is definitely a devastating tragedy.

Wow! I went home and me mom said that Heath is dead and I was in so much shock. I was like, “are you sure? The guy in Brokeback Mountain?” So I went onto the homepage and pages just splatered on the site of Heath’s death. Well all we can do is just pray for his family, Michelle and Matilida. I really wish that people in this life could come back to life because if it was just an accident well obvisouly someone upstairs wanted him so much more. All we can do is hope for the best for everyone around him and his surroundings but now each time I watch a movie of his I may cry. God rest your soul, Heath! God bless all of you!

He had pneumonia according to Jared/s new info on the main page. he was probably taking anit-biotics for that as well. He should have been in the hospital, not at “home”,

In reality, we all die of because of heart failure…bottom line. When a good friend of mine died from too many drugs, that was the “family’s story”. HIs family, obviously, out of love, issued a statement without really knowing why he died. Is an accidental overdose considered a suicide and how does one tell the difference?

And, in the long run, what the hell does it matter anyway? No one will ever know, except his family, and that is how it should be. So, yeah it will be spun until the snow melts. Let’s just let him be in peace.

Yo this is Anna Nicole all over….If he was sick how come he was in London this past Saturday and then back in NYC today or maybe even yesterday? You don’t get on a plane when you have pneumonia. Maybe he didn’t know and was diagnosed when he got back to NYC? I feel sick.

Heath’s dead was surely an accidental overdose. He said in a recent interview about his Batman movie that the role he was playing was very exhausting because it was an extremely difficult role to portray (the Joker) and it cost him a lot of sleep. He often got tired and ill and was reportedly suffering from pneumonia as well as exhaustion when he died. This film role is what did him in. Since Heath is a brilliant actor, putting 110% into his roles, the complicated and scary antagonistic role cost him his life. Rest in Peace, Heath. You were a brilliant actor.

I am so sick and tired of hearing people dying unnecessarily. Now were are sitting her waiting for Britney or Amy Winehouse to suffer the same fate.

Somehow, I agree that his death was accidental, not suicide. If he’s taking anti-biotics and sleeping pills (could have adverse reactions to each other), and then couple that with stress traveling back and forth London and NYC shooting movies and what-have-yous, I’d be surprised if his body could still take that much torture. With a soaring career, suicide would probably be the last thing on his mind, unless he was doing a Kurt Cobain-Janis Joplin-Jimi Hendrix death at 27 thing (he’s overshoot by a year). My heart goes out to his daughter. He’s such a great actor, and a good dad. Rest in peace, Heath.

A friend of mine died suddenly of meningitis. Her best friend (a mutual friend of mine) told our class she looked so much better and would be back in 2 days. She died the following day.

Pneumonia, meningitis, etc. these illnesses need to be monitored and taken seriously. I’m so sad he was so dedicated to his work he over-exhausted himself and it was probably all too easy to OD when he simply wanted some rest. I’ll be waiting for the medical results. I’m so sorry no one was with him. May his soul RIP and may his family be blessed.

I still can’t believe it. It’s just not sinking in. I keep waiting for the story to break that it was all just one huge miscommunication and he’s fine.

We’re the same age and I’m Australian. I remember him in Home & Away and have followed his career ever since. So I feel as though I’ve grown up watching him.

I’m shattered. I can’t even begin to imagine how his family is feeling.

I think the pills were sleeping pills right? It may not have been the pills that did him in, but the pneumonia, especially if he was walking around with it and not in a hospital. It could have been a reaction between the different medications.

I read that NYtimes article that someone posted. He said himself that he took more than required pills but that they didn’t work. Poor thing probably tried to make it work by upping the dosage on his own. to the outsider, it looks like a suicide attempt because the bottles are nearly empty. In reality all poor Heath wanted was simply that the medications work as they were supposed to.

I was in total shock. I hadnt heard anything all day and i was just sitting at home getting ready to take a shower i was watching clean house on style network and i changed the channel to E news.. i saw it at the bottom of the screen my mouth dropped, I started to cry.

I already stated my initial sadness and I understand all that. I would write my statement to you all over again. I was just wondering if it was sincere. You somewhat clarified it, however rudely, but it’s whatever, and we obviously suffered a miscommunication. Maybe because I had a similar thing happen to a friend maybe that’s why I thought it was rude but whatever, this thread isn’t about me but I’m free to make my statements and opinions as you are free to make yours. Death is death is what were both saying essentially.

I find that the ones who say suicide is selfish aren’t the ones who have experienced depression first hand. In my opinion its possibly one of the worst diseases a person could have to suffer through. And it doesn’t just affect you but the people that surround you as well. And its something that you can’t battle on your own. As someone said, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Unfortunately depression clouds your mind and thats very difficult to see.

Although I am definitely NOT judging or speculating as to whether Heath Ledger committed suicide, people should be very careful about how they talk about things like this. While I do think that suicide is a selfish act, don’t judge people who have committed suicide because none of us have ever been to that point where we felt it was the only option. Depression is a horrible horrible thing and sadly some things in this world are worse than death.

But I sincerely hope that Heath did not commit suicide and thankfully its sounding like it was only an accident. But lets just wait and see what the coroner says.

This really sucks. A week ago to the day we lost another actor and another one. This is really crazy. My heart goes out to his family and friends and loved ones. I feel bad for Michelle. I hope she can stay strong for Matilda. Stay strong Michelle. it also has to be hard to see Matilda because she is like clone of her father.

I reiterate that if any of you should develop bronchitis or even worse pneumonia you should have it seen toimmediately before the situation gets any worse. It is definitely akin to drowning in your own fluids. Your lungs get clogged up and you can’t breathe.

This is clearly not a case of suicide or accidental death. It is sudden death from an illness untreated.

Wow…it’s been hours now since I heard and I’m still in so much shock over this. I am right there with those who’ve said they’re somehow waiting to hear this is not true. It’s so sad.

Heath was such a talented actor with so much promise. I own several of his movies, as I’ve enjoyed his performances immensely.

When you have pneumonia, you have trouble breathing. Heath was also a smoker and someone who always had sinus problems aggravated by his smoking. It would not be unusual for someone like him to not be eating properly, or getting enough sleep, and getting worse. So he pops pills to feel better and keep going. He takes sleeping pills bcz he can’t sleep…but bcz he has pneumonia, he is having breathing problems aggravated by his smoking…and that is why he cannot sleep. He can’t breathe. So he takes more sleeping pills. It could have been the interaction of various meds, too. This is all so very very sad. I hate all the nasty specualtion. Heath would have been so disgusted at this.

i REALLY cant believe what happened, i mean, i just woke up this morning and my Dad came in and said “morning Sweety, i have some bad news 4 u, Heath Ledger was found dead, it was a drug overdose, possibly suicide.” i stayed i bed and just cried.

I really wasn’t a fan of his, but this is just so surreal and sad. However he died, whether from suicide, overdose, pneumonia, etc doesn’t matter. The fact remains that he was too young and this wasn’t his time. I feel SO bad for that little girl.

this is so sad he was the last person i was expecting to die i feel so sad that his little girl wont be able to know him and that michelle will have to be a single parent ;(
