A rep for Heath Ledger’s family says Heath’s death was accidental.
The cops told the Ledger family that there is no evidence that he may have committed suicide, reports TMZ.
His family says he was not that kind of person to have taken his own life.
Heath was sick with pneumonia when he died today in NY. His autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
Former fiancee Michelle Williams is currently on a plane en route to NYC.

Let him rest in peace. There has to be a toxicology study before one can determine if it was an accident or suicide. These studies take weeks to complete. If the family choose to say accidental, then respect it. The man is gone, and let us hope he is in peace.
Remember how long it took to tell what killed Anna NIcole? Not one afternoon, that’s for sure.
tragic loss for the acting community and of course for his beloved family….his poor daughter of only 2 years may only have faded memories of the father she once knew. So so so sad….I can’t believe this!

Oh my, I am literally in tears right now. I guess like everyone I am so shocked by this tragic news. Funny thing was I just saw the The Brothers Grim last weekend for the first time and it reminded me of what a great actor he is or rather was.
I feel for Michelle, baby Matilda and the rest of his family and friends.

how do they know it wasnt suicide, were they there?: if there were empty pill bottles then it was obviously suicide. how can it be an accident, it doesnt make sense. suicide is definately more plausible than pneumonia related accident
nobody thinks their family member is ever ‘the kind of person to take their own life’ but in actuality it happens when you least expect it and to people who seem happy and gregarious on the outside but inside, they are miserable. you attempt suicide out of desperation. depressed people don’t reach out to family and friends, they gradually die a slow mental death because they wont or cant reach out for help. So im thinking heath didn’t tell his family about his personal hell so obviously they will claim that he isn’t the type to commit suicide. i think his family are in denial which is only natural but their statement is premature, they should have left it a few days.

This is such a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. It was also just reported on the news his actual cause of death was from pneumonia. Please stop with the accusations.

Either way, please don’t take drugs for every little thing. I’m sure everything is running through everyone’s mine–should I have been there with him when he had pneumonia? Was he depressed? Who really knows. America is so over-medicated and Hollywood is such a freakin’ mess at time. This may be a terrible terrible accident but it is definitely a devastating tragedy.

i’m so sad. i can’t explain it now, but it is trully heartbreaking. he was an excellent actor, with excellent choices of movies. it’s a terrible loss for the films industry and for all the fans and, specially, his family. i can’t believe that i’m this sad :/
let’s we all remember him though his awesome movies (brokeback mountain just got a little sadder to me right now). rest in peace, Heath, you deserve it and thank you for everything.

Wow! I went home and me mom said that Heath is dead and I was in so much shock. I was like, “are you sure? The guy in Brokeback Mountain?” So I went onto the homepage and pages just splatered on the site of Heath’s death. Well all we can do is just pray for his family, Michelle and Matilida. I really wish that people in this life could come back to life because if it was just an accident well obvisouly someone upstairs wanted him so much more. All we can do is hope for the best for everyone around him and his surroundings but now each time I watch a movie of his I may cry. God rest your soul, Heath! God bless all of you!
