Good for Casey and Cate. Julie Christie will win, cuz Helen Mirren is not nominated this year.
the academy sucks,too much politics,
Is Michael Clayton any good? I haven’t seen it.
No Country for Old Men is going to sweep this year.
Too bad for James McAvoy and Keira Knightley… they got snobbed for giving one of the best performances of their careers! Still they’re young, so there’s a lot more to come.
I hope JUNO wins! It’s about time a ‘witty comedy’ film actually wins an Oscar! Good luck Ellen Page. =)
I think Daniel Day Lewis is going to win. He’s a brilliant actor and very humble.
I love Cate Blanchett- but Elizabeth and the Golden Age was overacted and awful. That space should have gone to Jolie or Knightley instead.
bbbbbbbbbbwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahha
no jolie.
JUNO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ellen page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that’s great
Very disappointed that Angie did not get nominated. Her fans are prolly more bummed than she is, as her goals in life are stretch so much farther than collecting little trophies.
The ratings this year will be dismal, to say the least, as the power couple of Hwood won’t be gracing the RC.
I don’t really get the Ellen Page nom. Yes, she’s a fresh talent and was wonderful in Juno, but Oscar worthy? Not IMHO.
Oh well, life goes on…..
OMG! WTF! Angie did not get a nomination???????????????
Cate took her position. Hollywood does not like Angie and Brad, if you ask me. I’m shock people!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I blame it on the Newsweek curse. Last year it was Brad now it’s Angie turn. I want the strike to go on so the Oscar with suffer the same fate as the Golden Globes. This is outrageous!!!!! How can they overlooked Angie’s performance in AMH!
Totally UNFAIR!!! I’m going to scream!!!!!!!!!!
I thought James McAvoy was going to get a nomination.
It’s funny how Atonement doesn’t have any major nomination but is nominated for Best Picture. Usually, if a movie gets a Best Picture nomination, it followers with a best director nomination. Strange.

Personally, I think it was overrated. The guy next to me ate his popcorn and snored through the next 45 minutes, until it was too loud and my hubby nudged him.
GC was as good as GC can be….don’t think he will beat DDLewis though.
I think the academy snubbed Angie and Brad because they did not attend last year, which automatically brings them lower ratings. If they think last year was bad. If Brad and Angie don’t show watch out. I know it probably bothers Brad and Angies fans more than it does them. What happened to Denzel? another mistake on the Academy’s part.
YIPPIEEEEEH - Viggo is nominated!!
Whether he will win is a something completely different thing …
Thanks Julianne for feedback. I’ll saved my $4 by not renting MC.
# 3 angel @ 01/22/2008 at 9:35 am the academy sucks,too much politics,

Totally agree. I wonder how much of Ellen Page’s nom is tied to Box Office dollars???
I am not saying that she didn’t do a great job in Juno, but she played a teenager facing pregnancy…and the role just did not demand the range that Angelina faced in protraying Marianne Pearl.
I’ve always thought that it is hard to judge actors when play such diversified roles, and I gotta say there’s alot more behind this than I will pretend to understand. Just will say that I am disappointed, because I fully expected Angelina to be nominated.
ANGELINA DIDNT GET THE NOD BECAUSE SHE WASNT GOOD ENOUGH PEOPLE. Geezzzzzz!
One day fans are going on and on about how awesome it is she will probably be winning an oscar. Then when she doesnt get the nod, it suddenly becomes “its all politics”, “the academy doesnt like her”, ” she is too busy anyway” blah blah blah.
Get over it…… the bad wig and fake french accent did her in
I recalled last year rating was very low. It was much lower than the year before that. The GG rating last year was good.
I am now praying for the end of the writers strike. I must see Johnny Depp win.
amie #19, I agree with you. What’s so hard to get about “her acting sucks”? Funny, how attitudes and opinions change when it doesn’t work out to the Brangelina benefit, isn’t it?
Congrats to all the nominees. They deserve it. I, for one, will be watching, since I won’t have to look at the smug face of Angelina Jolie and her little lost boy!
Dint know that Brad wrote Ratatouille.
I am happy for Cate Blanchett - i hope she gets both!
She has to play a drugged out, crazy, lesbian beatch to win an award. In other words, herself.
GO johnny wooo hoooo
I really hope Marion Cottillard will win because she was stunning in la vie en rose
The academy sucks however, it was smart enough to see through the shallow, worthless performances by Brad Stupitt and Angelina Ska ka lina. Yeah!
LOL at Jolie fans
They have been claiming like there are no other actresses in the world other than Jolie to get the Oscar …but seriously its true she doesnt deserve an oscar
Ops i read Brad Pitt not Bird.
My mistake sorry.
No Denzel Washington for “American Gangsta”…not even Russell Crowe, which was his best role in years!
I’m not going to enjoy this year’s Oscars. Lots of snubs.
james mcavoy should have gotten a nomination. i’ve never seen him in any other movie though…so i’m not sure how this performance rated in regards to his other performances. but in this movie he was wonderful. atonement was such a touching and heartbreaking movie….very haunting. i’m sad he didn’t get a nod.

I left something out of this

…… the bad wig, fake french accent, and two facial expressions did her in
As a fan of Angelina’s who thought her performance in AMH was very powerful, I’m disappointed that she wasn’t nominated. But, she’s had plenty of recognition from other movie buffs and critics. Not every deserving actress can get nominated, not every deserving actress gets to win. (Remember Gwyneth and Cate way back??)
Let’s not call foul on the voters. in cricket, you are supposed to respect the umpires, and we should do so now.
I can’t beleive it ? Laura Linney was not included in any critics award, she was in the list instead of Angelina ? oscar suck !
Oscar was too politics, I notice none of the war related movies were included.
stefanie @ 01/22/2008 at 9:55 am

Excellent performances
Too bad Angelina is not there. I wont say you suck but you have favourites. Favouritism going on here boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobbbbbbbooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
bbbbbpoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I loooove the sudden change of opinion regarding the Oscars, by the fans, now that Angie wasn’t nominated.
The Oscars “used” to be so wonderful, blah, blah, blah…..now it’s political, biased, etc etc etc…..
I hope none of the their heads flew off changing their minds soooo quickly and so completely! Ha!
most ugle, stupid and the worst award…
where are angie and brad????????????
where is JAMES mac….??
or keira????
I really have no words…

No, the wig and accent is only a part of it. Her ability to transform herself into one of her best friend’s worst week of her life is what earned all the critical acclaim she HAS received.
If you saw both Angelina and Ellen play their respective roles, can you honestly say that Ellen had to even get close to the range of emotion that Jolie had to? No, no, nooooooo.
Ellen Page is a new, wonderfully talented actor, but I just don’t think her performance was worthy of an Oscar nom.
The other person that played a role with alot more range and demands is Kiera Knightly.
If you (like Patti) just don’t like Angelina, OK. But, it is what it is, and life goes on.
Oscar ratings will plummet cuz even if you like the JP’s or not, the red carpet does….
I wish children would not post on this blogs. It’s so unfortunate that the adults have to tolerate such immature and narrowminded rants. The Academy is like any other political machine with much less to do with real talent recognition and much more to do with the alliances, overdue compensations and PR(public relations). It’s sad that you have know how to play the game to get recognition. It shouldn’t matter if this person is nominated then we need to shut this person out or they have an award already and we this person doesn’t or if we nominate them then they might steal the show or take the thunder from our ego salicious academy friendly friend…It’s sad. The Academy has lost all credibility for me because I don’t like politics and I don’t appreciate the good ole boy system and I won’t accept bias or prejudice on any level. BOYCOTT the Oscars and support the WGA(Writer’s Guild Asssociation)…
))i do so the mistake that you…pingy-pongy
um, where’s denzels name?!? wow..
ellen page rocked. angie did not - no nom! lmaoo
depp, for sweet garbage??? cant be serious!
overall, there were some surprises, but past history proves that the Academy will do what they want in regards to nominees…
a lot of people are fuming over Angelina’s snub…I think the argument of politics or that they dislike them is a mute point…after all, the Academy has more motive to dislike past winners like Sean Penn and Russell Crowe who have publicly criticized the Academy members and their decisions…I think their fans are stretching it a bit by making excuses…
Overall, I liked Angelina in AMH, but I was more impressed by the performance of her costar who played the General. He blew me away! I do believe that if Cate Blanchett wouldn’t have been nominated for Elizabeth, then Angelina may have grabbed a nod…but I wasn’t completely surprised by the snub…
And as for Brad, no one ever put him the race for any nomination…I heard positive things about AOJJ, but a lot of people said that unless you were interested in the topic or love dialogue films (as I do), then it was a snooze fest and way too long…so not disappointing there…
I was so proud that Juno received recognition…it is time for a well written, witty comedy to get some wins…and I was thrilled for Daniel Day Lewis and Viggo Mortensen (I loved Eastern Promises)!!
Interesting nod choices though…oh well, this year doesn’t seem to be as enthusiastic as past year shows…I may skip it all together…
I hope the writters strike will keep the Oscars off the air and all the actors at home. WAY TOO much is made of winning and loseing. Many those winners never act in a good role again , making their big win a shot in the dark. How do you know with a new face if the role was just easy for them or they can really act?
For me I will do what I have been doing for the past few years-watch something else.

Well said. You are so right, not every deserving actor gets nominated. I guess I have zoned in on the Angelina factor, only because I am biased, but reading your thoughts have brought it into perspective for me. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
Johnny Depp better win for best actor
I can’t believe it James was snubbed??? That was a fantastic performance from him, so moving. Keira as well, they were both so good. At least the film was recognised.
if american gangster was nominated then they really would be scraping the bottom of the barrell. no where near crowe of washingtons best peformances.
WTF was Ellen Page nominated?? And they snubbed James McAvoy. What a piece of typical Oscar BS. Granted I’m not a big fan of Jolie sometimes, but I will say this her character had more range than Page’s did. I thought Page came off very wooden and 2D in her role *shrugs*. If any young talent was to be nominated for “actress in a leading role” I was hoping it would be Amy Adams again or Nikki from Hairspray. IMO Ellen Page is overrated, and it will be interesting if she can succeed after Juno. Cause, honestly, thus far and no ill intent to Page. Right now her acting in X-Men 3 is basically similar to her acting style in Juno.
This is why I like the Golden Globes better……..
Damn you voters. Where is ANGELINA??
‘Johnny Depp better win for best actor ‘
I would not count on that-his nom was a thank you for his big box office.
maybe somebody else is proving they’ve overdosed on the Brad and Angelina hype- very amusing snub indeed!!
Angelina Jolie already won an Oscar for “Girl Interrupted” so it’s not like she hasn’t been recognized. I’m not saying therefore she should never win another one but she’s still young there’s plenty of time. Besides as someone has pointed out, I don’t think she really cares about the Oscars.
As far as this years Oscars here are my picks:
Best Supporting Actress: Cate Blanchett. This kind of bugs because she already (deservedly) won an Oscar just a couple of years ago for “The Avatior”. I wish they would spread the wealth around a bit more. Plus her playing Bob Dylan was just stunt casting no matter how brilliant her performance may have been.
I would love to see it to Ruby Dee for “American Gangster.” She was very good in the movie and she has had a long and distinguished career. I would also be happy if Saoirse Ronan won for “Atonement.” She was excellent in the film and I think the Academy is due for another Anna Paquin type upset.
Best Supporting Actor: Javier Bardeem this IMHO is quite simply no contest. I have a lot of unresolved qualms with “No Country for Old Men”. But he was terrifyingly brilliant or should I say brilliantly terrifying. Either way he’s been sweeping ALL the criitics award and just like Jennifer Hudson was last year he seems unstoppable.
Best Actress:Julie Christie. Another past Oscar for “Darling” in 1965. So I think more then enough time has past. I would love to see Ellen Page win for “Juno. But you have a woman playing an Alzheimer’s patient vs. A woman playing a pregnant teenager. I think its clear who the Academy will go for.
Best Actor: Daniel Day Lewis who won for “My Left Foot” in 1989, again I think enough time has past. But I’m hoping for Johnny Depp for “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” This should be his year in my opinion.
Best Director: Joel and Ethan Coen. The ending of “No Country for Old Men” ticked me off so badly where I went through a peroid where I said I will never see a Coen Brothers movie again. But I’ve gotten over that peroid of insanity. These guys are brilliant.
Nothing would make me happier then if Jason Reitman got for “Juno” but that’s not going to happen.
Best Picture: “No Country for Old Men” Despite my love/hate “relationship” with this film I can’t deny that is in many ways absolutely brilliant. My personal preference would be for “Juno” followed by “Atonement. But just as 2006 was Martin Scorsese’s year I have a feeling that 2007 belongs to the Coen Brothers.

Thank you. My reaction was the same….WTF…? Juno could have been a movie on Lifetime if you ask me.
Keira and James were royally ripped off. Don’t think the Academy stuffed azzzes like Kiera very much….
NO ONE WILL BE WATCHING THIS YEAR. IT GETS WORSE EACH YEAR
I’m so happy Keira Knightly got snubbed
And please haters don’t think a lack of one Oscar nod to Angelina makes her a terrible actress or she won’t get one in the future. Put down the hatorade
I’m very disappointed for Angelina: she deserved the nomination!!!
I like Cate but 2 nominations are too much!!!….
I didn’t like Michael Clayton it’s a boring movie as well as George’s performance. I’m happy for Julie Christie.
Academy doesn’t understand anything.!!!!
I hope Cate wins!
Angie didn’t get a nomination! How unfair :(
She did an amazing job in A mighty heart! So saaaaaaad
troy: are you saying that because someone is a recent Oscar winner, that they don’t deserve another win even if their performance was stellar? I think that plays right into what people are saying about the Academy
And if I follow your logic, then you are also saying that Julie Christie should win because she played a more dramatic or difficult part than Ellen Page. But let’s flashback to this win- Denzel over Russell Crowe. And that was a tough cop/filthy mouth vs. a schizo genius. Hmmm…who had the bigger challenge that year? I’d say Russell hands down, but he lost out.
People should win because they deserve the win. Not as a makeup Oscar for a past snub or a pass because someone won an Oscar in the previous few years.
Angie wasn´t nominated. next year will be. But it doesn`t matter because she already has an Oscar, 3 Golden Globe, 2 SAG. 23 awards won & 30 awards nominated = Her talent has recognized 53 times, she´s only 32 years old! :)
my favorites:
BEST PICTURE
No Country for Old Men
BEST ACTOR
Daniel Day Lewis, There Will Be Blood
BEST ACTRESS
Julie Christie, Away From Her
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Cate Blanchett, I’m Not There
BEST DIRECTOR
Julian Schnabel, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
# 54 luckyL @ 01/22/2008 at 10:20 am I’m so happy Keira Knightly got snubbed

You read your first line, and then rethink who should put down the “hatorade”. It sounds like “disappointmentade” to me.
Go Amy Ryan for Gone Baby Gone - she was faneffingtastic in that role. That doesn’t mean I hatarading on Cate BTW.
I ‘m quite disappointed that Angie was not nominated. I just can’t believe it ? Oscar suck !
Do any of you realize how many great actors/performances have never been nominated let alone won?! Stop insulting AJ and the rest (past/present) w/this childish notion that believes because a fav wasn’t nominated, they were robbed. I doubt seriously that Keira, Angelina, Helena, OR any of the actors who DID win a nom pick their roles based on its Oscar winability. Jmho
thnx JJ
jpf
No, that’s me stating my personally feelings. Hating is “LOL!! haha JOLIE FANS, NO NOM! HAR HAR”
I merely made a statement; I didn’t say she sucks, or she sucks as an actress, or she’s ugly etc. like the haters so love to do.
I must admit I am surprised at some who were left out. I have to keep reminding myself that that no matter what ’somebody” would have been left out
personal* That was to #60, jewel.
Laura Linney got nominated over Angelina Jolie. Now that’s one of the best decisions they made today. Jolie is a shameful oscar-begger. Maybe she’ll realise that her movie picks pre-Brad were terrible and the AMPA’s will never forget it.
The James McAvoy snub is shameful and over George Clooney, too!
original jpf @ 01/22/2008 at 10:29 am

Great points made about actors taking roles based on the winnability of an Oscar or not. They are grabbed by the role as it speaks to them artistically, not whether or not they will be recognized by any specific group of voters, critics, ec.
Thanks for your perspective!
Atonement and Juno are so overrated!
Kiera’s role was small, the leading role of Saoise Ronan got a nod for supporting actress, which was fine.
Ellen Page wasnt that great! I dont see why she got the nod!
Angelina should have been nominated!
Saw Atonement. Not impressed by the story line or the acting. Over acted, too melodramatic, too obvious an acting job. Keira is a pretty girl but I could never warm up to her acting for some reason. So, it’s fair she didn’t get nominated.
#58 For me it’s not a matter of should or shouldn’t. If a performance is deserving its deserving, so I’m not saying Cate Blanchett SHOULDN”T win I’m just saying it would be nice if someone who hasn’t won were to pull of an upset. But you won’t hear me complaning that not enough time has gone by for Cate to win another award.
And again my prediction for Julie Christie has nothing to do with should or shouldn’t I’m saying what WILL happen not. And yes I think compared to Ellen Page she has what the Academy will percieve as the more difficult and challenging role. Again this is what I think WILL happen not what I think SHOULD happen.
if the oscars are merit-based…Daniel Day Lewis should DEFINITELY win…i just saw There Will be Blood last night and MAN, my jaw dropped on several occasions. I’m a huge movie buff and only a few movies/acting performances have impacted me as this one did. it is seriously one of the best movies i have ever seen, and day-lewis’ acting performance is utterly amazing…he blew me away. i liked him in My Left Foot and Gangs of NY, thought he was solid…but Blood is his best work.
if you haven’t seen the movie, do yourself a favor and GO! it is a great story of humanity, greed and love, or lack thereof…and is emotionally draining and haunting.
oh..as to jolie not getting a nomination…i definitely agree with #19 here…she was lukewarm in her portrayal of Marianne Pearl…i think jolie is an ok actress, but that role just wasn’t for her…and yea, that bad wig and fake french accent did do her in. i think the only scene where she was a bit more than ok was the scene where she lets out that guttural scream….and that’s about it.
Also, Halle Berry’s win for Monster, Denzel’s for Training Day, Paltrow’s Reese’s were not deserving.
well well well…. I think Hollywood trully hates Jolie… Many times they have been just cruel to her… Im not a proffesional to say if she was brilliant or not in her possible nomanated role, but I loved her… So well…
Ive heard a LOTS of GOOD things about Brads performance !!! and that is whats weird…Why he didnt make it? Cause he sleeps with Jolie???? George Clooney…. didnt watch the whole movie… HAD to go out… not my thing..
No, that’s me stating my personally feelings. Hating is “LOL!! haha JOLIE FANS, NO NOM! HAR HAR”
I merely made a statement; I didn’t say she sucks, or she sucks as an actress, or she’s ugly etc. like the haters so love to do.
_______________________________
I was referring to your first statement which was that you were glad that Keira got “snubbed”…..
Had nothing to do with Angeline Jolie, except for the fact that if you heard anything in her fans, it was more disappointment than hate.
Maybe we just didn’t understand one another’s meaning. It’s no big deal anyway,
Did you see Gone Baby Gone? I thought both Casey Afflect and Amy Ryan were oustanding and I am so glad that Amy Ryan got nominated! Cate will prolly win in that category, but at least Ryan was recognized for her role.
keira was playing a spoiled, grumpy british girl… that’s a stretch.
she didn’t deserve a nomination but her co-star did.
ellen page was awesome. she was playing a teenager, which she’s not, so well.
they should have given cate the oscar for the 1st elizabeth not this one.
other than javier, this is a pretty white oscar year…
In my newpaper the movie critic stated that GC was a HW darling and favorite. What does that say about HW? About GC? Angie will survive this. So will Brad. GC needs this. As he has nothing else. Please don’t get angry. Even if the strike is settled no one is going to watch. There aren’t enough big named American actors and actresses to entice people to watch a three plus hour show. Unless they have Brad and Angie as presenters. Casey was nominated for TAOJJ. That is a good thing for him and Plan B. Envy and jealousy are a b*tch. Stay calm and don’t fight with the trolls and haters. They think they have a victory. When the reality is they haven’t won anything. Let them gloat for now. We will see who is the eventual winner. Peace
oh, and Javier Bardem should get the Best Supp. Actor nod…he was great in No Country.
He still gives me the chills when i think about his character!
The Oscars aren’t what the use to be. Can you name who won the last two years. I did not think so.
I am so happy for Sarah Polley and Julie Christie. Especially for Sarah.
Everybody in Canada will routing for her, and rightly so.
I can’t believe Angie didn’t get the nomination! She was unbelievable in that movie, and EVERY critics agreed with me! Laura Linney was not nominated anywhere except Oscar, Cate overacted in Elizabeth. It should have been Julie, Angie, Ellen, Marion, and I don’t care who they pick for the fifth!
It has to be political. Fact that A Mighty Heart was not recognized for anything tells me that they thought it was too controversial. They didn’t want a movie about Muslim tolerance given the nature of how Daniel was killed.
I don’t think anyone with an ounce of brain think Angie’s absence was NOT political or motivated by something other than acting ability. I am not saying this because I am Angie’s fan, but EVERY critics have lauded her performances all YEAR! I will definitely be not watching this stupid show.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS for Tommy Lee Jones for in The Valley of Elah !!!!!!!! one of the best movie i’ve ever seen this year his performances was outstanding ! i was shocked not seeing him nominated at this Sucking Globes , also Theron and Sarandon was ****** awesome in it .
Whoa! No Angie? Total suckage. She was robbed!
If the telecast doesn’t get cancelled I can guarantee that ABC is gonna be pissed off for the second year in a row…no Angie, no Brad to give the ratings a boost…especially after all of this “will there be a show or not” nonsense.
I’m also surprised that Denzel didn’t get a nom. It’s rather strange that these are mostly the same people voting for the SAGS. I guess all those non-acting Academy members was the difference for who got a SAG nom and who got an Oscar nom.
I love how when someone isn’t nominated, it’s because of the ‘political machine’ that is the Oscars. But when they WIN an Oscar, it’s suddenly all about talent who deserves it most. You can’t have it both ways, people. Make up your minds! The Oscars really, truly mean NOTHING. It’s a popularity contest for Hollywood and nothing else.
# 73 opinion @ 01/22/2008 at 10:43 am Also, Halle Berry’s win for Monster, Denzel’s for Training Day, Paltrow’s Reese’s were not deserving.

Neither was Julia Roberts for Erin Brockovich
I am glad Cate is double niminated. And its grate to see Juno acknowledged in many categories. http://arabaquarius.blogspot.com/
Great for Casey (he go a nom) Good for Angelina (she was on the short list. Most actresses can’t even say that) Good for Plan B and Brad Pitt (They showed once again what a great production company to work with - 2 academy noms for productions they were involved with)
lol@ Juno should have been a lifetime movie…that is soo true. The movie wasnt even that great nor was it that funny. You know I giggled here and there.
What happened to Denzel and Angie? I loved the great debaters and American Gangster.Angies performance was great in AMH. The oscars are very white this year.
WHAT? No Jolie or Pitt nomination?
Hahahahahahahahahaha.
I though they were the most popular most likeable better actors in this planet. Hollywood has spoken and is in agreement with the rest of the world.
p.s.
JJ are you against free speech? Cause there is nothing inappropriate in this message for you to delete.

Your generalizing and spewing nonsense.
Juno is completely overrated, and I don’t get how a mediocre performance like the one by Clooney gets a nod.
I guess Denzel was left out because he didn’t kiss the Academy’s behind and because the latent racism among the AA’s members.
I
James McAvoy and Keira Knightley totally deserve their nominations!!!!!! They were excellent in Atonement!!!! It’s so weird to see such a result
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No oscar for Brangelina.
Let’s do the conga people.
Conga conga CONGA
you know angie was good in that movie. I almost cried. and it takes a lot for me to cry but its cool she does have a lot of awards but it has to be hard being nominated this whole year and not get nominated for the big one. i glad the at least nominated j p.
F#(K oscar, i’m glad the writers are still on STRIKE~!!!

Wtf are you talking about! Angelina is no oscar begger. She never even kept the oscar that she already won or any other awards. If anything i think the silver lining is she doesn’t have to show up and talk to those two faced reporters such as the vile ryan seacrest and the rest of the gossip vultures. It’s too bad she didn’t get the nod but her performance was still reconized in award season and maybe more will watch a mighty heart because it has a lot of relivence in today’s world. I’m suprised about no mention of sean penn’s into the wild. Apart from johnny depp i don’t think the oscars is worth watching as it looks to be very boring now without angelina and sean penn so i hope johnny shows up.
No oscar for the fake Brangelina

dina #1 @ 01/22/2008 at 10:48 am In my newpaper the movie critic stated that GC was a HW darling and favorite. Peace
==========
Yeah. who’s gonna watch GC and his hired ho, blah.
Mrs Lenny posted her comments on the previous thread. I am reposting them here because her comments are wonderful. Peace
Mrs. Lenny @ 01/22/2008 at 10:42 am ~
I am disapointed, but not surprised. People give awards, but God give rewards. Brad and Angie are doing some wonderful things for man kind. Oscar is nothing compared to the genuine appreciation and graditude the people of NOLA and others places bestow upon them. The Oscars are not a true representation of a wonderful Actor or actress. They don’t know didley about a greatness.
****************************************************************************
Mrs Lenny, I totally agree with you. And I think that bothers a lot of people in HW. If she and Brad are nominated and win, they are happy. But they have other things in their lives that bring them just as much or more joy and happiness. That annoys some people. These two feel complete within themselves, with each other and their children. Accolades from you peers are wonderful if they are heartfelt and sincere. If you have to kiss azz and prostitue yourself to receive them, then no. Look at all of the good actors who were left off of the list. I will always remember what Denzel said when he won for Training Day. He said if he won he was going home and would have dinner with his wife and children. And if he lost, he was going home and would have dinner with his wife and children. He already had a Oscar for best supporting actor. But he had been nominated several times before he won for best actor. I am sure Angie and Brad feel the sam way. Peace
I think that the choices were probably extremely difficult, the choices up there now are going to be pretty tough and I wouldn’t want their job. I just need to give my congrats for Plan B and I’m glad Casey Affleck is emerging from his brother’s shadow.
dina#1 expressed part of my own feelings. I’d rather not see it happen anyway because I feel like Hollywood’s conglomerates need to stop being turds and sit down with those writers. THEY are behind the brilliant screenplays and television plot lines and deserve what their asking for.
Now that I’m off my soap box, #75 jewel, I think we just had a simple misunderstanding as well. I haven’t seen “Gone Baby Gone”, the nominations and your recommendation seems like it should be added to my list of movies to see.
this’s rediculous that keira is not nominated at all!at what about James Mcavoy and Joe Wright?! they should be nominated too! how terrible:(
The only people that gave her props about the movie was the critics. She did not win, which tells you she will get absolutely nothing in the form of awards, except maybe a razzi. No one like Angelina, except for a few fans that is not enough to keep her afloat at the box office. It is just about over for the actress, finally because people are sick of her.
The reason Angelina did not get nominated is not her bad wig and her over the top phony accent… she didn’t get it because she overacts. She’s just bad. Nothing personal. It’s not because she’s a homewrecking *****. It’s because she just didn’t make the cut! The Oscar’s are serious awards, they aren’t popularity contests.
And I meant I would rather not even see the Oscars take place due to the strike. I’m tired of the corporate bullying that goes on in Hollywood. I meant they’re* asking for
Congratulations to Javier Bardem and Daniel Day Lewis who got well-deserved nominations
congrats to all the nominess.

I guess Denzel was left out because he didn’t kiss the Academy’s behind and because the latent racism among the AA’s members.

PATHETIC PATHETIC PATHETIC oh and did I mention? PATHETIC! Ruby Dee was nominated this year, you idiot.
Plus every year since 2000/2001, black actors/actresses have been nominated (including Forest Whitaker, Jamie Foxx, Morgan Freeman Jennifer Hudson and Halle Berry winning)!
Yes! That’s right! A black actor has won in every acting category. Stop with the racist card. Oh and it’s the AMPA’s, not the AA. AHHAAHAHAHAH. Alcoholic Anonymous? LOLOLOL.
HELLO ANGELINA JOLIE?! And I thought they could not go any more wrong…and they did ! If the so-called”academy” does not know how to measure an exceptionnal performance …then where on earth is their credibilty ! I MEAN , as we say in Lebanon “Ma32oul? enno Wallaw!”

And George Clooney in Syriana, I think Jake G. in Brokeback was better than GC .
Alan Arkin over Eddie Murphy last year. ???
So what! Angie already has an Oscar. It would have been nice if Brad got one. We don’t agree with the decision, but the people who vote decide. Who knows, envy could have been a factor for some of those voters!
I’m sure AJ got votes too but obviously not enough. We have her new movie, Changeling, to look forward to!
I was excited to go online to check if Angie is nominated. I’m so disappointed. But don’t worry guys, I know Angie will be nominated next year for “The Challenging”

Thinking back to recent years, there are only a handful of actors that I have been very impressed with and remember watching the Oscars and rooting for them. It was Sean Penn in Mystic River and Charlize Theron in Monster. Both were riveting performances and both won. (2003)
Then last year, I was really rooting for Cate B. in her role from Notes On a Scandal.
I would have to say that I agree with Jewel, and say that Amy Ryan was outstanding in Gone Baby Gone.
And for the Lead Actor, Daniel Day Lewis will win. Hands down. Very glad that Tommy Lee was recognized also!
The nominees this year are, at least for me, lukewarm. Ratings will not be what they used to be if they take place at all.
mandy your post was so stupid. If it’s all about box office for you then that means latest box office failures nicole kidman and america’s sweeheart reese witherspoon are hated. She only got critics props lol that is only what every actor want for a peformance you idiot but box office is what according to you wins oscars. Your idol had shot more movies than Angelina in her entire career, but she was never nominated in any award except for that sitcom award. I remember she had 3 films out in 2005 but none was even mention in any serious award. I bet the world hate her, the world can’t stand her constant flushing of those ice nipples and aging wax coochie.
Juno was amazing and so was Ellen Page, she totally deserved this.
I am excited abiut Julie Christie, Sara Polley and Ellen Page, those woman rock, but so sad about James McAvoy, he deserved a nomination.

You and I think more alike than not, and I’d love to see this year’s show be handled the same way of GG’s - an hour of reading the names of the winners.
There have been so many people affected by this strike that, for them, I’d like it resolved, but corporate Hwood can stand to lose a few bucks. We all know who this strike is hurting, and it ain’t the corporate rich azzes.
aww Angie didnt get a nom. Its cool atleast we still have her pregnancy to look forward to

Sad about Angie and James but so happy about Ellen Page, I really wanted her to get a nomination
Go Juno and Atonement! Go Ellen Page! I am so happy about most of those nominations, and I love Johnny Depp.
I am soa happy Juno got a nom, comedies never do. And Ellen got a nomination also, yay! But no James and Keira, they should be there.
Just heard Whoopi explain how votes are cast by “The Academy” - she said that it is very subjective and that when you watch an actor in any specific role, the question you ask is and I quote “is the acting as good as it shoud be?”
Then, the political debate from last night was the next topic, so they spent about 2 minutes on the revered “Oscars”…..even they know when to not beat a dead horse.
Interesting discussions today…
James has been amazing in all of his movies, he deserved a nom. Glad about the girl from La vie en rose getting one, she is fabulous! And so is Ellen Page. I love Keira but not sure she deserved an Oscar nom, James did. And I am pulling for Juno.
American Gangster was not Denzel Washington’s greatest performance. I for one don’t want him nominated for playing a drug dealing murderer, didn’t he win for that role already.
I was surprised that Russell Crowe wasn’t nominated for supporting actor, but looking at the list it would have been a travesty if one of the men nominated was left off. I enjoyed all of their performances more than Russell’s.
My Predictions:
Best Actor:
I am rooting for George Clooney
Supporting Actor:
Tom Wilkinson
Best Actress:
Julie Christie
Supporting Actress:
Saoirse Ronan
Best Director:
Tony Gilroy
Best Original Screenplay:
Nancy Oliver
Best Adapted Screenplay:
Joel Coen and Ethan Coen
Juno was entertaining but doesn’t stand a chance. Ellen Page did a fine job…Oscar worthy? Only time will tell.
I doubt it. Seriously - you think that she’s taking the statue out of Julie Christie’s hands? Think again! Julie’s name could be engraved on hers already!
So no Oscar nod, but they can’t come out and support their fellow actors like others do? That would be sad and low of them. Why wouldn’t BP support Casey? Sore losers, like their fans Nothing to ENVY of that kind of attitude. Maturity is not a bad thing.
I usually find the Oscars boring but with both Atonement and Juno nominated, I an happy. As a Canadian, I am thrilled that the wonderful Sarah Polley and Ellen Page got a nomination, I have been following them since they were kids and always knew they were going to be HUGE stars.
Juno was pure crap, overrated and Ellen Page sucked so bad. It should have been a made for T.V. movie. Ellen’s co-star Jennifer Garner had the same look on her face that she has in all of her movies, no expression. This is the anti Britney nomination.
Woo-hoo about Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard! Boo about James and Angie, they was robbed as we say.

Without Angie and Brad the Oscar will be very boring…..’cos i think that they’ll don’t go
Ha ha ha No Oscar for Bragnlina. Both of them try hard every year to get nominated ,and they did not get any. Now Branglina should give a rest about looking for Oscar.

Their lives and roles are not motivated by winning awards…they have more important concerns in their lives. Lucky for them, they can pick and choose their roles, because THEY CAN.
I am curious also, how do two people who haven’t been nominated show up on the night of the awards? Oh, wait Brad and Angie would be able to if they wanted to because THEY CAN.
I really was a tad disappointed when I finally saw Juno.
I think Ellen Page’s character was unrealistic and predictable.

GUYS FACE THE FACT THAT ANGELINA NEVER DESERVE A NOM !!!!
SHE DID A GOOD JOB BUT NOT AMAZING! SHE IS NOT AN ACTRESS TO GET ANOTHER OSCAR, SHE SIMPLY ISN’T! SORRY!
The bitter Angie fans are annoying me. She just is not that good. I am glad laura Linney and Ellen Page got it over her, they are way superior actresses. I am glad about Casey Affleck too, always loved him. Juno made me cry, laugh and smile, that is a good movie.
you brangelina fans will spin this anyway you can to act like angie and brad came out on top…when it’s completely OBVIOUS they didn’t. congrats on your fantastic coping skills though!
Since Angie is robbed why do you think they’re going to the Oscar??Mark my word, even if the strike is resolved, they are NOT going, period. As I said earlier, Angie and Brad are not playing the Hollywood games, they will not fall to their level. Let’s hope for this year’s Changeling will score her many accolades and Brad’s CCOBB

There’s nothing wrong with the other actors nominated.
My opinion is if they were nominated, they would be there. Since they are not, yes, they won’t go. If you read up a bit, all the fans make it out like they won’t go out of spite. Which is probably true. I just think it’s in good taste to show support no matter what the case.
Why the f*ck did this turn into an Angelina Jolie thread? My lord, there are so many more deserving performers to discuss. How about the ones who were actually nominated? Ellen Page’s character in Juno was incredibly annoying, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t play it well enough for a nod. That entire cast was pretty amazing, especially her dad and stepmom who probably should have both been nominated themselves.
Oscar got it all wrong this year:
No Denzel, No Russel Crowe and no Angelina Jolie. Ellen Page for Juno is a joke. I mean really. She was good for a teen for come on! And The Great Debaters should have been nominated for something.
Awful. I am saddened but then again, the Oscaars are so often out of touch. At least Keira Knightley was not nominated! Thank Goodness for that!
helena#66-67
can you shut up…..!!!!!!
lousie,
You crazy. She was great. The acadmy is poltics. Envy is probably in the minds of those voters. It is very disapointing. That talent was worth to be recognized.
Cate Blanchett did not deserve the nomination. The film was terrible and she played the same role she played in Elizabeth I I’ll say this though: the reason Angie was not nominated is because she doesn’t get into the politics of promoting herself for these things. She is too busy for it. But I think, next time, she should probably think of doing so. I mean why else would Julie Christie get nominated for a movie no one saw ? I didn’t even know that movie existed and I see everything! If Angie had petitioned for the nom, she would have gotten it - that is how these things work in Hollywood. That said, she did the film for Dannie Pearl. And I think his story was the most heartbreraking of all in films this past year. That and The Great Debaters. Too bad Oscar - you could have had a real competition. Now, it ’s boring. Also, Perse[polis should have been nominated for best foreign film - that is what they submitted for and instead they were nominated for best animated feature.
sooooooo….if the angie supporters are correct and the oscars are “political”……how do they explain her win for girl interrupted???? did the politics not exist then? what happened? what’s different? please explain.
Canton - It’s called hypocrisy.
Could anyone stop to think that despite the fact that AJ might have given a good performance in A Mighty Heart, that perhaps it wasn’t BETTER or AS GOOD as those that were nominated? There are many, many excellent performances every year and only 5 spots under each category. You do the math.
eastern promises was a brilliant movie, and viggo mortensen should get the gong because he was ace in it. hes also the hottest guy on the list, but thats beside the pont
atonement was a terrible movie thats why it was excluded. keira knightely can’t act her way out of a paper bag. ellen page should win best actress for juno
Ha!
thanks for explaining…i found myself to be so confused about it all. ;)
I’m really happy that Cate got nominated.
But it’s just wrong that both Keira and James got left without a nomination. I also expected Angelina to get one for A Might Heart.. Well, I won’t be watching the Oscars this year.
Angie has an Oscar and Brad has an Oscar nomination. I am disappointed this year, but there will be other nominations in the future. Angie has a successful career for over 10 years. Brad for over 15 years. They can choose when to work and what parts to play..
She has received so many other nominations for her role in AMH. She did a great job, even if the Academy did not give her a nomination..
If the Academy had acknowledged her role in AMH, then they would have given a lot of recognition to the movie ifself. I think there is a little politics in this - perhaps the Academy did not want to stir the “terrorist” pot so to speak, even though the movie’s message was one of tolerance.
Angie is recognized as a serious, acclaimed actress. And she has made a name for herself beyond Hollywood. Over the last 7 years she has accomplished so much in the international humanitarian arena. So much that it lit a fire under other celebrities to do more. She also has become a young mother of 4 young children and she is a life partner since 2005..
Don’t know if I will watch the Oscars, but will continue to support the JPs and take interest in what they do.
Niiiiiiiccce 4 Ruby Dee, Cate B., Depp and Day-Lewis.
WTF?????
those jackasses really suck!!!!
how didnt she receive a nomination??

Would you be kind enough to explain in what way attending a ceremony to show some support for your costar (C.Affleck) in a film that your company has co-produced (TAOJJ) would be” playing Hollywood games”?
Besides, this film is also nominated for technical awards and its cinematography. So,coming to the ceremony would not be “a fall to their level”,but rather a way to show that you’re a team player.
Are you telling us that he only cares for this film if it brings him personal awards(like in Venice)but has no consideration for it the day the light is on somebody else?Wow and you say that’s Hollywood’s level that is low!!!(By the way they belong to Hollywood)
Do you think those people who put up the nominations ever read “trash-magazines”?
Seems to me at times like they won´t put up certain actors on the list only to proove their point.
I bet you a thousand bucks, that they never EVER would have put Johnny Depp on the list if his face had appeared on in magazines more often.

I saw so much more than that. In the scene where she is in bed, looking at her cell phone and all you see are her eyes. There was so much sadness, desperation, unbelief in her eye- as if she is begging the cell phone to tell more. She conveyed so much in that one scene. Then in the scene close to the end, when she says “I am not terrorized, you cannot be terrozied” was so powerful but in a subdued wal. It was as it she is giving the others as well as the audience the courage to stay strong in the face of terrorism.

Certainly they would go, if nominated! How does anyone just go to the Award Ceremony unless you are nominated, a presenor or INVITED? Unless they are invited, how could they just show up?
Explain to little ole me who just isn’t gettin’ what the heck you are saying.
With the way AMPAS tabulates the votes for nominees it is not that surprising that Jolie missed out. Voters have to list their choices preferentially in order. You have to get first place on a certain number of ballots to get a nomination. It’s a weird system but that’s how it works. If every single one voting for nominees thought Jolie gave the third best performance by an actress this year, she still wouldn’t get a nomination unless she also got a certain number of first place votes.
I was more impressed that she got a SAG nomination because that has always been the harder nomination to get and is taken more seriously than the Oscars by actors. Primarily because it is usually free of politics and missing “favorites.”
As much as I like Cate Blanchett, there was a time she couldn’t get nominated for anything (even when much deserved) and now it seems they will nominate her for ANYTHING. Her Best Actress nom is not warranted at all. I even quibble with her nom for I’m not there. It’s another mimicky performance like her Oscar win as Katherine Hepburn which I wasn’t crazy about to begin with.
But that’s the Oscars for you. Finally giving Al Pacino an Oscar for maybe one of the worst performances of his career. Oscar history is full of those missteps.
I’m sure Jolie is fine. Her performance as Pearl is one of the more honored acting jobs of this year. It isn’t like she doesn’t already have an Oscar. I’m sure she’s more upset for Pitt that Jesse James didn’t get more deserved recognition. Happy for the 2 noms it did get but it deserved more - especially for its beautiful and haunting score.
Someone earlier in the thread mentioned something about the Academy punishing Jolie because she and Pitt didn’t go the Oscars last year. I don’t know where people get these goofy ideas from but that couldn’t be more wrong. Actors rarely go to the Oscars when they are not nominated.

Problems in bambam world? You sound like driven with envy to dislike someone that doesn’t know you exist. Go work on your world, cuz you sound sad/mad/uglier than an old shoe.
She needs to dump Brad and his giant nostrils. Make sure she looks wounded and hurt by the breakup for more sympathy.
Freaking part 2 of Cate’s movie sucked and just because they messed up the first time around and gave Gwyny poo the award instead of cate that doesn’t make it fair to the talented people THIS YEAR. They were a joke last year too when they handed the award over to that old dude from little miss sunshine.
I watched Little miss sunshine after the awards last year and I was shocked that that guy won .

I think that at that time AJ wasn’t high profile yet, and no female with a vote resented her. Now I have the feeling that some of them envy her and will never vote for her no matter how brilliant she is in a movie.
I’m sure AJ got votes too, but not enough.
A voter can claim to be objective, but I think her personal feelings do play a role in her choices.
Fans:
You are doing a disservice to Angelina by decrying the process. Life is not fair and this may be one moment that it’s unfair. However, as Angelina fans let’s wish all the nominees good luck. I don’t think Angelina would agree with you guys behaving like this.
Many, many deserving actors and actresses never get this recognition. Angie is already way ahead of many. She is and always will be an Oscar winner.
So from now on let’s wish all the nominees a hearty Good Luck.

JUNO was not all that.
Angelina Jolie is an acclaimed actress?for god’s sake….she is so poor as an actress!

good luck!
How are the SAG Awards being handled this year?
Anyone please?

=============
There is ALWAYS politics going on at the Oscars. That’s why the SAGs are a better indicator of the year’s work.
It doesn’t mean that great performances and movies and other film work aren’t rewarded by the Academy, just that many times the Academy is more susceptible to influences other than who or what is the most deserving. As great as Jolie was in Girl Interrupted and deserving of her win, I am sure that the fact that she was a blossoming child of the industry helped her.
Does anyone think Clooney was the best Supporting Actor when he won for Syriana? Hardly. There was the politics of, well, politics for him. There are many examples of another kind of politics with the Oscars - especially the long Oscar tradition of “make up Oscars.” Pacino, Denzell Washington, Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, and on and on and on. Javier Bardem is this year’s make up Oscar. Same maybe with Ruby Dee - though hers would be more of a “thanks for your career Oscar.”
It’s just the way it is.

You are so right! That was probably another reason some voters decided not to nominate her. I do think some female voters envy her.
Geez. Settle down, kids. It’s JUST the Oscars. *SNORE*

I am not Spanish and I support Javier Bardem.
Bardem ROBBED of a Best Actor Oscar for his brilliant work in Before Night Falls.
Brilliant actor and pretty gorgeous as well.
I hope Cate wins Best Actress and Daniel wins for Best Actor,..I hate Clooney with his smug azz, and Ellen Page is annoying.
Every single site that has an Oscar nominees list has turned into a discussion about Angelina Jolie. Even without the nom she still garners more attention then anyone else. I would say 70 to 80 percent of the posts on every thread I’ve been to have been about Angelina. Does anyone else think that’s weird? I actually like Angelina a lot, but I don’t worship her either. I am asking an honest question. Do you think this will carry over until the actual awards are handed out? Its pretty much the same for Kiera Knightley too. I just hope all the first time nominees don’t get completely overshadowed. Regardless of politics, it’s still an honor in many people’s eyes to get nominated and especially to win.
I do NOT like Cate Blanchett and her Undeserving, surprising nominations.
I tried, maybe because of her middle age! but I don’t like Blanchett’s
overacting that belongs more to some Australian theatre.
Also, she looks fake, opportunistic and SNEAKY.
Let’s not forget her nose, the only thing prominent on her.
My wishes:
gorgeous Marion Cotillard,
There Will Be Blood and the best of all
Daniel Day-Lewis.

Amen!
Movie fans know that, sometimes, actors aren’t nominated for their best performances. Fortunately, for Angelina, there are many more opportunities for her.
As for the Best Actress nominees, I’ve seen three of them, Christie, Cotillard, and Page. Of the three, I wouldn’t mind seeing Cotillard win it. But then again, I may change my mind if I get to see The Savages and Elizabeth The Golden Age.
As for the douche who said that Angelina ‘begged’ for Oscar… stop huffing, please! Given her high profile, she was barely visible during HW’s campaign season.

yes because I’m sure everyone was knocking people over to see their films and did such a better job than all the other actresses out there. I’m sure Julie christie, already an oscar winner needs yet another one. The whole world saw her film. She’s the new it girl.
Jodie Foster was snubbed big time this year.
A mighty Heart was a terrible movie on many levels and as far as acting goes - I’ve seen better soaps. Angie is becoming one dimentional - same face expressions for all movies and same silly accents - either that or looking with her eyes down seductively licking her finger - not acting in my book — she deserves not to get a nomination.
disappointed that sweeney, tim and helena didn’t get noms, but I think the majority of the choices are good and really varied.
hope johnny and ellen win!!

Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe aren’t nominated either. Does that mean they’re bad actors too??? Both these guys and AJ already have won!

Life is filled with moments when, after a lifetime of assuming something is valid and honorable, you suddenly wake up and realize you were wrong, you have been naive, your eyes suddenly open wide and you see the truth. This list, for me, is such a moment. The Academy Awards are an industry-fixed operation. It may not have always been so, but at this point, that is what it has become.
To accept this list of nominees, from best picture to best director, you have to be an idiot not to realize it is apparently self-serving and manipulated. It victimized many others besides Brad and Angelina. It is far more far-reaching. Brad was spectacular as Jessie James and that movie was gorgeous and unforgettable. Please tell me how Casey Afflek could have been recognized for a performance that depended solely on the equally fascinating portayal of Jessie James, the equally fascinating movie itself? Impossible. Some roles are independent of other aspects or characters, but not his. The two lead performances are interdependent, as it the film. An earlier comment wondered the same thing…how can the movie Atonement be nominated when it is soley dependent on the two lead performance, but those performances themselves are ignored? Insane.
How can you put a performance of a teen-aged actress, no matter how wonderful and cute she is, playing a teen-ager, in the category of best actress? She is playing herself, she acted like herself, cute and smart, but not in any way a huge accomplishment. To ignore Angelina as a completely believable Mariane Pearl, in such a demanding and harrowing role, in order to place the actress from a more popular, more financially successful movie, is blatantly self-serving. I’m outa here this year. NOT gonna bother. It is a ridiculous, preposterous fake, and up until this year I’ve fallen for it.
Michael Clayton? Michael Clayton with George Clooney acting like George Clooney? Looking and speaking, all mannerisms his everyday mannerisms, nominated as best actor? How can they live with this? Tilda Swinton? Ridiculous! She was fine. Adaquate. I actually found her underperforming, and at the time I saw the movie I remember feeling she was miscast because she had no personality, and didn’t bring the strength to the role it required. Michael Clayton as best picture? This is perhaps the biggest slap in the face yet. This is where I finally get it. There is something to be gained by a studio on some level with this. That can be the only answer. Not one single person I have heard from who saw this movie said anything about it was special. It was formulaic and predictable, with some moments that you rolled your eyes at because it was so contrived. Kind of like a James Bond movie when the villians are exaggerated and somehow things just happen, to allow the movie to go where the story has to go, that are almost cartoonishly unbelievable. It is clear they want to railroad this movie in for monetary purposes, not on merit. Boo.
Julie Christie does not deserve an academy award for her hammy performance. Marion Cottilard does. Angelina Jolie does. I am angry and have no respect for this industry after seeing this list. I only hope No Country for Old Men wins. I have heard it is worthy, and I have no doubt DDL is great, so I hope he wins in his category. George Clooney is a shameful, shameful name on this list, proving it is an inside job.
Brad and Angelina probably will attend to support Casey, but they should not.
#209 - so Brad & Angelina shouldn’t go to the awards (if the strike is resolved by then anyway) if they’re invited and/or just to support Casey because they weren’t nominated or because someone you didn’t like did get it? That’s a little petty don’t you think? If all actors got huffy about things like that, the AA would never have an audience! Lots of deserving actors get snubbed all the time - it happens, it’s not the end of the world. As long as the actors themselves feel good about their work, that’s all that matters.
With that said - congrats Johnny Depp! I loved Sweeny Todd and I hope he wins. I’m still kind of sad that Helena didn’t get nominated, but it just wasn’t her time. Maybe she’ll get a nod for some other role. And I hope Ruby Dee wins. She’s a great actress and has been for decades - it’s about time she got some recognition.
Jesus ‘addictedtobampsz’, get over yourself. You do overdramatic better than your girl does. Btw, it’s kind of ironic that you call them out for nominating Ellen Page for playing herself, when the role that won AJ an Oscar was as close to her own personality as Juno might just be to Ellen’s.
Amber, sorry you didn’t get what I was saying. The major part of my post says that many, many deserving actors were overlooked for the appparent sake of the industry. I use Brad and Angelina as only two of many examples.
I did not say they should not attend for any other reason other than their presence will bring an audience to a contrived and political and in my opinion fake awards show. They bring credibility, and in this case none is deserved. The stretch here goes way beyond their movies, as I think I mentioned.
All joking aside, you all didn’t really believe Angelina Jolie’s performance was Oscar worthy, did you? How could you think she’d be nominated when no one even bothered to see the movie. The role just wasn’t natural for her… unlike in Girl, Interrupted.. in which she was so convincing. She definitely deserved that Oscar.
#211, your comment makes it clear you are not interested in anything but a chance to make a stupid, stupid, stupid negative and unfair comment about an amazing humanitarian and talented actress, but have a nice day anyway.
i AM IN SHOCK and very happy. NO ANGELINA JOLIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
VIVA ACADEMIES. Holly wood has said it loud and clear. They hatew Joliepitt losers.
Woo hoo, she was even in the newsweek oscar do! What a sucker! I am so happy.
where are jameees or keira? :(
i thought at least james would get nominated. his performance was so so powerful
#212 - but was the show fake, political and contrived when Angelina won in 2000? It just seems to me that some people on here have sour grapes over something I’m sure Angelina doesn’t give two s***s about. And it’s also rude that you can say that and undermine all the other actors who were equally deserving of nods. These nominees should feel proud of themselves - hell, I know if I was nominated for an Oscar I’d be thrilled! Don’t take that away from them by saying it’s pointless because it’s not. It’s just that when people you like don’t get nods it is.
hehehe at these haters here.
HW hates them, have you missed all those HW’s people around their table at CCA.oh I guess you must miss that.
btw who cares about small world like HW,as long as they are getting movie’s offers left and right,I don’t have any problem with HW hating them. LOL
and HW hate them but more important people and more important country like them, let’s remember those craziness that happened in Toronto that all the people just assume they never have seen this happened before, sure people hates them.LOL.
I am really very sad that Angie was not nominated for AMH. But I do wish that Casey Affleck wins. For those who are bashing Angie’s acting ability, and who did not even see the movie A Mighty Heart, enough. I am sure you hate the JoliePitts for another reason too obvious to mention. Since even Newsweek, honored Angie and James McAvoy for their Oscar roundtable. You are childish with your comments. All Brad and Angie do for humanity, their efforts to help NOLA, and the needy in Darfur, Sierra Leone, etc. still you are hating them for falling in love and having children. Angie had won these awards before, and Brad had a GG before too. Just because they have a happy family and they are blessed with good looks and acting ability, you have no right to belittle them because you prefer Brad’s past lovers. Praise who you choose to win the Oscar’s but do not criticize the JoliePitt’s for their acting ability.
Stop talking about Angelina and focus on MARION COTILLARD !
You go, Marion !
She was just … ASTONISHING ! I mean she played a woman form, like her twenties to her fifties, when she looked like she was eighty, and did a really GREAT job. She was just.. beautiful ! She deserves it more than any of the others, she’s such a promising actress.
Sorry for my bad english !
And Come OOOOn, Keira ? Of course she didn’t get a nomination, the movie was good, but her performance ? Nothing special.
Brad and Angelina probably will attend to support Casey, but they should not.

Why do you say that? Did Brad go last year when his co star was nominated but he wasn’t ? I don’t think so.
You know i cant speak for everyone because i havent seen all the nominees performances.. I did see angelina’s and honestly that had to be a hard performance to play. I agree, the wig wasnt the best. hOwever, the accent was good and the emotion’s were there. i forgot all bout angie.”. to missy and anyone else: why did she get so many reviews by a lot of critics if she wasnt so great ? also i think a lot of u haters didnt see the movie.
anyway , H w has a love and hate relationship with brad and angie.. they a times cant stand them but their always in their face, asking personal question’s..admit it haters their intriguing..but its cool life goes on and they get spend time with the family.. not go to wishy washy oscars . Peace
No nomination? Aaaah! This time, sleeping around didn’t pay off. )
^^^ joh dont talk about your mom that way
amber, # 218…I’m disappointed that I just came off as “rude”. I was hoping to convey complete disgust and disillusionment with an institution I think has exposed itself this year to be a tool of the industry, but that’s just me. I focused heavily on Michael Clayton, not Brad or Angelina. Please read my thoughts again? Maybe give me an upgrade?
In no way am I undermining all the other actors who were equally deserving of nods. They apparently only will get nods, however, if it meets the needs of the industry. You can still believe in the system if you’d like. Fine with me. As for the year 2000 when Angelina won, I have no idea. I still believed back then, not having followed films and performances as carefully as I do now.

Let’s compares losses. Angelina does not get a Oscar nomination.
Jennifer does not win best best lift or hair in the annual OK poll.
See the difference. Now when Aniston actually does some acting that people remember than you can post won’t be a joke.
sorry that is breast life
HAHAHAHA.
Ruby Dee a real african american actress, no spray on tan here,

THANK YOU ACADEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
funny,
“breast life”????
dummy
I am sick and tired of Cate Blanchett.
Is she sleeping around? At her age?!
The point is-
Critics didn’t like her, and nobody saw her movies.
wow!
HW just sucks !!!
Did they took it seriously when the JP’s said HW it is not a good place to raise kids.?
Or maybe Angie got everything everyone would wish for?
Hmmm.. why bother giving her the nom.
Angie will be a contender next year. CHANGELING ,my friends.
JJ thanks for the list.
me too…
wtf are you even trying to say? you aren’t making any sense in your post.
Can’t believe James McAvoy didn’t get nominated for Atonement!
He is the most amazing actor; his performance in Atonement was just breathtaking. (Though Knightley’s pouting put me off the film as a whole… surely the fact he was so believable acting opposite that plank of wood makes him even more worthy of a bloody Oscar!!)
So it is a sign that Angelina is not nominated that she is not liked? What is with these people here? Are all of them not liked? Each of them a loser?
Keira Knightley (Atonement)
Helena Bonham-Carter (Sweeney Todd)
Amy Adams (Enchanted)
Jodie Foster (The Brave One)
Nicole Kidman (Margot at the Wedding)
Halle Berry (Things We Lost in the Fire)
Ryan Gosling (Lars and the Real Girl)
Denzel Washington (American Gangster)
Frank Langella (Starting Out in the Evening)
James McAvoy (Atonement)
Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men)
Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild)
It is the same problem every year. A handful of good performances and only 5 places. So some must inevitably lose! And still some will lose during the Oscars! This is a part of the game!
And if Jennifer is liked just like you say why was she never nominated for an Oscar? After your logic it is only about popularity anyway. And as we all know anybody LOVES Jennifer ! Or not?
If you want to win an Oscar, in any case you need 3 things
- the right year (weak or strong film years.)
- A good campaign
- The right Movie (Drama, Thriller, etc.)
Not only popularity of the person
This is my opinion!
Once again the Oscar people play it safe! George Clooney is good but his role hardly deserves an Oscar nod. Cate for Elizabeth, another ok role….
The only one they got right was Viggo for Eastern Promises!! But I bet DDL gets the Oscar.
AND 300 didn’t get any nominations? I certainly deserves a nod for special effects or cinematography…I mean come one, Transformers get nominated….Please….
Oscar, you’ve got boring….
Wahooo for JUNO !!!! I love that movie sooo much and Ellen Page is awesome in it :D !!!
LOL phew good thing angie did not get a nod, now the freaks have something talk about, complain about and whine about for WEEEKS on end. This news gives their life purpose …. just goes to show her rank is dropping regardless if she is sleeping with brad. She had a good few years on his tails …. Congrats to all the others well deserved

KK1 @ 01/22/2008 at 8:15 pm Shocking news about HeathL. His little daughter is just 2 years old. First Brad Renfro, now Heath. May they both rest in peace.
Listen, don’t give the Oscars more importance that they are due. Angie has an Oscar. She will be nominated for others. Right now she has the best one can have in life, a loving and lovedup partner in Brad who worships the ground she walks on, and a much loved family with happy healthy kids. Angie has her Oscar and every other award anyone can receive in her life everyday in her home. There is nothing better than what she now has, nothing.
HeathL death’s today once more illustrates how short life can be, death can arrive at any time. You must seize the day and live each day to the fullest. Being nominated for an award that is made of cold metal is not something that brings any warmth into one’s life.

All joking aside, you all didn’t really believe Angelina Jolie’s performance was Oscar worthy, did you? How could you think she’d be nominated when no one even bothered to see the movie.
>>>>>>>>>
You might want to note that the Savages, which has been out since November 07 and Stars an oscar nominee, Laura Linney has made $3.6m to date. Away from Her for which Julie Christie has been nominated made $7.76m in the BO and nearly $7.0m in DVD rentals.
AMH MADE OVER $18M in the BO and more than $23m in DVD rentals in the North American market alone.
When you have done some simple homework and know a little bit more about what you are talking about, you might come across as being a more genuine and unbias in your analysis.

The role just wasn’t natural for her… unlike in Girl, Interrupted.. in which she was so convincing. She definitely deserved that Oscar.
>>>>>>>>
The other performances are perhaps better I don’t know as I haven’t seen all the movies for which the other actresses were nominated. But there were many important critics who also considered Angelina’s performance in AMH to be outstanding and deserving of an Oscar nomination and they presumably, saw the other performances too.
I know it is your intention to suggest that Angelina can play the psychopath role very well because she is naturally psychopathic. Perhaps.
But I will say, Angelina is a marvellously versatile actress. She has played Marianne to great critical acclaim, she has played Girl Interrupted, she has played Gia (and there were several critics who said that had GIA been a movie, she would have nailed the Best Actress nomination at least), she has played George Wallace’s wife. She is LARA CROFT. I think we will see a marvellous performance from her in the Changeling.
There are only 5 places in an Oscar race. There are several very fine actresses jostling for positions. I believe Angelina’s fell out of position in favour of Laura Linney, because from all I’ve read, Laura delivered an Oscar worthy performance too. Laura Linney, an actress with significant indie cred but haven’t delivered in the box office but whom the members of the academy feel deserves a nomination.
There was a critic who said that Angelina deserved a nomination but actually wrote that she probably won’t get the prize until she breaks up with Brad because no one was going to feel sorry for her enough to vote for her. A poster wrote earlier that Hollywood have a love hate relationship with Brad and Angelina. I believe that.
I believe Brad and Angelina are seen as a couple who seem to have it all, Love, Beauty, Family, Fame, Talent, Intelligence, Riches. The academy is in the end, made up of individual human beings, who for all the best intentions in the world, have feelings much like you and me. There is clearly politics and personal preferences in the nominations and the voting in the big awards and the Oscar. As individuals these members of the academy are just as prone to SCHADENFREUDE as YOU CLEARLY ARE.
missy @ 01/22/2008 at 11:10 am ………………………………….The Oscar’s are serious awards, they aren’t popularity contests.
==========================================
Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
Boy, are you in the wrong universe. Earth to Missy, the Oscars are ALL about popularity contests. It’s a history of popularity contests.
However, not getting an Oscar or a nom doesn’t mean they don’t like you, just that somebody is more popular that year. You think H’wood doesn’t love Tom Hanks or Julia Roberts? And another clue, dear clueless one, box office is irrelevant to Best Acting awards - particularly Best Actress awards. Nobody saw Away from Her or La Vie en Rose when they came out. They made almost NO money. They were obscure little indies - foreign indies at that. I question how many of the voters even saw them before they voted. But the “buzz” for both Cotillard and Christie was so strong that it carried the day. Not that I’m unhappy for their noms but understand how the Oscar works.

EXACTLY!!!
Well…as Angie wont nominated I don’t need to watch the OSCAR.
At least, I think, our Angie will be spared of the Oscar curse. Angie, you are still the best, keep up with the good work. We, your fans, love you and your family ! To the others who are hateful, just letting you all know that Angie and Brad has a strong fan base and we still continue to celebrate their lives as actors and philantrophists . We’re giving Angie all our support and are VERY HAPPY for the other recognition she got for her work. To the Oscars, Blah!
Two things that shocked me this morning. One is Angie not nominated and another is the sudden death of Heath Ledger. can’t believed it . what a sad day.
Angie might not be nominated in Oscar but her role in AMH was praised and recognized by several critics this year. there will always have a next year. at least Angie’s is in good place right now, she had the love and support of her family. which is the most important thing inlife. look what happen to Heath. oscar nominated, great talent, rich but unhappy and depress.
loopy @ 01/22/2008 at 5:58 pm Can’t believe James McAvoy didn’t get nominated for Atonement!
He is the most amazing actor; his performance in Atonement was just breathtaking. (Though Knightley’s pouting put me off the film as a whole… surely the fact he was so believable acting opposite that plank of wood makes him even more worthy of a bloody Oscar!!)
++++++++++++
Because Hollywood hate them. that ’s what the faniston loons said.
HW hate Danzel, Tom Hank, Russel, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jodie, Helena, Julia Robert….etc, who else.
JUNO ALL THE WAYYYYY! :)
I don’t think that the Oscar snub will really effect Angie at all. This year will be Julie Christie’s, and for those who don’t believe I don’t think it will be aired. Angie is already getting rave reviews for her role as MP and honors. I think she will appreciate the SBFF honor more . She gave away the first one maybe they didn’t forget that. For those who don’t remember she said she gave that one to her mom because awards didn’t mean that much to her anyways. And it’s really a shame that some people feel that because she didn’t get nominated that she is at home crying her eyes out and pouting. And if the poster is speaking the truth about her not being nominated is on every blog she is more powerful than I ever thought. It’s amazing!
I forgot to add that I thought that Marion Cotillard performance was excellent. I’m kind of pulling for her, but I also like Julie Christie. Daniel Day Lewis will win. Next year will be Angelina’s for the Changeling and Clint Eastwood for best director maybe even best pitcure. Remember this post next year.
Angie needs to get dumped before next years Oscars so the Oscar voters will vote for her. It’s really not about good acting.
This is Brad’s second year being snubbed and having a co-star up for an oscar . any true movie fan will know that Angelina deserved at least a nomination. BP’s a jinx to himself and Angelina.
hopefully he will dump her and break her heart for all to see. She will have a better chance at an Oscar next year.
James McAvoy should have been nominated. How the **** do thsese things get decided? Seriously, I’m not ******* watching. **** you Oscars. It’s not about celebrating actors anymore, its about poliyics, proficts, and selling of products. ******* *****

…….
——-
That is exactly what I’m thinking!
I’m a bit sad Angelina was snubbed; I truly thought her performance in A Mighty Heart was powerful. However, as many here have pointed out, not all actors and actresses who did well this year could have been nominated. But it’s not like it’s the end of the world: so much great work goes unacknowledged by the Academy, but everyone still knows it was good stuff. Look at Johnny Depp’s career.
I’m also kind of disappointed that Eddie Vedder was shut out of the Original Song categories. Ah well. He already won the Globe. :D
I’m also really rooting for Cate to win with I’m Not There.
Oscars is Hollywood’s prom night.
Oh, and don’t be sad Angelina got snubbed. I doubt she gives a crap about getting an award. She’s not the type.
Can someone please answer this question for me? Has there ever been an actor/actress nominated for a role in a movie that was panned by the critics? I dont understand how Cate Blanchett was nominated for Best Actress for “elizabeth whatever”. Nobody liked this movie. What relevance does this figure have in the world at this time? You have a movie like AMH that is trying in its limited way to show how peoples of all cultures and religions could unite for the common good, and it is ignored.
For the ones on here who are having orgasms because Angie was not nominated, get hold of yourselves. She got critical acclaim for this movie and that is something that will not change. For whatever reason she was not nominated, but saying that this shows that the “world” ( as someone up-thread foolishly proclaimed) does not like her is laughable. I know that Angie will be in the forefront of many more Oscar races, because lets face it, she is a fabulous actor.
Some idiot actually posted that Angie could stop parading her children now, which she was, (according to the afore-mentioned idiot,)doing on her Oscar campaign. Well as far back as i can remember, they have been saying she parades her kids for PR. This claim was made in 2006, before AMH was filmed, so unless she is a psychic, this is b@@l c#$p.
I am sure that Brad and Angie are not lamenting this missed nomination, they have more important things to think about, namely four beautiful little ones
So go on and enjoy you conga lines and what have you, it does not change anything in their lives. For the person already accusing them of not attending the ceremony because of selfishness, if they are invited, i am sure they will show up.
Slightly OT. Sheri if you are on posting, you are not familiar with me but i have to share something with you. a couple of weeks ago you were feeling a little under the weather, (at least i believe it was you), and posters were sharing various remedies. I remember one such was to rub your feet with vicks vapor rub, and then putting on socks. Anyway, yesterday was bitterly cold in NYC, and i felt like a cold was coming on, so i tried the remedy, and went straight to bed. I had the most restful sleep i had had in awhile, and woke up this morning feeling as strong as an ox. LOL. Thank you.
ANGIE WAS SO SNUBBED! I dont even know who laura linney is and cate shouldn’t be there….overrated role but she’s still a good actress.
233 me too @ 01/22/2008 at 5:19 pm
I am sick and tired of Cate Blanchett….
——-
Me too and those Elizabeth movies are boring!
I just don’t understand the comments that I am reading and its mostly about Angelina Jolie. I saw the movie at the theatres, and yes I was completely bored. I decided to leave in the middle of it to buy more nachos and coke LOL. Then i decided since I was so bored that I really didn’t give the movie a chance maybe when it comes “on demand” on my cable provider, I’ll take another look at it again.
Well, it was early evening and everyone in the room that were watching Marianne Pearl either fell asleep or left the room. I was the only one that really made sure I paid attention. And yes, the movie was still boring. At first I wanted to say terrible, but it doesn’t seem to fit along those lines. Angelina Jolie’s performance in that movie was really mediocre. She didn’t bring the character to life. Her performance was very over rated. She couldn’t pull off the accent and her acting was okay at best. I always found her to be a mediocre actress but this is only my opinion.
Like many times in the Oscars, you can have a year in which each category such as Best Actress can only have one sure winner and you can have one year where the actresses are hard to choose from. I feel as though when Angelina won the role in Girl interrupted, she won it because it truly mirrored her lifestyle in a way that the role she played, you knew definitely she was going to win. I feel as though, she gets alot of praise simply because of her beauty and who her father was.
There is no doubt that Angelina will be nominated again in the future. Her fans love her movies, whether they are terrible or not, and she will always get recognition by her peers. Its funny that they had her at the oscar round table as a sure win but obviously the upset was confirmed yesterday. Angelina was definitely not deserved a nominee for her role in Marianne Pearl but knowing Angelina and her “acting” abilities…she will probably get another one in the future.
I’ve found “boring ” all these nominations: George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Laura Linney, Ellen Page.. Atonement, Michael Clayton, Juno!!!
I saw A Mighty Heart and I think that Angie deserved the nomination , I’m not a fan of her but she was really great in the movie, she’s a very talented actress..I hope now that Julie and Viggo or Tommy will win the oscar as well as Casey!
Academy doesn’t love Brad and Angie: I think that next year, even if Angie’s performance in the Changeling will be terrific, she will not considered…Brad ’s performance in TAOJJ was great too, infact he won in Venice..
Oh please @ 01/23/2008 at 5:01 am
oic so judging by your post those films critics that praised angelina regarding her worthy acting in AMH are all wrong and you are right..bwaahahahhahahahhahh! You’re a clown !!! bwahahahhahah!!!

I’m disappointed she didn’t get an Oscar nomination. The lack of the nomination doesn’t mean her acting wasn’t fantastic. And it isn’t showing the world anything. It means from a collective of 6,000 members who may have voted (not all members choose to vote), she didn’t make the top five.
But, yet, she has her SAG nomination (from a group of 100,000) who are her peers.
I remember reading over the past few months antis saying the Oscar’s and Golden Globes weren’t really that important. That they would really believe her acting was good if she was nominated for a SAG. Well, she has been nominated for a SAG.

She did say that it’s only her opinion!
I’m sure Angie got votes too, but not enough. I haven’t seen any of the movies nominated. OReilly (Fox) said he has seen only Juno, and doesn’t care about the others.
Get this straight people……The Academy doesn’t like Brangelina, the public doesn’t like Brangelina(Hence all their bombs, scandel sheets king and queen). THE WORLD HAS SPOKEN. Basically , Brangelina suck! OK
#271,
Everyday another idiot shows itself. Wow, you and the fraud known as aniston (notice i used small case letters) sure are plugged into the minds of the world at large. How the fcuk do you dress yourself with your kind of logic? Like the world gives a damn about a celebrity divorce. Only idiots like you are still obsessed and hateful. And while you are spewing your hate, Brad and Angie are living and loving with their four beautiful babies. That really is the best revenge.

In the Best Actress category, the biggest shocker was the exclusion of Angelina Jolie for her role in “A Mighty Heart.” It was Jolie’s finest performance since her Oscar-winning turn in “Girl, Interrupted.” The Academy instead inexplicably chose to honor “Juno’s” Ellen Page, Page performance was wonderful, but it lacked the strength and emotional resonance of Jolie’s turn as Marianne Pearl, the widow of murdered reporter Daniel Pearl. Many critics also thought Amy Adams had a chance to secure her first nomination as Princess Giselle in the Disney fantasy “Enchanted.” Cate Blanchett was a dual nominee this year, with a nomination in this category for “Elizabeth” and a nomination for Supporting Actress as Bob Dylan in “I’m Not There.”
dianad1968 @ 01/23/2008 at 1:53 am Can someone please answer this question for me? Has there ever been an actor/actress nominated for a role in a movie that was panned by the critics?
===============
Actually Monster was pretty much panned by the critics and yet Charlize Theron won the Oscar.
There are many other examples out there.
I totally agree with #16, finally Viggo gets the praise that he deserves! I am sorry to all the Johnny Depp fans, i used to like him, but he has got way too hollywood for me. He now is on my list of hipocritical actors. Move over, more deserving actors should get the award. All you people who are wanting Johnny Depp to win, way to conform, it’s really sad. And as for Kiera Knightly and James McAvoy, that is unpleasant but obviously something was lacking. Although i agree that the academy doesn’t know what their doing most of the time. But anyhoo GO VIGGO! YOU DESERVE IT MANY TIMES OVER! RARE TALENT RIGHT THERE.
groundcontrol, thanks for the info. It’s still small comfort to me because the role of Elizabeth has been out-played, it needs to be retired.
Our Angie still has a lot of excellent acting in her, so we as fans have a lot to look forward to.
Cate is one of the most brilliant actresses I’ve ever seen. She can do anything. But I’m really surprised at her nom for BA. She did give an exceptional performance, but the film was very poor. However, I’ve seen her in I’m Not There and she is phenomenal-absolutely blew me away! It went WAY beyond stunt casting. I liked how one critic put it, “it was imitation raised to art”. I hope she wins BSA, she really deserves it!!! I saw Amy Ryan’s performance and it was good, but didn’t blow my mind. I mean, how many vulgar nasty mother roles do we need in film? I’ve seen it ad nauseum. And what’s worse is that she played a very similar character in her other film…lost a few points with me on that.
I really hope Julie Christie or Marion Cotillard wins for BA! They were both phenomenal!!! Both of them were heartbreaking in their films. Linney would be my 3rd pick. She was excellent and so real in The Savages-played a neurotic sister to a “T”. Ellen was really cute but don’t think she stands a chance with the competition.
Daniel Day-Lewis has got this award in the bag. He was really really good in TWBB. But didn’t he have a similar character in Gangs of New York?
Javier Bardem was creepy as all get out! I think he’s pretty much a lock for the win, but I thought Casey’s performance was terrific! I wouldn’t be disappointed with either of them picking a BSA award.
Best Picture is going to come down to Atonement or No Country. Atonement is your typical epic artsy film the Oscars love to award. No Country was a darker and more violent picture, but was incredible!!! It really was a masterpiece and I hope it takes home the Oscar. Juno was a really cute film but don’t think it has the chance with the other two pix.
Go Ellen Page
uh….HEATH LEDGER?
i feel so toopid
